Would be nice if passed the ball instead of forcing up a shot through a double team every once in a while. Why take a 50% shot and give up either a wide-open three or a lay up? 16 assists and 30 turnovers since the Butler game. It gets frustrating sometimes watching him throw up a shot when guys are wide open.

Big man mentality. If I have it in the paint, I'm putting it in. Not that uncommon. I'll take the bad with the good bc his aggressive offensive attitude is a big positive in our program.

Plus, our team AST/TO is off the charts. So if 1 guy isn't on par with the rest of the team, at least it's a guy who gets looks near the rim and is a pretty efficient scorer overall.

The more I see of Brooks, the more I like him. Like a lot of freshmen, he's too indecisive. However, his size is legit, he moves well, his defense is reasonably solid (particularly if he can learn to guard without fouling a little better) and his limited offensive moves look ok. I think he could be formidable by his junior year when we actually need him.

Another benefit to having offensive talent is that we can bury teams in our conference sometimes and get guys like Brooks some quality game experience. Yesterday in the 2nd half after a foul, Coach was able to call him over and give him a little lesson on the spot during the first FT attempt. I love seeing that stuff. And it sounds like Brooks has a great attitude too. I'm really glad that we have him.

Cronin was doing as much in-game individual coaching during the game yesterday as I can ever remember. He did it with Brooks, Jennifer, Kyle & Clark that I recall. Maybe others.

As you mentioned, some of that is a luxury of having a good offensive team getting a large lead so he can focus more on individual coaching rather than making crucial in-game team adjustments.

They were very effective offensively yesterday.

If the biggest complaint about our center is his ast/to ratio; I'd say he's doing fine.

That is funny, thinking the same thing when I was watching that , Brooks had to bend down to put his ear down to coach. Great look.

Kevin Johnson has been having a type of senior year we really could have hoped for. His defense always has been pretty good, but of course we all worried about his offense. He started out slow but since the Farleigh Dickerson game he is shooting 42% from the 3 and averaging 10.2 Points a game. That's pretty good if that's your 5th best player out of your starters.

Kyle Washington has scored double figures in all games but 6. There was only one of those 6 games where he played more than 20 minutes and in that game he had 9 points in 23 minutes. Had he played 30 minutes in all of them he would probably have double figures in all of them.

Also, if he played as many minutes as guys like Lawson, Ojeleye, Dotson, etc he would be behind only Rob Gray in points per game.

Would we like to see more assists from him too? Sure...but since he is the most reliable scorer on the team I would like to maximize his attempts as long as it doesn't border on stupid attempts. His rebounding isn't bad when he's focused on it. His FT's are serviceable. At 1.5 blocks he's not too shabby there either. Good for 6th in the league.

Playing around on RPI Wizard and given an ideal situation ( winning out while playing Tulsa, Houston and SMU in the conference tourney) has us at 31-3, RPI #7, SOS #60. Likely won't happen but that seams like a 2-3 seed.

In conference Troy and JJ are a combined 98 assists to 15 turnovers for 6.5:1 assist to turnover ratio. That is unbelievable!! That would equate to a #1 ranking on the season if they had done it all year long. Either player individually or both combined. They should get some serious kudos for that!!

Even if we can't score on the road...but we can play great D, win rebounding, and protect the ball...we might just be able to win regardless of our shooting %. Obviously, if we can find a way to shoot just a few % points better on the road...we can beat just about anyone if we have discipline in the other categories.

Interesting Monte Morris is #1 and Troy is #3 on the year. Tyler Lewis of Butler is #6. According to NCAA stats. Jenifer would still rank 2nd if he qualified and he had 2 turnovers in his last game

Just to put in perspective how good this is. Monte Morris leads the country by miles over 2nd place at 5.79:1 to 4.45:1 (Troy 3rd at 4.28:1). This 6.5:1 ratio would put them ahead of Monte by .7.

I know it's only half a season...but they are killing it in this category recently and they were already doing extremely well before that point. Might I add this is all done in conference play? And did I mention JJ had 2 turnovers in his last game?

In the last 9 games they are a combined 9.57:1...lol! Come on man

Troy 42:4

JJ 25:3

Just read that Troy is 30 assists away from tying all time assists record at 511

Would be awesome to see him do it. We have at least 6 games left. So just 5 assists per game and he is tied for the lead and 1 away from best ever.

Few random notes now that the regular season is over:

- 27-4 overall
- 18-0 at home
- 16-2 in AAC
- 7-2 on the road in AAC
- 15 game winning streak between Butler and SMU
- #20 Overall, #43 AdjO, #7 AdjD on KenPom
- Averaged 74.7 PPG and allowed 60.2 PPG

I've mentioned a lot how I think conference games and home games are so important if you want to rack up a good record. Those games make up such a huge part of the schedule...And we went 25-2 in such games. Really makes me one happy fan.

I'm going to go with 22-9 in the regular season (13-5 AAC) for my prediction .
I was looking through some preseason posts. A lot of pessimism mixed with guarded optimism.

I think justinhub was the closest prediction preseason.

They start at page 111 if you want to peruse.

I'll highlight a few others. Nothing meant by these - just interesting to go back and look at the predictions, concerns, etc.

We finished better than I believe anyone predicted.
