I'm really starting to wonder if Cal isn't medling in this whole thing. If Noel is not eligible, is Obekpa his fall back and he's made him aware of that somehow? Who knows, just a conspiracy theory I guess.

Still hope in the end he's a Cat.

Where is the love Chris? You may be the greatest tease of all time or like many women I know who can't make up their mind. Are you sure Chris is not really Christina?

*Just helping us get to 100 pages on this topic. Can't believe this dude has not made up his mind yet. It is really easy. Pick up the phone and tell Mick you are ready to be part of our national championship title run. Tell him you want to be part of the block party with Shaq and JJ.

Actually a few coaches have earned a bad rep in my books. Any coach from Ohio State, Coach Cal, Lavin, Calhoun, Tennesse Coaches, etc. So when they are involved I feel it is okay to scream foul play. Mick and UC have been pretty clean in regards to these things and I hope it stays that way. I just want a clean program that is competitive. If we happen to put it all together one year and win a championship in basketball or football then that will be icing on the cake. If they have a bad year once in a while as well then I can live with that too as long as they are clean. I want teams I can be proud of on and off the court.

I've had winning with problem players and a coach I did not respect off the court. I didn't like that. Puts a bad image on the University. Even though the Xavier Brawl was ugly I thought in the end it put a postitive light on Mick and the University the way he handled it. Something I could be proud of.

Now come on Chris. This decision is really easy. Just pick UC dude. Why are you over thinking this? Lots of playing time, good team around you, the system you fit into and a great young coach. Good night what more do you want.

The only excuse I will take at this point is that you are still trying to figure out your major in college and then what schools have that major. Since chances are you will switch your major just pick one and come on down to UC. If the first one doesn't work out then we have lots of other ones that you can choose from.

Side Note: So I went looking to find out what the most popular majors were for baskeball players to finish my paragraph and came across this first.

"And if you go to Cincinnati, you apparently don't have to major in anything at all—according to the player bios on the Bearcats' Web site, five out of eight upperclassmen have not yet decided on a major." http://www.slate.com/articles/sport..._you_sports_management_or_communications.html

Doesn't get any easier then that Chris.

so you are saying that you assume that those other coaches cheat since people you know on a message board claim they do- i.e. giving them a reputation. how do you know mick doesn't have that rep elsewhere?

my only point- and apparently my previous posts got deleted- is that you have no idea if those other coaches (aside from uconn because of nate miles) engage in dirty recruiting. even calipari hasn't been busted for recruiting (camby took money from an agent, rose had someone take an SAT for him). yet we are to assume that if they get a player they are cheating, but when we get a player we are not cheating? how do you know? we don't. thats my point.

we can't legitimately accuse other programs of cheating and just assume we are angels because none of us know.

The problem is we want this kid to make a decision on our timeline and that is ridiculous. I want him to be a Bearcat and if it takes until someday in September for him to commit, that is fine, because I expect that commitment never to waiver for the rest of his life. I see a lot of these kids changing schools and I do not want that. Take your time Chris, make the best decision and stick with it. I look forward to seeing him in Bearcat gear this year! Let's all relax and stop the criticizing.

I want to steer around direct allegations of cheating we can insinuate and believe but I deleted several posts because of the content of the conversation centered around a direct accusation of cheating.

How are we going to get to 100 pages if you delete a bunch of post. My belief is that Chris is waiting for us to hit the 100 pages before commiting.

As for the guilty until proven I am with you. I still believe Roger Clemens is innocent and the greatest pitcher ever. Don't get me started on the stats because it goes down a road of era differences.

if you believe roger clemens is innocent then you should believe all of the coaches that you implicated cheat are innocent since none of them have been proven guilty aside from calhoun.

Obekpa is stringing schools along for the ride. Hope he makes a decision soon but at this point it is getting ridiculous.

Rumor is he is waiting to see if Noels is declared ineligible. If Noels is ineligible Cal is going to grab him for UK.

Take this FWIW:

Hearing Chris Obekpa is a very strong lean to St. John's. No date set for announcement but hearing commitment to Storm is imminent #stjbb

Heard St. Johns has taken the lead and a commit is being discussed. Nothing 100% but there is chatter Lavin may have stole this one. There's been so much said one wonders what to believe.

Meh, nothing is surprising in this kids recruitment. If he goes to St. Johns so be it, Cincinnati will still be a top 25 squad next year.

Feel the same way. Mick has won 52 games in 2 seasons with program guys. Let players go where they will, for their own reasons, stay clean and keep winning. You have to go after top self players but this staff has proven you can win with 4 year guys and the right system on a national level. 8 wins against top 25 teams last season. Just move on if the rumors are true and win.

oh well we will swoop in and take corban collins, an underrated pg/sg who has size and can stroke it from deep. We like our players to be overlooked and come in hungry here in cinci.
