We're pretty much right where we were last season. (Understand at this point a large portion of the 2017 numbers are based on preseason projects --- which are based on 2016 data)

Was hoping tempo would go up this year... finally. Doesn't look that way.

are per 40 minute stats really meaningful for guys who have played less than 10 minutes in at most 4 games?

i bet tobler's per 40 minute scoring looks great given his one free throw in like 2 minutes.

I guess the point is Scott is being very effective in limited minutes while the other two are struggling. If you want to see the court you have to make the most of opportunities.

I also admit there are two ways to look at this. If you get 5-7 minutes per game one could say you should focus on doing the small amount of things asked of you well. You could also argue it may be hard to get into the flow of the game.

My guess is Cronin would like to see you do the little things when you get a chance so I can keep you in the game. Basically don't turn it over and get some rebounds. The high amount of fouls for each tell me they are also out of defensive position. Another negative for Cronin.

When Tobler is in there he is in " don't care mode". He's running around like a bull in a China shop hoping to just get some stats. That's not true for Moore and Brooks...they want playing time.

Tempo is not going to increase when the opposition takes 8 seconds to get the ball across the half court line every time. The style of defense we play will limit the number of possessions. That's just the way it is. If you want to argue they should take more risks and go for more steals (thus potentially giving open shots early in the shot clock), fine, but don't count me in that camp. I just don't think you can expect faster tempo when other teams are playing that slow against us too.

Good point! We can only control our side of the ball. Pushing teams late in the shot clock when we are on D is going to limit our tempo upside.

However, we don't have to walk it up and we could probably do a better job in pushing the break at times. I would rather sneak in some points before the D gets set when possible. Also quicker passes around the perimeter wouldn't hurt.

Cincinnati is 290th in the country in length of possession on offense.

I don't really have a problem with our tempo so far this year. We've looked to push when the situation presents itself. Playing man instead of zone would probably speed things up a tad. I wish we were more flexible in-game on our defenses. Cumberland would probably be our worst on ball guy but for most of the rest of our schedule, Cumberland could easily be hid on the wing player who doesn't score much.

No matter what the numbers say, it looks to me like we're running much more than in the past. And, we're doing it more effectively. This team is pretty good in transition and hopefully, we'll run more and more. Seeing Caupain throw full court passes for layups is something new and a pleasant surprise. His half court game hasn't been pretty, so I'm liking him more and more in transition. I hope it continues.

I think we are looking for opportunities but I am expecting more from both JJ and TC. Need good guard play.

I agree we are much better in transition this year. We are finishing better.

In half court we need Troy and KJ to start shooting better. Also FTs... have been horrible.

Troy and KJ's shooting is what it is. I don't think we'll see huge strides there. I'm not sure I even want to see them try to shoot their way out of their slumps. We have much better options than them on this team. Go with the hot hands.

I don't want them to shoot more. Just want them to make more. Particularly from 3. At some point soon other teams are going to focus on Evans and Washington.

I think we'll start seeing more and more zone to shut Washington down and they'll take their chances with our inconsistent outside shooting. I agree that those two guys need to get better from deep, but I'm skeptical that they'll ever get significantly better. That is why I would like to see us run more.

We are 33rd in the country shooting 2s and 252nd at 3s. All players but Jenifer and Brooks are 50 percent plus on 2s. Jenifer being small I get that.

We are going to need to get better at the 3 but we aren't going to be a great 3 point shooting team. We need to keep focusing on what we are good at.

Jacob will not be happy to hear you advocating for more 2s.

Again, I'd like to see our 2s increase from more transition baskets, that will also lead to more open 3s as well. I've never understood Cronin's love affair with slowing the ball down to go into our god-awful half court offense. But, with the addition of Washington, there are at least a few more decent options now. JJ's 3-pt. shooting looks a little better this year. It seems as though he's not launching them as much, plus he's being selective and shooting in rhythm more.

Take out Evans and we are shooting 26 percent as a team. If we see more zone and they focus on Evans...we will be in for some rock fights. We will shoot better as a team but we aren't going to be deadly by any stretch.

Here's a question I would be interested to see what fans think as things stand now. Assuming KJ keeps his starting role for the time being...what is your first option off the bench?

Jenifer comes in and Troy moves over or Cumberland comes in and Troy stays at PG?
