Anyone who says Xavier isn't good is insane.

They aren't as good as last year, but 4 out of their 5 losses have come to legit top 12 teams and 3 were away from home.

Only Colorado is a questionable loss and playing in that altitude ain't easy.

All of there loses are ok, it's just they have no great win.

But anyone that thinks we're gonna run them out of the gym is insane.

"Good" can be relative. When I said they weren't good it was in reaction to losing a 3rd straight in a game you need to have at home to stop the bleeding. If they had another gear, we would've seen it today. They're obviously competent. But they are in bad form right now and something seems off. Of course we won't run them out. But they look nothing like they were expected to look this year.

I rooted for both teams until Huggins got here and we started making tourney. I told Xavier fans prior to Huggins if we ever were good we would own the city. That is what happened. They became total buttheads since then and I look at Xavier fans just like I do Kentucky fans.
There are five things I love

1) God
2) Family
3) Country
4) Bearcat win
5) Xavier loss/ Kentucky loss

Right...they played Butler closer than we did...we have not faced teams of the caliber of Creighton or Villanova (7 & 1 in the country). Let's not denigrate X's ability....I'd rather talk them up so our win looks better

They have a good team and it will be a tough game, but I want them to lose every game on there schedule. Nothing personal they are just on the same list as the following:

Kentucky Wildcats
Pittsburgh Steelers
St Louis Cardinals
Anybody USA is competing against in the Olympics

When we play Xavier next week, they will easily have the most talent of any team we faced this year and any team we will face.

Do they have the team Chemistry of Butler? No.

But a team with Talent can beat you on any given night. Sumner is one of the best driver and foul drawers In basketball, Blueitt is slumping but we know he can shoot and score, Macura is a B*tch but we know we can shoot and aggravate us and then Myles Davis, who looks like a he actually is 50 and is playing like it too BUT we know those kinda guys have big games against UC.

Xavier fans can say they have bigger fish to fry in the big east but make no mistake, this is now a World Series for Xavier and we are 1 of just 4 marquee win chances they have left. We will get their best shot.

I think last year Mick talked X up so much that he made his team scared of them, this year we need to know we can beat them, know their weaknesses but not for one second stop respecting them.

I'm not going to argue against Eggs being a good team or having a few really good players. However, maybe they aren't QUITE as good as everyone thinks they are. I am also not using these numbers to say any one player is better than the other because of the rating...it's just interesting to look at.

PER (player efficiency rating) most minutes played

Sumner...20.5
Macura...18.9
Bluiett...18.0
Gaston...20.4
Bernard...9.9

Washington...26.4
Clark...24.5
Evans...22.8
Caupain...18..3
KJ...11.2

X is a good team that plays in a very good league and we will need to play very well to beat them. Like everyone posting here this is a game I really want to win. Need to take back control of the City plus add a top 50 win to our resume. THIS IS A MUST WIN FOR ME!!!!!!!!!

My goals coming into the season:

1. Beat X
2. win the league title
3. win conference tourney

Should be the goals every season.

Does PER factor in schedule difficulty?

Unless it's a Jamaican bobsled team...ya gotta root for them!

No I don't believe so which is why I wasn't trying to compare one player to another. I think our PER would go down a little with a Xavier schedule...but our ratings are also significantly higher now. Perhaps they would wash out...but I think we match up well.

My dentist is a die hard Xavier fan, and I loved hearing from him this morning saying that Xavier doesn't stand a chance against UC this year. He said he could tell from the beginning this isn't a top 25 team.

It's probably a little too early for analysis on the game, but the two keys to beating X for us have to be getting Clark/Washington going on offense, and defend the 3-point line. Take care of those, and I think we will be okay.

Simple eye test from realist fans will tell you Xavier doesn't look impressive. I get it, we don't look perfect. But it is what it is.

They don't look impressive but they still have the ingredients to make a run. When they beat us at Fifth Third 2 years ago they didn't look special either and lost to Long Beach state that year, but they still came in and beat us.

Dee Davis had missed like 20 straight 3's then decided to light us up and carry his team. Their Freshman (Trevon Blueitt) sealed the game for them, while our freshman (Gary Clark) fouled the guy who sealed the game 30 feet from the basket.

That said, Our Team Chemistry is top notch but we will need to make shots. They will find a way to get hit shots they haven't hit all year and we need to Answer.

What does concern me a bit:
Gaston Vs Washington

Gaston is a big big dude and attacks the offensive glass. He could really attack Washington and get him in foul trouble. We need him to play smart.

On Defense I'd rather see Evans or KJ guard Sumner. TC will get blown by and it will lead him to either dunking on our bigs or drawing a foul. We need to keep him out of the lane and Evans length maybe what we need to do that. TC can guard Bernard, KJ on Macura and Gary on Blueitt.

Their Bigs play not good D and they don't protect the paint, some one is going to have to fearlessly drive the ball.

Bad loss for WV to Oklahoma (8-9).They got Kansas St on the road Saturday. We could possibly move ahead of Huggy Bear in the polls next week. Then move ahead of Xavier in both polls the following week.
