In my estimation "if" Mormon and Perry commit, and both are good possibilities, that you have filled your needs at both the wing positions. The combination of Mormon, KJ, TC, GG, JD, SK, ST, and JC is deep, athletic, and talented. Not to mention full of scorers.

Perry gives you a talented low post guy but you still need one more. "If" Morman and Perry sign, it's a given to me at least, that Mick turns full energy to that. Woodson would be my pick but something tells me he will land at Baylor. Just my gut feeling and I hope the Bearcats land him and I'm wrong. Henry isn't deciding till spring. I don't see Mick going thru another Obekpa scenario and the more high profile suitors jump in for Henry the more remote that becomes. I think they look for a center like Ndoye but will take a talented power forward like Henry. Perry is our best chance at signing a low post guy in the near future.

definitely a lot to be excited about if you are a cincy fan right now and it seems like mick is taking advantage of his teams recent success in his recruiting trails. While im not sold on the big man situation I can't say that I'm worried, mick seems to always have a backup plan ready if something were to happen (Ellis off the team, Nyrasuk on the team) I know its still like 3 months until they start playing, but bearcats bball is my favorite team to watch through out sports and I gotta say I'm very pleased to see the direction the program is going. and i can't wait to see them start playing again!!

If Morman and Perry sign, no more schollies. How can they take Henry or Ndoye?

They can sign more. Gates and Dixon graduated. Ellis is gone. They lose 3 this season maybe 4. Nyarsuk and Rubles took 1 each. TC and KJ 3 and 4. I'm not discounting Woodson. If the right guy wants to sign a way will be made or may be made by an early entry.

We only have two scholarships left. We had two for the upcoming season which we used on nysaruk and rubles. We have 3 graduating next year plus Ellis's scholarship which gave us 4 for 2013. We have used two with KJ and TC. That leaves us with two scholarships remaining for 2013. Perry and Morman seem to be the most likely to take them. However if that is the case I still think cronin puts on the full court press for another big man. Woodson or Lawrence. Yes this means someone would have to go. But we have a log jam at the guard position and Kelvin needs to prove he can contribute at this level....

Isn't that what I said...lol

Guys don't discount Sean leaving. I know he has said two years isn't enough but he has obligations and he turned some NBA heads this past summer. I hope he stays bt if he has a good season and cracks the first round, I think he goes.

Good point.

If he is a guaranteed first rounder, he would be crazy not to go at this point. I would love for him to stay but realistically, his age could come back to hurt him by his senior year.

exactly. people forget that if he stays, he will be 24 when he graduates because he went to prep school and redshirted. while this is not a guarantee to hurt his draft stock, it certainly does not benefit him.

it is obvious that nba gm's place a premium on young players with potential to grow into better players. even though he will be more polished, it will not benefit him being 24 and being considered by a team against a 19 year old athletic raw scoring guard.

i think we need to prepare ourselves for this possibly being kilpatrick's last year at uc. if it is not, and uc needs to open up a scholarship, i think there are two likely possibilities: 1) the logjam of guards UC currently has causes frustration and someone transfers out, 2) the kelvin gaines experiment is ended if he cannot crack the rotation after his 3rd year in the program.

Let's be realistic, if UC is adding another player above the 4 open scholarships, my feeling is that it will be a post player and someone like Lawrence or Woodson. Therefore, I would have to imagine that the odd man out, assuming SK is still here, would be Gaines. This, of course, assumes he has not cracked the rotation.

Jermaine Lawrence Will Sign Late (UPDATED)
BY ADAM ZAGORIA ON AUGUST 25, 2012, 9:20PM

Jermaine Lawrence has joined a growing list of elite 2013 recruits who will sign in the spring.

“This is the most important decision he will make in his life to this point so it’s important that he takes his time with the process and feels completely ready to play for that coach and in that program,” his high school coach, Jason Hasson, told SNY.tv Monday.

“Right now, he’s continuing to develop relations with the coaching staffs and learning and studying rosters and styles of play.”

The Kentucky Rivals site first reported Lawrence’s decision to sign late.

The 6-foot-10 Pope John forward is down to seven schools.

“My Final Top 7 in no specific order Cincinnati, Kansas, Kentucky, StJohns, Syracuse, UCLA, UNLV,” he Tweeted.

Rutgers and Florida, which had been involved early, are out.

Lawrence, a Queens kid now playing at Pope John in Sparta, N.J., was invited to the Under Armour Elite 24 game but was unable to play due an ankle injury.

No visits are currently planned.

Hearing UNLV picking up a lot of steam in the Jermaine Lawrence sweepstakes. Rebels have made Sin City a destination for top tier talent.

Been told Jermaine Lawrence will take officials to St. John's, UNLV and Cincy in November, Kansas also possibility. #collegehoops

He's visiting St. John's for their midnight madness.

Hopefully he visits during a football game. The Rutgers game would be a great atmosphere for a visit. I can't say the same for the four home basketball games in November (two of which are Sunday afternoon games up against the NFL)... Tennessee-Martin, Mississippi Valley State, North Carolina A&T, and Campbell.

visits are a bit overrated. What did the Louisville game last year (Obekpa) or the Pitt game this year (Perry) get us?

They might be a little overrated but they are positive. They mean that we are in his top 5, since he only gets 5 officials and it gives us a chance him what we are all about.
