yeah man if we aren't getting elite top star prospects then i want the guys we do have to be lazy and get fat!
well there are no Jenifer lifting/workout/jumping pics or vids
Hearing Jennifer is one of the most improved players and his jumper is looking great. He is in very good shape and there has been plenty of workouts of him.
If he is improved over last year, then he should be amazing.
you never quit. LOL!!!! I really hope he can add some nice minutes to the rotation. His performance will allow TC to play off guard at times.

Waite, I've played, coached, and watched a lot of basketball in my lifetime. I think I am a very good judge of talent. I have also never been quick to praise a Cronin recruit, especially since recruiting is my number one issue that I have with him. That being said, I saw JJ playing free and easy, very loose, and with a lot of confidence, and most importantly.....with incredible results and production in last year's pre-season intra-squad scrimmage. Yes, it was a small sample size and very early. I'm still standing by what I saw that day and I believe JJ has the talent to be a very good player here before his career runs out.
I also saw how he played as the season progressed last year. As the season went on I saw the confidence get drained out of him like water going down a bathtub drain. He was trashed pretty heavily by posters on this site, as was I for singing his praises. We'll see. I think Mick has to refrain from jerking him out every time he makes a single mistake and let him get into the flow of the game and start building some confidence. I hope that he has worked hard over the off-season and comes back and proves me right. We really need someone to emerge from that group of 5 or so subs to become the spark off of the bench. JJ, with his ability to push the pace and distribute the rock would be the best possible player to become that spark plug.

like you I hope JJ puts it together this year. I agree we need some minutes off the bench. I really don't buy the whole confidence thing. He couldn't guard a folding chair and his decision making was suspect at best. Now that can be a product of trying to do to much but This isn't lunchtime at the YMCA. He also was a freshman trying to play PG. that is a tough assignment. Don't let your desire to see a more fast paced style cloud your judgement. He needs to play within the frame work of the offense and guard. He can grow from there. AnyWay I hope your right and he proves all us nay Sayers wrong.Waite, I've played, coached, and watched a lot of basketball in my lifetime. I think I am a very good judge of talent. It was pretty easy to see the difference between the way he played early and how he was playing at the end. At the end, he had become the quintessential Cincinnati guard. Dribble up the floor half speed and pass to the wing. Because he was playing to not make a mistake, he actually seemed to make more. Early on, he pushed the pace, was outstanding at making the entry pass to the post, had a number of highlight reel passes and drives to the bucket. He even had a good shooting percentage early in the season. He was getting significant minutes until the first tight game, and then Mick left him on the bench. From that point forward, his playing time got smaller and smaller and his performance began to slip. I know you're not buying the confidence thing because that implies that Mick failed in some way. I believe that Mick did fail with JJ. You think he is not that good. Before we start the back and forth, let's just agree to disagree.
I agree that he seemed to want to shoot too much, and did. I'm hoping that either his shot starts falling and he continues to shoot when open, or he dials back his shooting frequency and focuses more on running the offence and distributing the rock. His development is one of the keys to how successful this season might be....in my opinion.
As I looked into the future last year, I saw this potential issue coming with our thin bench. For that reason, I would have played JJ more and tried to develop him so that he was more of a factor this season. In hindsight, Mick's strategy to not play him much last year didn't result in anything special since last season was largely a disappointment. If JJ contributes this year, then Mick's handling of him last year might have been a motivating factor, or maybe JJ just worked his tail off on his own. Or, maybe he hasn't worked at all and will just ride the pine all this season too. Who knows? I think we really need him to be pretty good this year. If we can take some of the load off of Caupain, maybe he can excel better when the game is on the line.
L-T we can certainly agree to disagree. I would like to point out that if I think Mick has mismanaged the program I would say so. I do not blindly defend him. never met the man. My expectation and yours regarding what is a good job and what isn't are very different. My difference doesn't mean I do not want to win more games and titles. You are certainly entitled to your opinion.
As far as JJ goes,as someone who has coached,as you have, watching a player play in the game is only part of the criteria used to determine when and how he should be used in a game. Practice, health, attitude and level of competition all play a role. As well as game situations and what game plan your trying to install. If it was as easy as asking someone sitting in the stands who he thinks should receive more PT based on his limited exposure to all the components needed to make a decision is not very practicle. But again your entitled to your vies.
I agree we need JJ to play well. Cronin has a role in that process as well as the player. To make a blanket statement that he was handled improperly based a very limited access to all the parts that go into being a good player is where we may disagree. Again if Cronin doesn' t meet my expectation as a leader of the program I will certainly say so. You may want to consider this, the fact that you take every opportunity to point out his failures may be the reason his fans become so defensive. As I have pointed out to you numerous times the people who have the power to make a change seem to be satisfied with his performance and leadership. Not knowing all the criteria he is dealing with may be another obstacle to understanding his performance and why the BOT is satisfied. While we have had our differences in the past I really respect the fact you are a true fan who donates to the program. You are certainly invested in the school. Without you and the rest of the alum we wouldn't have the success we have had in the past.
He would know.Mick himself said that he mishandled JJ and should have played him more. I guess he agrees with me.

Mick has said he's mishandled Darnell Wilks, Jaquan Parker and now Jenifer. Seems like he isn't learning from his mistakes too well, huh.
Don't think Mick considers himself perfect. I'm sure he evaluates his performance as well as the players. How he can help his players get better is probably a big emphasis When you recruit 4 yea players development is crucial. The reality is it takes effort on both coach and player to see results. No one gets them all right.Or it's just coach speak and he wants JJ to work hard in the off season to become a better player/decision maker. He doesn't want him to be moping around in the off season thinking he's got at least one more year behind Caupain.
I still think JJ has a lot of great potential and because we are thin at the wing we will see plenty of him this year. One ankle sprain will more than double his time on the court.
