Yes Waite. I am. Show me a guy who smiles, and I'll show you a guy who loses. It's about the level of intensity and confidence. The only time he should be smiling on the court is when he clinches a conference title. I'd be willing to bet that Evans and Washington won't smile a single time after a mistake.

this is really, really stupid.

different people react to different things in different ways. his smiling reaction is just the way he acknowledges that he ****** up or missed something that could have been there.

you seem to be equating him smiling with him laughing something off and not caring. that's not correct.

I'd argue very hard that Evans was the most competitive player on the team last year and I don't think it's even close.

I'm not saying he thinks mistakes are okay. I'm saying it shows a lack of confidence/swagger/whatever you want to call it. A Bearcat senior leader needs to be an a**hole on the court. Excuse my language, but that's just how I see it. I know Caupain has an outgoing personality and it a good kid. I'd just like to see the late-season mean streak all the time.

your language is excused. this stupid point, on the other hand...

Nope.

My point goes hand in hand with Coach Cronin begging these guys not to be so nice. I just have a hard time believing the guy who is smiling out there after a bad play is the most intense competitor on the floor. I mean, I didn't see him smiling during the UConn game...and he was a straight killer in that game.

let's just let your direct words do the talking, then, so we avoid any potential confusion.

this is also stupid. the guy reacts the way he reacts. his "swagger" is the way he does things - stoic in success, smiling in agony. equating that reaction with a lack of confidence is also bad.

these are not good points.

*In your opinion*

I don't know that I'd put Troy in a category of epic competitors, but I certainly never felt like he had anything less than 100% invested into the team and every game.

To me, often the one most invested in the games was Ellis. Shaq cared about winning a TON as well.

Gary, Deberry, Evans seem more shy in demeanor, not that theres anything wrong with that, but I expect the vocal leaders next year to be Washington, KJ and Troy.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Maybe you guys never played sports. Idk. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, that's the only conclusion I can come to. Anyway, feel free to rip me as much as your hearts desire, but I'm not changing my stance on this or adding anything else to the convo.

I saw Kenyon smile a lot on the court.. I think he's the greatest competitor to play at UC in over 50 years. Different strokes for different people IMO.

Was that after a mistake while the team was losing, or after he pounded a shot into the 10th row?

doesn't matter - it means he's not competitive and doesn't compete. it means he loses. context is irrelevant.

just your opinion, though.

I think you're looking for a Steve Logan type, and just not all guys are like that. Few are.

For what its worth, is there specific examples of Troy's behavior you don't like? I don't really recall seeing him all happy at any point we're down in a game?

It's not that he's happy. It's a nervous smile. He did it after his airball vs Iowa State and when he threw it away at the end of the 2nd OT at Temple.
