Tournament committee announced they they will be looking into more advanced analytics when it comes to choosing the tourney pool, said it could be in place as soon as next year. Looks like they are starting to realize the RPI is an outdated system.

About time!

Best part...I don't think he leaves after this season. Yes, his numbers are good, but I can't imagine he will get drafted in the first round. If he's getting 2nd round ratings, which I would again be surprised by, I hope he stays and realizes another year in college will do him a load of good.

This draft class is so loaded it seems impossible he will get into the 1st round, unless he goes off in the NCAA tournament and starts drawing attention. I personally feel players are better off going to the draft if they are confident of a 1st round selection, but my guess is that Evans will need to stay to have a shot at that.

Yes, I agree. Even if he goes off in the tourney I find it hard that he leaves. Unless it's a Final Four run and he gets 20+ ppg or something.

*which I would love. If he leads this squad to an E8 or F4, and has the confidence of being drafted in the first, then I'll be excited for him.

The schedule has worked out pretty well for us so far this year. We have had 5 days plus to prepare for RI, Butler, ISU, Temple, Houston, SMU and next Xavier.

That gives us some rest and some extra scout and prep time for the bigger games we have had. If we can go 5 and 2 in these games...it will be huge for us...especially with 5 of these 7 games being on the road.

Yes it has but as a fan I hate waiting that long between games:)

Read something interesting today. If the Team finishes this year VERY strong Mick ahs a chance to record his 300th win while being 45 and under. Not a bad accomplishment.

Looks like he will have to go 9-5 the rest of the way...which would disappoint a lot of people...lol! That's pretty cool though! Hopefully he can accomplish that feat in 11 games or less.

Has a coach ever won 300 games by age 45? This might be more common than I'm aware of, but not sure.

Interesting that we had Troy and KJ shooting extremely bad for a good portion of the year from deep. Now they are #2 and #7 in conference play in % from 3.

Troy leads the assist to turnover ratio and Evans is 2nd. Troy is number 5...yes 5...in defensive rebounds per game. He is 25th in minutes played in conference and first on our team. I guess all that talk about getting our guys breathers isn't important for other teams...lol!

All in all I was surprised we didn't have more category leaders. That tells me we are well rounded. Only 5 games in but...

As for the team you can imagine we look good in defensive categories. We are second in scoring margin to SMU. We are first in assists and 2nd in 3 point shooting (SMU). SMU is right up there or leading in a lot of categories as well. Right now there is really no comparison who the top 2 teams are.

Oh...we are #1 in attendance as well.

The only game that I really feel bad about this year was RI. We should have never lost top them. We got beat by Butler who I believe is a top 10 team at their place. Butler has wins over Cin, Arizona, X and Nova. I could also add the game against Butler was at their place and was one officiated terribly one sided. We have had some close ones but we are winning.

Al Davis was right - "Just win baby!"

At the beginning of the year when looking at the league I questioned our ability to win on the road at UCF, Temple, Houston, SMU and UCONN while holding serve at Home. So far we have won at Temple and Houston and beaten SMU and Temple at home. I'd say we are doing better in terms of prediction then most people thought we would do to this point.

Looking at it from this point in the season I feel we finish off Houston at home and split with SMU. That leaves UCONN and UCF. How does everyone think those games will go??? I think we win at home and possibly split on the road but it wouldn't surprise me to win at their place as well. Is a 2 loss regular season league schedule doable?

For what it is worth, I was playing around on RPI Wizard last night and I did it so we lost @SMU and @UCF ( just to pick two losses) and it had us at 27-4 (obviously) and RPI 11, SOS 66.

Not sure how accurate it is, but it shows you how great of a seed we could get as long as we continue to take care of business. Being 27-4, a great RPI, solid SOS and potentially regular season and conference tourney champions...that could be hard to deny as a 2 or a 3. Let's get it.

If you're talking a 2 loss regular season, then you're talking about running the table the rest of the way out. I don't think it's impossible, but I still think it's unlikely. Too many games in which things can go wrong and trip us up.

If you're talking about a two loss conference regular season, I think that's much more realistic. That allows us to lose at SMU and slip up either at UConn or UCF (or possibly Houston at home). Still tough, but far more likely.

Right now, I just want to see us take care of business at Tulane and then beat X st home. If we can do that, I think we're a 4 seed or better unless we lose focus and pick up a couple of bad league losses.

I really like that this team has shown it can win a number of different ways. They've survived slow starts by Troy and Kevin, a slump by Kyle, poor free throw shooting, a few nights when Jacob has struggled and other nights when we had to get tough stops at the end of games. The versatility of this team is a valuable asset.

Go Cats!

Any word if Xavier game will be a black or white out? MY guess is the UCONN game will be a white out due to the white final 4 jerseys we will be wearing.
