*4 of 10 or 40% winnning percentage or 4-6 W/L record.

You do the math....

I think he thought you were saying our record was 4 wins, 10 losses. He was puzzled how we could lose 10 tournament games in 6 years.

At least, I assume that was the source of the confusion...

if simply making the NCAA tournament is your barometer of success, you win. If progressing in the NCAA tournament is your barometer of success, I win.

Can we please move beyond this 6 straight tournament appearances? It is a wonderful accomplishment. But, I hope I don't have to remind you that we are 4-10 in the NCAA tournament those 6 years with only 1 win coming against a better seed!

Which is exactly 1 more better seed win than a certain UC coach had in his entire near 20 year run here.

I'm not just trying to get the thread back on topic when I say this but there is a bunch to be excited about next year.

We have a all league PG.

We have the defensive player of the year. Who not only guards but has improved his offensive game every year he has been here. See no reason he won't take a step forward again in that area.

We have Evans who showed enough promise as a freshman national media has noticed him.

We have Washington who has had a year in the system and by many accounts has really been a vocal leader and a hard worker in his time here. From things I have heard he has also been a monster on the floor in practice. I expect much more overall game from the post this year.

We have a senior returning who on occasion can knock down a shot and is a very tough on the ball defender. he will be sharing the spot with a top 50 recruit.

The bench should be manned by Cumberland/KJ, Tre Scott who in my opinion will surprise many, Moore who has shown flashes and if he ever convinces himself to except his role and play within himself can contribute and a back up PG who needs to not force things and let the game come to him.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see the staff add a final piece as depth. Potentially a senior transfer.

We lost lots of close games last year. Heartbreakers!!! Had injuries as well. Hopefully from adversity comes success. I'm excited for the season for all the reasons I mentioned above. If you chose to look at the team as a glass half empty that is certainly your right. But even the most cynical on here have to admit this is a very solid team Coach has assembled.

Very good post I agree. Crazy how well Gary's shot has developed. Our starting 5 can shoot!

Exactly what I've been feeling. Can't wait to be in my seats that first exhibition game just to get a look at this team. I really hope we add one more piece to the roster for depth. Injuries haven't really been a concern until last year. Someone to provide backup minutes for Evans. If only we could get a Rashad Bishop type player...

Really think Cumberland with his size will be able to provide some depth behind Evans at the 3. A big key to our back court will be the development of JJ. If he can offer good minutes Troy will be able to slide over to the 2 at times as well.

Like you I'm very much looking forward to the start of the season. I think Tre Scott is going to be a big surprise. He will back up Gary Clark.

We may not be a race up and down the floor offense but we will be a much more efficient offense. Scott, Washington and Clark all are good passers. If our wings are knocking down some shots will be very tough.

Waite...I agree with a lot of this. I worry about depth but we will have enough talent to be somewhat dangerous. I have seen you mention Scott as being a nice surprise but I am wondering what makes you say that?

I think Caupain and Clark are going to each be slightly better than last year which is a good thing. last year for much of the season we saw about 20 minutes out of Evans and 20 from Thomas. Having Evans out there for 30-35 minutes this year will be a major upgrade from the time share. Other than rim protection I think Washington will be better for the team in almost every other category...and after seeing that he can touch 12 feet I don't think he will be bad at rim protection either. We also have Clark and Evans to help out there.

My only question mark right now (other than depth concerns) is the SG position. In order to be a better team than last year we are going to need Cumberland to be ready to play 20+ minutes by mid season. We can't have KJ out there for 30+ minutes IMO.

No way Caupain is a 30% 3pt shooter like last year he will be 35% and that's a big difference. Overall, our guards can hit free throws and need to get to the line too. That's huge.

We need to shoot better as a team for sure. We can't have KJ playing 25+ minutes making under 31% of his threes...other than defense that's about the only other thing that he can offer. I think Troy will shoot better. I thought it was going to be hard to replace Cobb's shooting until I looked at his first half and second half of his season.

First 16 games Cobb was 47-98 for 48%

Last 15 games he was 27-90 for 30%

Just about anyone should be able to knock down 30% of their 3's (even Shaq Thomas). Good D1 shooters should be closer to 40% or above.

Wrong. It is absolutely a fact. Look it up. Huggins NEVER beat a team with a better seed in the NCAA Tournament with UC.

Wow is that stat misleading. It happened 4 total times and it was against 2 2 seeds and 2 1 seeds. Very misleading. It's hard to play teams with a better seed when you're a top 5 seed yourself all the time. If that's your big knock, you may want to find a new stat.

I liked Cobb, but he was easily bothered by taller, athletic defenders. I don't think we'll feel his loss as much as some have feared. That said, I don't expect KJ to suddenly light it up from 3 either. Hopefully Cumberland can advance early enough in the season to play substantial minutes at SG later in the season.

I wouldn't say misleading. It's simply a fact. It also points out how poorly (a relative term) UC performed as top 4 protected seed the last 9 years he was here.

Agreed on Cumberland. He should be out there with our other best players as often as possible.
