Abdul Malik Abu and Jared Terrell will visit Providence unofficially next Saturday, Expressions Elite coach Tyron Boswell told SNY.tv.

Kaleb Joseph and Pascal Chukwu may also join them.

Providence has been recruiting the 6-foot-8 Abu and the 6-2 Terrell hard for two years, and head coach Ed Cooley has made them a priority.

“We want to recruit the best players in the country,” Cooley, speaking generally because he cannot comment on specific players, told SNY.tv last month at the Nike Global Challenge.

“Everybody always says a lot of negative things about the brand of Providence. Whether that’s in the past or whatever, I don’t look at that. I want the best players in the country to to play in the best league in the country.”

When Abu and Terrell cut their lists last month, Providence made the cut for both players.

“They’re hard recruiters, especially the head coaches, not just the assistants,” Terrell told SNY.tv of Providence and UConn. “They text us a lot, talk to us a lot. We just keep an eye out for them and they keep an eye out for us.”

The 6-2 Joseph out of Wilbraham & Monson (Mass.), meantime, recently cut his list to Providence, Syracuse and West Virginia.

The 7-2 Chukwu out of Fairfield (Conn.) Prep is considering Providence, along with St. Joe’s, UConn and others.

Down to Cincinnati, Okla St, Rhode Island, and Providence. Providence is the only school remaining on both Terrell and Abu's list.

Just hope the package deal doesnt go down. If they arent a package I see Abu headed to UCONN and Terrell playing for the Bearcats. LETS GO MICK LOCK THIS DOWN!!!

#Cincinnati assistant @DSBball24 has been after Terrell for a long time. Power guard that fits #Bearcats style very well.

Have a bad feeling that Cooley is going to seal the deal this weekend. The "Friar Five" has to be enticing for all these guys. Cooley is an outstanding recruiter.

I've said all along if Terrell were to be a Bearcat it'd be alone. There's just something about this young man on the court. Would love to see him in a Bearcat uniform.

Expressions Elite teammates Abdul Malik Abu and Jared Terrell are each down to four schools — and they share only one school in common.

If the teammates are to end up packaging in college, it will have to be at Providence.

Perhaps not coincidentally, both players will visit Providence this coming weekend, as will guard Kaleb Joseph – who is down to Providence, Syracuse and West Virginia — and big man Pascal Chukwu, who is considering Providence, UConn and St. Joe’s, among others.

The 6-2 Terrell is now working with a list of Providence, Cincinnati, Rhode Island and Oklahoma State, his AAU coach, Tyron Boswell, told SNY.tv.

Terrell axed Florida, UConn, UCLA, Miami, St. John’s and Xavier from his list.

The 6-8 Abu is down to UConn, Florida, N.C. State and Providence.

Abu trimmed St. John’s, UCLA, Iowa State, Miami, Kentucky and Kansas State.

Providence coach Ed Cooley and his staff have watched Abu and Terrell non-stop for two years — and will host them both this weekend.

Earvin “Magic” Johnson is also slated to be on Providence’s campus for a basketball event.

“It’s a great weekend for our program, for sure,” Friars coach Ed Cooley told Kevin McNamara of the Providence Journal.

Terrell also recently visited Rhody, where coach Dan Hurley is working hard to land him.

“Coach Hurley is a great guy,” Terrell told SNY.tv. “He knows what he is talking about and he works with his players a lot. I could imagine myself playing there and it is a good opportunity.”

He added: “I will take my time through this process by taking all my visits and seeing what the other program’s plans and visions are for me.”

I think we should land 2 out of these 5:Gary Clark, Khadeen Carrington, Jared Terrell, Quadri Moore, and Grantham. In a perfect world, we get Terrell, Moore, and Grantham. I think we will get Moore, I think he really think he likes us. We've been on Terrell just as hard as Providence has, but I think he likes both us and Providence the most, and it will be a toss-up either way. Carrington is a three-horse race between us, UCONN, and St. John's. I think it will come down to us or UCONN. We have been on Clark for a long time, but pulling him out of the South will be hard. We have recruited Grantham hard before he re-classified and have continued to recruit him hard, I think we have a good shot to get him. I would guess the last spot in this class will be another wild card like DeBerry, but we still have some big names left on the board.

They will be announcing at a joint presser in the first two weeks in September. Have to get him on campus before then to have a shot. Otherwise Providence is gonna be hard to beat. Gotta give it to Ed Cooley and his staff they have gone all in on these two and it just might pay off. Keeping the fingers crossed.

Odd rooting for Florida, NC State and UConn to get Abu so we can get Terrell. Such is recruiting I suppose.

Going to Providence is not necessarily a bad thing, they can kick XU's butt.

Providence it is, I guess..

Just because they are announcing at a joint presser doesn't mean they are picking the same school. That said, it probably increases those odds.

I would guess it definitely increases those odds "We decided to make our college announcement together to say we are going to attend different schools!" That would be a bit strange. Is it common for players to make their announcements together?

Sometimes schools set up one time for all the kids to announce their decisions. It's not uncommon and you see it a lot with football because there are often more kids making those decisions.

Do they go to the same school? I know they're on the same AAu team or whatever.

It's odd to me that if they want to be a package deal which they have said in the past and they take their visits together that they would have a different top 4 save the one team. I mean if they really wanted to be a package deal then wouldn't their final four be all teams that would take them as a package deal? Regardless of whatever logic we try to come up with, it sounds like Providence is in very good shape.
