Saw on Twitter that Oklahoma State F Tyrek Coger collapsed and died during a workout today. 21 years old. So sad.

Yeah I guess they were running stairs at the football stadium...we've had up to 110 heat index in this part of the country all week. Not good.

Going to be a hot one here as well. I got tickets to the reds game but I gave them away. Saturday is supposed to be worse. As I reflect on my days growing up in Norwood. Having a screen in your window was as much A/C as you had.

Still as a parent I don't know how you go on after a event like that.

Jon Rothstein was listing Big 10 breakout players on Twitter and he named Eron Harris. How in the world is that guy still in college? Preseason Duhon Award favorite right there.

4* Elias Harden verbals to x. somehow they are in the "lead" for a few other 4/5* players

Somehow??? It's easy to see. They play exciting winning basketball. They often advance in the postseason. They are highly ranked. They play an incredible OOC schedule almost every year. They sell out their arena. They have the aura of winner and of an elite program. We once had that same aura and attracted MacDonald's All Americans. Now we attract the same recruits who LIU, Stephen F. Austin, and Illinois St are after. This is a very clear picture and shouldn't be hard to figure out. The days of us being "THE" destination school in the City of Cincinnati are sadly gone.

We also attract the same recruits that Michigan, Purdue, IU, OSU, Texas and WVU are after. One of those teams has a coach that you have a shrine of in your closet that you pray to every night.

Strange how looking AT ONLY ONE RECRUIT can change the whole narrative. You use factual information, which is great, but then you constantly spin then to fit your insufferable rhetoric that UC is a garbage program now and can not attract top talent. UC's current roster is made up of 4 and 5 star recruits who were recruited by great programs beside UC. Because one recruit, who shoots lights out and will do so in college, isn't a top 100 recruit UC is suddenly mid-major?

Endlessly spewing your negativity ruins these boards. Yes you are entitled to your opinion. But, when you just bash the program then attack people for having a positive view as settling for what UC is now makes no sense.

Your post seems great if it were on an XU board. Maybe root for them so we don't have to be subjected to your mightier-than-you posts about how much you are in with the UC higher ups, how great UC was 20 years ago and how they are the worst D1 basketball program today.

I would argue that those of you who endlessly spew "positivity" when the facts just don't back up your argument, are the ones who ruin these boards. Very few of you can back up your argument without calling someone a name or personally attacking the person who doesn't see things your way. That is what ruins these sites.

Case in point, when Bearcatnews banned every single anti-Cronin person, that board completely died. This forum gets more posts in an hour than Bearcatnews gets in a month. Why is that, since you would think all the negativity is gone over there and Bearcat fans would be flocking to that site. I'll tell you why. One single line of thinking is as boring as Mick's offensive scheme. Different opinions make for successful fan forums. Also, there's not that many people who see this program in a positive light these days. Bearcatnews is the perfect example of this phenomenon. Bearcattalk allows all opinions to be voiced, thus, this site blows away the other.

As for the recruits....our roster is made up of 4 and 5 star recruits who were coveted by other great programs????? Lol...really? Our last two recruiting classes have been ranked 58 and 62. If we have a plethora of 4 and 5 star players, how are our classes ranked so low? I don't remember the last time our recruiting has been near the Top 30. And, if our roster is full of 4 and 5 star players, then Mick's coaching looks even worse than I've been stating. Recruiting is "Ground Zero" when discussing our results under Mick Cronin.

Hilarious that you criticized him for only looking at one recruit while mentioning those schools who were ONLY after ONE of our recruits. So it's inaccurate to say we attract the same players as those schools when only Cumberland had interest from that list.

We had to create excitement for the program recently when I believe it was Bill Koch who came up with that exciting process of identifying the top 10 players of the Cronin era. What an exercise in futility that was. If that Top 10 list didn't point out his recruiting struggles, nothing will. At that pace, we'll have to wait about 30 or 40 years before we have enough players to fill out a legit Top 10 list. It certainly won't be hard to sweep into that Top 10 list. Who knows, half of this year's roster might just replace half of that list by themselves.

And to think Mick makes 2.3 mil a year to give you heartburn by running your program into the ground. He must be laughing all the way to the bank. What is it 10 years and running. Doesn't look like the end is in sight either. He'll make the dance the next two years as well. It sucks to be you brother. Just think they almost had him out the door then ONo takes to Twitter and gets him to agree to stay. Then Ono turns around and leaves. LMAO!!! Go figure! Does all the Red sweater crowd feel like you?? Do you think Mick will be replaced in your lifetime? How can you see this so clearly and the admin be so blind? When fund raising is such a priority how can they afford to keep such a unpopular figure as head coach? After thinking about all the things I just wrote. I have know issue with you venting every chance you get. It's obvious you are deeply connected to the program and they have flipped you the middle finger. He makes 2.3 mil a year.

Did you read the very next line of my post? I only used one recruit because he only used one recruit. Reading comprehension is lacking I guess.

ease up on L-T. He is a huge fan of the program and donor. The admin obviously does not share his view but he just can not tear himself away. We are his only outlet. How about a little compassion?

Maybe the administration is as incompetent as the coach Waite....you know...the blind leading the blind. Fundraising is important and the "FACTS" say that Mick Cronin has increased attendance by a little over 500 fans in 10 years, from the season where we were the butt of college basketball jokes with an embarrassing losing record, to today where we stand with 6 straight trips to the NCAA.....500 fans....really....lol. Seems as though there may be a lot more fans thinking just like me. I was told this year that season ticket sales last season were as low as ever. Yes Waite, it is about fundraising and it is entirely clear that if we want more donors, and fans in the seats, a change is needed. After all, not many coaches in America could produce to the level where the University has to reduce seating capacity by two to three thousand. Quite an accomplishment by Mick. I'd bump him up to $2.5 Million.
