Wow! Even as a Cats fan I've got to say this feels like a stretch.
I'd settle for a Sweet 16 or Elite 8, but it's great to get some national pub like this!

Agree 100%I wouldn't "settle" for a sweet 16, at this point I feel like that's the minimum of what we should hope for. We've got a pretty damn good team. We will find out a lot more tomorrow night, but we have the team to make a real run. Winning it all does sound a little far fetched but he's callin us a sleeper not a favorite, little different. No one thought uconn was winning it a few years ago, so who know, we definitely have the defense and offensive weapons to play with just about anybody. Now, I don't think we are winning a national championship this year but making an elite 8 and maybe winning another game, who knows, I could see it.
Wish I could have been there last night. Place looked like it was rockin' on TV. It's crazy how much better we are getting. 86 points and we missed 19 free throws. That is unbelievable.
Bench and KJ: Going into the year I was really confident in our top 4 guys. Troy, Jacob, Gary and Kyle are rock solid college basketball players. I didn't have confidence in KJ, and the bench was extremely unknown. Last night I felt comfortable with just about everyone out there. Our bench does not come in and turn the ball over. Yeah they aren't always as productive, but they don't shoot us in the foot. That is huge for our starters so they can get breathers. We have owned second halves this year and without a serviceable bench this would not be possible.
Cumberland: The mother****** is fearless. Mick talking about recruiting Jarron "He got better when the game got bigger." MUSIC TO BEARCAT FANS EARS. Our 2 position has been an unbelievable development.
Perimeter D: Really hope we can learn from this game. In a sweet sixteen type game we can't afford a good shooter to continue to get looks. I am worried about it but then again I'm not. Mick can definitely fix this.
At the end of the day, we absolutely bad boy'd these guys. I mean they made 15 3's......They gave us an absolutely hay maker in the 1st half....we responded by being a stronger better basketball team. If we met them again at a neutral floor I would not be worried. We have answers. They don't. We stop Bluiett and they're done. Pick your poison Chris Mack, because we are getting ours no matter who you choose.
Great win Bearcat nation.
The actual tourney is Gravey for me. I don't put lots of stock in 1 and done tourney such as the NCAA.
...wut
Don't get me wrong I want to win the championship but the selection, draw and other factors make it less of a priority for me. If we check off my points I will be happy. If we win it all I'll be on cloud nine.
this is the way the game used to be looked at and its really a shame it isn't still. xaviers season last year is the perfect example. Best regular season in their history but you get super unlucky in round 2 and you're out and everybody looks back on it as a bad year vs their previous 2 sweet 16 seasons they get super lucky and play 13 and 14 seeds and get a sweet 16 and those years are looked on as great.
The regular season means something even if the media/world kinda makes it seem as though it doesn't. People get so caught up in the ending they forget how fun and memorable the journey was.
I know this is really jumping ahead, and really need to take it one game at a time, but we have a real good chance of going 22-2 heading into the @SMU game. Weren't we 22-2 Kilpatrick's year going into Moody?
I like the team we have a lot more than that year, and truly don't think we will lose more than 1 game the rest of the regular season knock on wood. That year we finished with 5 losses and a quarterfinal loss to UConn. in the AAC tourney.
We need to win the conference tourney this year, no excuses. The year we went to the final 4 didn't we beat Memphis 4 times that year? Lets beat SMU 3 times this year and another time in the NCAA tourney, how does that sound?
Yeah and ranked 15 at the end of the year just to get a 5 seed. We won't be losing those kind of games down the stretch this year so hopefully we don't get the shaft again
Mick said yesterdays crowd was the best we've had in his 11 years. We packed it in to almost 300 people over the "capacity". I think our overall success this year in basketball is certainly exciting people, but the excitement around the football program is probably also having an affect on hoops. It's great to see things looking up for our Bearcats, I was afraid after the Big 12 stuff that people would lose interest.
Agreed with your points, but the capacity of 5/3 is actually increased for this season based on the conversion of the old restaurant to the box suites. That's why the higher attendance rather than the 13,176 we're all used to.
My goals for the season
1. Beat X CHECK
2. Win League
3. win conference tourney
4. Be raked at end of year.
5. Get a 5 seed or better in the NCAA.
The actual tourney is Gravey for me. I don't put lots of stock in 1 and done tourney such as the NCAA. anything can happen and usually does.
It's been a fun season so far. We started the season playing relatively well with Kyle and Jacob hot. Troy, KJ, and Clark struggled. We couldn't buy a 3.
Then those 3 started kicking in adding more of an arsenal.
Now it looks like Cumberland is making a move to add more options. Brooks seems to have taken over as first big off the bench and Scott was already solid prior to that.
Mid season form, confidence and chemistry are here. Coach feels like he can let it loose. He trusts the players. It's looking very good right now!
