I'm not sure what rankings you're looking at, but the ones I see most often do not include transfers. So for us, Washington and Broome would not be included in those rankings and therefore our recruiting classes would be ranked worse than we deserve.

Case in point: Iowa State. They've been one of the best teams in the country the last couple seasons. Want to know their recruiting class rankings during that period (according to 247)? 75th in 2015 and 115th in 2014. 115th!! Obviously the rankings are way off. In ISU's case, they bring in quality transfers that aren't accounted for.

I think Mick has done a good job, although I've been frustrated by his inability/unwillingness to improve the offense, his excuse-making, postseason let downs, and underwhelming recruiting. There is plenty to criticize Mick for without using misleading information.

Iowa St. recruiting....

2016>>>five 3-star players
2015>>>one 4-star, one 3-star, one 0-star
2014>>>one 4-star, one 0-star

This looks our an awful lot like our recruiting!

In the two years before that, they signed three 4-star players, which is this season's juniors and seniors, which explains why they are pretty good.

That combined with transfers has gotten them Top 5 NCAA seeds out of one of the best conferences. It is possible to have success that way...Of course they don't make a point to try to be the slowest team in the country every year.

Where would we rank if Washington was included? I'd have to imagine that he and Cumberland are higher impact newcomers than most teams' Top 2 incoming recruits.

Agreed that if Washington was included in this years class we would be ranked top 30. I'd have to imagine he was the best transferring player from last season (that had to sit out a year). He was a top-100 player in his class and was a 0.962 rated 4-star on 247. I rather have him, who has played college basketball and has proven he can play, over most incoming freshman besides those ranked in the top 2-3.

I know we're really hoping this guy is special, but his stats at NC ST weren't eye-popping.

6.8 pts/game
4.1 rebounds
1/2 assist to turnover ratio
46.7% shooting
7th in minutes played

I'm not sure those stats would have propelled this class into the top 30.

Without the ability to offer immediate PT and minutes your not going to land a high major recruit. We need back up big which I'm hoping is Holden and another wing. With Cumberland and Evans on board your not getting a 4 or 5 star here at those positions.

Hopefully we will win some of the tough games we lost last year be ranked and have a nice seed. Like last year we should be in the thick of the race for both conference and conference tourney titles.

PG we have TC this year and Broome for the next 2

SG we have Cumberland a top 50 recruit and a KJ a senior

SF we have Evans a player many think will be a stud with 3 years of eligibility left

PF Clark a very good all around player who will get better. 2 years left

C Washington is a high level Transfer with 2 years left.

Won't be easy recruiting over the top of these guys for this years class. If we land Holden I will be pleasantly surprised because he will be a back up.

Should we pocket the schooly and or bring in another project? This is a fact of life for teams that have many 4 year players.

All while only playing 18 minutes. After a year off of working on his shot/foot speed/ strength etc during his year of sitting out, I think it's fair that if he plays 25-30 minutes a game next season, he can average 11pts with 8 boards. Or something similar. Not many incoming freshman bigs can do that.

Id be surprised if he averages 11pts a game next year. I'd be happy with 8pts, 7rbs, and 1-2 blocks a game. He will essentially be our 4-5th scoring whenever he's in the game. If he can bring some tenacity and energy like JJ did a couple years ago, I think we will have a really good season.

I get that its hard to be high on a guy we don't know much about. But he was also playing in the ACC with considerably better competition that the AAC. Ellis averaged close to what you project for Washington in his first year here. I have to think Washington has shown he's a far more skilled basketball player than Ellis is. Pretty close on athleticism. I don't think its a stretch to guess 11. If mick can produce a free flowing offense(which is highly in doubt) the starting 5 could be quite efficient. I guess we will see in time.
Damn, November is a long time away LOL

I hate speculating based off of tweets, but Jenifer posted a pretty cryptic one today.

"if everything goes according to plan then it will be smooth sailing if not ✌️ don't have patience anymore . . . In or Out ? "

Could he be leaving?

That wouldn't be a very smart tweet if everything didn't go according to plan (if he's talking about leaving)

I replied to him and it is what it sounds like. It looks like he is on the fence as to whether he is staying or not. I think he should stay. With conditioning and a improved shot he could be a poor man Steve Logan. He shows so much potential as a distributor we just haven't put him in a position to use his skills

Hope he make the best decision for himself. He might be better off a school like Iona or some mid major that plays an uptempo style. He certainly isn't going to get to play that way here.

If he is tweeting about being on the fence...I think that is a very bad sign.

In addition to that...if he does leave...it creates a HUGE depth problem at PG and wing. It creates an immediate top priority need for a ball handling wing. Evans is the only other guy who could potentially run point outside of JJ.

Big mess if he goes. I hope he stays

For him to post the tweet he seems to be pretty emotional and possibly upset that he is in this position. I'm assuming but he could have been given a ultimatum like guyn, morman, or Davis.

What ultimatum were guyn, Mormon, Davis given?

I really really hope he stays, and we speed up the offense. Not necessarily give up D, not necessarily at warp speed but speed up the offense.

Did someone get LT off the ledge at Carew Tower?

My guess is Mormon was the only one given an ulimatum. Guyn and Davis probably didn't see playing time they wanted to see. Jenifer just needs to buy in and play smart.

I don't have any inside info but basically it looked like they were pushed out the door. It happens when the coaching staff either takes a athletic scholly away or tells them that they won't receive desired playing time. I didn't mean a ultimatum literally.
