2016 General Recruiting

We don't have minutes at PG this year. We have minutes everywhere else. You have to play more than 5-6 guys and our players beyond that at this point are not established or experienced. Bowman didn't come here bc of minutes? We didn't have Broome at the time he committed to BC, so the only guy ahead of him SO year on would've been Jenifer. If that's the conclusion he came to, he must not be very good.
Bowman was a combo guard that went to BC who lost boat load of games. He is a lock to be starting next year. Now playing in the ACC is better then playing in the AAC but on a team that didn't win a league game?? Playing time was certainly a factor.

My last thing on this...

To recap my thoughts on whatever we're even talking about at this point:
-We aren't that deep as it stands today.
-The immediately eligible guys we're offering this spring will have a chance to play if they're any good.

Yup, Jason S was right about the two separate arguments, because I agree with everything you just said here.

To be clear, just because I don't believe there are a lot of minutes to go around doesn't mean I love our depth. I don't, at all. All I'm saying is I understand why 3-star guys or transfers wouldn't want to come here right now. Unless they're very proven or highly talented, they flat-out won't get to play much. 5-star guys is a different story. Give me one of those and I'll throw them in the starting lineup. But I think it'd be tough for a mid-level guy to come in here and really contribute ASAP.

Lots of moving parts in this discussion. We are talking about players eligible next year.

First playing time plays a huge part in recruiting.

Who is available and what are Team needs.

Who you are recruiting against

There are not many 5 stars out there waiting to be recruited. Those ships have sailed awhile ago.

Trying to sell a recruit by saying you can see the floor because our bench is weak is not a very good approach. Good players want big roles.

We have players we will be developing. Scott and Brooks to name two. JJ and Moore will also fit that category.

Most players will go to a team where they can see the floor early and often.

Jacob everyone has a chance to play. Most want a defined role. I'm going to guess your not a salesman. LOL!!!!

Ok yeah, I hear you. For this spring's purposes, I don't think anything should dissuade a guy like Hicks.

No major program has 2 scholarships (that they are willing to sit on for a year) or the amount of playing time the two want. Not surprising at all...

You know some things but you can't possibly act like you knew ECU would be a destination for them. A turd is still a turd no matter how you polish it.

Surely shows how much minutes mean to players.

Did you not see their list of schools? It's like Old Dominion, ECU, UNC Wilmington and some scrub major teams like Rutgers. So yeah, I knew it was a possibility...
