Top 75 talent at this point. Holds an offer from Indiana.

Per Wes Scott who covers IU:

Just had a fantastic talk with Mark Williams. Didn't have a great game, but promised redemption later. Mentioned IU and Cincy as top 2 #iubb

Strengths:
Mark's body has changed since his freshman year and he has become slimmer and taller. He has solid hands inside and is already a good rebounder and finisher in the paint. He has solid and improving skills. He can score in the low post and can step out to 17 feet and hit face up jumpers. Mark's a great rebounder. He's a solid defender in the paint. Solid athlete, good not great.

Weaknesses:
His scoring is pretty much limited to the paint but he is working on post moves as well as a short face up jump shot. Defensively he is learning to protect the paint and is a decent shotblocker. Needs to get stronger and become a better scorer in the paint.

Bottom Line:
Mark is a young and developing low post player who continues to improve. He will be heavily recruited in the midwest because of his skill level and his size.

Mark Williams (TNBA East)

Class of 2013 forward Mark Williams was nervous playing in front of college coaches at first, but then he remembered something important.

“I realized that it’s just basketball and I love basketball,” he said. “The intensity is good and I just work hard.”

So far, that intensity has attracted “basically the whole Big Ten,” including Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State and Indiana. Marquette, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Texas and Virginia have also shown interest in the 6-foot-8 big man our of Cleveland’s Benedictine.

Williams said Indiana is the early favorite, but that’s because it was his only visit.

“That’s the biased choice right now,” he said. “There’s no real stand-out.”

Still, Indiana made a good first impression on Williams, who said it was “everything a good could dream of.”

“You know when you watch movies and they show a college? It was like that,” he said. “Coach Crean made me feel at home. It was just great.”

Williams is looking for a program where he can use his physical style of play to his advantage. A hands on player, Williams uses his body well in the post to get position and grab rebounds.

“There aren’t that many kids my age who can maneuver their body the way I do,” he said.

He added that he works on every every aspect of his game constantly, but said improving his athleticism is a major focus right now.
