Jared Terrell looking to continue a strong year

The last year has been an important one for Jared Terrell.
The Weymouth, Mass. native made the move to Brewster Academy this past fall, helping the Bobcats claim the NEPSAC Class AAA title. This spring marks the first time he and his AAU team Expressions Elite began playing in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL).
"The team has done better than I expected," Terrell told New England Hoop News in a phone interview on Monday afternoon. "I've been playing well; I fell I played well in the last two sessions."
Aside from the rest of the summer with Expressions, Terrell is looking to the Kevin Durant Skills Academy, which he has received an invitation to attend. He is also hoping to hear back from the LeBron James Skills Academy and the NBPA Top 100 Camp. Terrell hopes this summer will prove he is one of the top guards in the Class of 2014.
"Definitely," Terrell said. "I think I play hard. I'm a better defender now. Now with my jump shot I think I'm more of a threat.
"I think I need to stay consistent," Terrell said about getting invited to more elite camps. "I'm just going to get back in the gym, work on my game and try to get better."
The offers have continued to roll in for the 6-foot-3 guard. Following the April live period he added offers from Kansas and Florida. Those two powerhouse programs join Boston College, UConn, Providence, Kansas State, Cincinnati, Marquette and Miami (FL) among others. There is always speculation that he and Expressions teammate Abdul-Malik Abu (Kimball Union) could play together in college, but for months both had stated it's not something they will force.
Following the AAU season, Terrell will likely begin to trim his list of offers.
"As far as making a list, it'll probably be soon, most likely," Terrell said. "I don't want to do it too early, but I don't want to take too long. It'll probably be 10-12."
Terrell will return to Brewster in the fall for his second season under head coach Jason Smith. He'll be asked to play a bigger role along with fellow returners Kevin Zabo and Syracuse-commit Chris McCullough.
"Over the year, I believed he focused more on the defensive side," Expressions head coach Ty Boswell said. "There were so many weapons around him (at Brewster), he didn't have to score the ball. He decided to do something different and he worked on one of his weaknesses and made it a strength."
"I'm looking to play hard and consistent," Terrell added. "I want to defend well. I'll have to score the ball a little more."
No. 32 has made headlines since for months and could continue to add some more with a strong summer.
