“In the second half, our motion offense was the best it has been all year. I can’t wait to get home and just turn the tape on. I think a lot of that has to do with Tre Scott’s willingness to be a soldier for our team and get other people open. It’s like we all have to jump into the pool and it’s cold and somebody has to go first. Someone has to get in there and try to get his teammate open and not worry about himself and Tre did a great job of that. The more it worked, the more it became contagious with guys trying to move the ball and get each other open. That was us at our best offensively, by far, in the second half. You are going to make more shots when you throw two or three more passes and you set two or more screens. You are going to make more shots because you are going to get better shots. His effort was great - nine points, nine rebounds, nine deflections, five blocked shots and four assists. I thought Tre did a great job, obviously, with Gary (Clark) out in the second half.

Great! Thanks. I totally missed all that. The swimming pool thing rang a bell...was it the post game presser?

FG attempts per 40 minutes should look like this.

1. Washington
2. Evans
3. Clark
4. Caupain

The only real problem here is that Moore is first and Clark is next to last. Washington and Moore basically double Gary's attempts. For us to play our best we need Gary to be much more assertive. He's shown the ability to back down a defender and make over 50 percent...but lacks the desire to keep doing it.

I thought the light went on for Gary after Kmart came to town...but he's lost it again.

I think he will pick it up. His game has never been putting it on the floor. Our outside shooting has been horrible which has people zoning us which makes posting up a bit more difficult. If we start shooting a bit better he will get his looks. Right now Washington is the much more versatile player. He also looks a bunch more confident.

I agree to an extent but Kyle isn't having many issues finding/creating shots and more importantly... making them. It's that bull in a China shop mentality that Gary needs to tap into. I realize there is a difference in skill sets but the mentality is where Gary is behind kyle the most.

Couldn't disagree more. The non-conference schedule is not very good. Yes, @Iowa State and @Butler are good games (and of course Xavier) but the rest of the schedule is not good at all. I mean for comparison look at Xavier's next 4 games. Keep in mind none of these are tournaments, these are games they scheduled individually: @Baylor, @Colorado, Utah and Wake Forest. That's good scheduling.

I kind of just let him talk without any influence from me. I was surprised he had that tone in general about us. Maybe being a regular tournament team allows National fans to at least count on us to make it a good game. This same friend of mine has video of the UConn-UC moment on his phone from the sports book in Vegas. So playing any marquee teams at all gives him a reason to watch. The top part of the non conference is great. But I do agree we could beef up the back end games. For comparison though from my neck of the woods:

KU plays Indiana, Duke, Siena, UAB, Georgia, NC-Asheville, Long Beach State, Stanford, UMKC, Nebraska, Davidson, and UNLV

KState has Western Illinois, Omaha, Hampton, Robert Morris, Boston College, Maryland, Green Bay, Saint Louis, Prairie View, Washington State, Colorado State, and Gardner-Webb

Those aren't any better than ours. Actually winning in our preseason events and beefing up the bottom cupcakes could definitely help us out though.

Jake I'm not certain but I think some of it is financially driven as well.

Current KenPom rating for UC:
Overall - 21
AdjO - 41
AdjD - 10

Those work for me - particularly since I think we have a lot of room for improvement offensively.

FWIW: Butler is currently 18 overall.

I'm seeing Xavier at 18. Butler is 17. Should be a hell of a game Saturday.

Those work for me too especially if we can get the AdjO up another 10 points or so and hold it there. A lot of that depends on our bench. Because our top 4 on the bench are 2 frosh, one red shirt frosh, and one soph who didn't get much quality time last year...I would tend to agree with you.

Would love to knock off Butler at Hinkle. That would be 2 very nice road wins for our resume.

Would be huge. Rankings aren't everything, but this win could bump us up to 14 or so. Also depends on where UC and Butler end up ranked today. If I had to guess...22 for UC and 16 for Butler.

Evans averaged 22 points in his first three games. His last 5 games have been 10 points below that. I am not concerned about his skills at all but we have to find a way to get him more looks.

Love Evans, but he's got to create more for himself. He often gets a little indecisive...he'll try driving, then when he gets to the FT line, he ends up getting stuck and dishes it back out. That's certainly not the case every time, but I feel like that's happened a lot lately. He's not a total freak athlete, so unless it's a fast break, he generally doesn't blow right past defenders. His acceleration seems a little slow. Would like to see him ask for picks more and work off that, rather than standard 1-on-1s.

Idk if this has been posted in here a while ago but this was from back at the AAC media day. Rodney purvis at the end gets a little spicy talking about us. Pretty funny 😂

I'm not sure I agree on the freak athlete thing. He can jump out the gym for a guy 6'6". His ball skills are better than our PG. I do agree he needs to start using all of his talents more. He could be virtually unstoppable when and if he wants to.

Evans needs to get better at going left imo.

I thought Evans had a 44" vertical which I think is good for anyone no matter your hieght.

Evans biggest physical weakness is that isn't very quick. He's not slow by any stretch but he isn't explosive. That said, he is an athletic finesse player. He glides through traffic.

Honestly he is so unselfish and trusts his team so much that he doesn't try to be "the man" and take a bunch of shots
