Is it possible that we grabbed Ellis, not bc Guyn is out, but bc we've moved on from Strickland? Probably way off but I'm just not sure about getting Ellis back.

This is way off. Staff expects big things from Strickland and is not going anywhere unless something happens in terms of his health, grades, or a legal problem (Which applies to all players.) I think it just came down too the staff thinking they could not pass on Ellis's talent. The move doesnt exactly match up with the current roster but oh well they will find a way to make it work. If in fact someone were to leave the one that makes sense the most is guyn. UC brings in a juco point guard, he had a mediocre junior year, coming off shoulder surgery, reports of him having doubts throughout the year about his future in basketball. All speculation at this point but where there is smoke......

Where did rumors of doubt he plays basketball cone from. Only ask because I mentioned it later in in year that he looks like he has a lack of basketball interest.

UC staff is excited about JUCO transfer Farad Cobb's ability to make 3's. Bearcats need to extend D from PG like they did w Cashmere Wright.

Wonder what his D is like. It's great that he looks like he can score, god knows we need it, but his ability to defend in our system will more than likely dictate his playing time.

If he's such a great shooter playing for a notable JUCO then why was he a San Francisco lean a week ago? I'm going to temper my expectations with this signing.

I don't mind the occasional JUCO, but 3 in one class?

You have to remember that the 2012 class only contained Titus Rubles, and with the redshirt of Shaq Thomas on left 1 JR. Now there is some better balance. Also, Cincinnati is going hard for '15 guards like Mitchell and Beasley.

FR- Clark, Moore, Strickland, Morman
SO- Caupain, Johnson
JR- Thomas, DeBerry, Cobb, Ellis
SR- Guyn, Sanders

With Cobbs ability to shoot the 3 and Shaq and Mormons ability to slash this could be a fun offensive team to watch. Hopefully Capuain has solidified his 3 point jumper and the bigs are able to rebound and put back. Imagine this:

PG Capuain
SG Cobb
SF Shaq Thomas
PF Octavius Ellis
C Jamaree Strickland

Talk about a potentially potent offensive lineup.

like line up. Think Cobb right now is better overall PG than TC. Has better handles and passing ability

I'm not even sure this kid's family is as optimistic about his game as you are! Good thing he didn't commit to SMU... you'd have Mudiay on the bench.

I don't know how anyone could say Cobb is a starter. He might start, but we are very far away from knowing.

I look at it like this
PG - Caupain, Guyn (If healthy), Cobb
SG - Johnson, Cobb/Morman(not sure)
SF - Shaq, Sanders, Clark
PF - Ellis, Clark, Moore
C - DeBerry, Ellis, Moore, Strickland
I tend to give the edge in all position battles to the guys that have been here.

I look at it like this we wouldn't have needed juco PG if players we already had was handling business. You usually bring juco players in to play immediately.

I definitely think Cobb will play a lot. 80 minutes between PG/SG...Morman has never played, GG might not be 100%, and he could be the best suited to play both spots. I just don't think he'll have enough time to learn the system and overtake GG, TC, and KJ. I think any combo of those 3 would be more likely to start than Cobb.

this isn't football it shouldn't take you more than a week to learn our system. TC and KJ held their own learning system as 17/18 yr olds. If it take a juco honor roll student athlete more than summer to learn our system quite frankly I'll pass him on.

Please call into the first Mick Cronin show of the season next year and repeat that too him. I just want to hear if he can contain his laughter.

It's statements like this that are exactly why Bulldog gets as much crap around here as he does.

At best he gives you a starter who can score. At worst he will give them some scoring off the bench, a guy that has some experience, and can play 2 positions.

LOL, I've never seen it take weeks for guy to learn basketball plays. We have 3-4 set offensive plays, play man to man 99% of game, so I guess it takes weeks learning our press.
