I share your concern. I'd like to get a 5 like Ellis who doesn't need to have anything run for him and can be used primarily for rebounding, rim protection and ball screens. Hopefully Brooks is in good enough shape to do some of that at some point. But I worry about his mobility.

They need to use the 2 open schollys on grad transfers that can play right away in 2016. If they suck who cares, they're only here for a year and you weren't gonna use the 2 schollys anyway.

Maybe I'm wrong but i think I've heard this before. We end up with a few recruits and then "pocketing" the rest a lot.

Just disappointing that the staff cannot complete a roster.

I've been a huge Mick supporter and defender but I couldn't agree more with you. At some point he has to bring in a class that catches the eye of not only fans but of future recruits. It seems he's good early in the process but can't finish a class off.

I also agree with this. After our starting five this year, we are very thin. Its concerning.

filling scholly's isn't hard finding the right player is the issue. Especially when you have a set line up. I actually like the fact he won't give free rides away.

We only have 2 players on the roster who have averaged 8.5 ppg in D1 basketball. If our lineup is set with this group, then how could it ever not be set? You seem pretty confident with what we have. Hopefully it works out. But 10 active players, with most of them having little or no D1 experience makes me incredibly nervous.

Yep it's been almost a full year since we got Washington, Cumberland, and Brooks all in a row. And we've landed 0 2016 players since. I agree with you guys that pocketing 2 scholarships a year gets annoying.

2 players with 8.5ppg is a bit misleading, considering Evans averaged 8.4 and Broome is in the wings.

Gotta make a cutoff somewhere. 2 players who have ever averaged double figures? Does that make it any better? The point is, our rotation is very far from set imo. We may know the top 4 or so players, but we need more than that to compete, even in the AAC. We either better hope Cumberland is incredible, or someone comes out of nowhere to give us productive minutes off the bench. A little disappointing that Caupain's a SR year may hang on someone like Moore or Johnson having a breakout year.

Jake never said I wouldn't be all in on improving our roster. I think we have a good starting 5. Our bench is thin. What I did say is it will be hard attracting talent to a line up that is set. If you don't think Washington,Clark TC Evans and KJ/Cumberland is not a set line up this conversation is pointless. Would I like to find some depth behind them? You bet. But it has to be the right fit and finding those guys is not easy.

So either Evans, Caupain, Clark, and Washington can never come off the floor, Johnson and/or Cumberland will need to play 25+ minutes, or one of the questionable bench players will have to be productive. I'm not thrilled about any of those options. We're an untimely sprained ankle away from being in big trouble again, which unfortunately seems to be par for the course at UC these days.

If it were easy Mick wouldn't be getting $2.2 mil a year.

So I did some looking around and PF Taurean Thompson is an interesting guy to me. He doesn't seem to be heavily favoring anyone. Rumors that Michigan state and Syracuse are involved big but for some reason he hasn't decided yet. Wonder if Mick is either involved or can get involved late. Watched tape and really like his game fitting in here. Obviously haven't heard any connections but he fills a need, is very talented, highly rated and most importantly still available and doesn't look like he will commit very soon.

Waite we didn't have Broome when Bowman committed to BC. And we have rotation minutes available from day 1 on a team that has made the tournament 6 straight years. I think you're overrating the idea that every recruit HAS to be a starter from day 1. We dont even know if Cumberland will start over a guy like Kevin Johnson...so how in the world did we get a recruit like that to commit???

Who cares about it being "the right player" if its a grad transfer he is here for one year and his scholarship is open to be used again just like it would be if we pocketed it. I get not wanting to grab the wrong guys if they are going to be here for multiple years, but at least by using the scholarship on grad transfers you give us a shot at 2 people surprising us and contributing. If they dont, who cares they are here for a year and sit the bench, are bodies in practice, and worst case scenario if people get hurt. It could actually do us good to grab 2 small school transfers who can shoot and have high basketball IQ who are a little less athletic, someone who maybe isnt the "right player" that we would normally recruit. Its not like we are winning championships every year and have a roster full of the "right players" Sprinkling a couple of them in with what we usually recruit and it might end up being the missing piece. But not using scholarships makes absolutely no sense at all when there are grad transfer options to at least give you a chance to maybe get a surprise here and there.

And im so sick of the excuses about recruiting our campus is insane. One of the best in the country. Every kid wants to go to the NCAA tournament. Not many programs have gone to the tournament 6 years in a row. We have a salesman issue if you ask me. It should be the easiest sell to grab a grad transfer bc those are the kids that want to go to the tourney. We pocket scholarships every year and it does absolutely nothing for us. Give some kids a shot for a year.
