This speculation reminds me of past off-seasons.
I would love to go back and look at the few guys we really wanted (or guys we discussed a lot here) and see how they did. We lost several to St. John's and they all stunk. God's gift achua or whatever his name was. Anthony Mason Jr?? That juco or grad transfer scorer we had long thread about last year ( signed with Marquette?). Did any of them do much?
God's gift might got us deep in March with him JJ and rubles in frontcourt

I like it. Put the most **talented** team out there and let them learn. As we know, preseason "hype" ( based on " talent") teams don't always win as much in regular season, but do in the tourney. I want tourney wins.
I hope Cumberland is not too slow for this level.

Now, Im not saying cumberland will start(atleast to start the season) but in my opinion when that lineup is on the floor, I think we will be at our best

I would be absolutely shocked if Mick didn't bring in another guard. Recruit, Juco or Grad transfer. Not saying Cumberland won't get the position but not having a consistent outside scoring threat is killing this team. If Mick goes into next year with 3 scholarships and 1 isn't a knockdown shooter I'd be disappointed.

I'll say that. Cumberland slides into the weakest position on our team. I think he can start day1. There are enough minutes for KJ to get time. There is nothing wrong with a decent player like KJ not getting a starting job.

I would like to see JC be an option at the 3 though as well if we don't add anyone we don't know about.

JJ backs up TC. KJ backs up JC and JE both (= almost starters minutes). If JC could slide to the 3, this can work.

It also limits the amount that JC and JE are on the floor together. Young guys, seemingly redundant skill sets. They need to play together sometimes, but probably a good excuse to use depth.

Cumberland's strongest skill at this point is his outside shooting. I've seen him play a couple of times and he hits a high percentage. 7/12 last night in a playoff game against Princeton. If he gets any space he's shooting.

I find it strange people want to get a grad 2 when we have our most prolific 2 in Mick history coming in. I don't care if he's 15% from 3, the dude can score 50 in high school. I don't care if your playing girls that takes a talent for scoring. Our biggest killer this year is not having another guy with size that can handle under pressure without turning it over. If Shaq had good ball skills this is a top 10 TEAM.

Like I said, he's got a good shot. Even though he's got a bit of an awkward release. However, his ball handling isn't great yet. One on one he uses his body well but in traffic he turns it over. Moeller gave him fits last month. Good passer though.

I hope Cumberland comes in and shoots lights. If he does he should play. if not with all the returning talent I want to hedge my bet by bringing in some competition for the spot. A proven performer. If he is beat out so be it. Cobb was supposed to be a dead eye shooter. He has struggled since the SMU game. Plus freshman generally have trouble adjusting to playing defense. I feel next year will be a great season. I want as much talent as possible. I'm not pinning my hopes on a freshmen wing if I can land a proven performer.

Do you guys think we hold scholarships back every year on purpose saving money?

I've wondered if that's part of the decision making process, but honestly I don't think that's the reason. For one he's given a couple walk ons the unused scholly a couple times. I honestly think he saves one in case a really good player wants to transfer early in the year where we'd have to use a scholarship to get him on campus. That plus he really doesn't want to go more than 10 or 11 deep. I can't say I always agree with his logic but I do understand why he does it.

Somehow we always end up with only a few usuable players at some point in the season. Glad to see we have 12 this year, even if a couple aren't active. We should never have less than that imo.

It's official, the AAC conference tourney is headed back to Hartford at the XL Center next year.

People wonder why the conference is a damn joke. Why pass up places like New Orleans, Philly, Cincy, Memphis. It's a joke how bad this conference favors UConn. So damn stupid.

So annoying especially because they just had it. Outside of uconn fans no other teams will bring any because there is nothing to do or see in Connecticut. I thought the Palestra in philly would be a cool venue
