Bellermine tonight

I'm still concerned about our front court.

Mbodj may not be able to be the #1 guy. I don't think Nyarsuk is capable either for the duration of the season. Gaines has looked better today.

Jackson did not play today but he should help.

This team is special. There's no reason to have more than one loss in ooc play and I fully expect no more than 3 losses in conference play. They are final four special

It was an easy game that saw the team let up about halfway through the second half when they went up by about 40. Then they slacked off and cruised the rest of the way.

I thought every single player on our team played well tonight, except for maybe mbodj, but I say not because he didn't score, but because he didnt rebound.

Hard to tell things from a couple exhibition games but the team looked pretty solid tonight. Bellarmine had a couple decent guards but no height. Here is what jumped out at me tonight.

-For all the hype about the high octane offense, we really don't run as much as anticipated. We had 13 total fast break pts last Monday and at half tonight had 9. Albeit still a big improvement from last year when we couldn't run break at all. A token press was put on with zero emphasis on pressure.

-On defense rotations need to be made quicker and we need to box out better

-Nyarsuk-gets ball knocked from hands a lot. Needs another year in weight room. Had a nice oop and putback dunk. He does that and rebounds and that is all we need from him. Needs a bigger center of gravity, gets pushed around a little.

-Sanders - Still waiting to see what all the preseason hype from SK was all about regarding Sanders. He hasn't shown anything yet this preseason.

-Parker - Absolute beast tonight. Bellarmine couldn't stay in front of him and he got several and 1's because of his strength and speed.

-Shaq - Real inconsistent, still trying to figure out speed of game. Forced some shots tonight and a few looked really ugly. Committed a lot of silly fouls.

-Ge Lawn - ran offense nicely and took ball to hoop on occassion. Plays tenacious defense and got called for some ticky tack fouls. Hopefully he will continue to improve and be a nice pg next year.

Rubles - One of most complete players we have on team. Had a spurt tonight where he scored 7 pts and had a nice assist. Very smooth player who will be a important piece of the team this year. It will be interesting to see if Jackson takes any of his time and who will start Rubles or JJ.

JD3 - Ended up with 13 pts tonight. Started real slow but gained confidence. Drove to the bucket several times and hit a three (then blew a kiss ala Guevara). Will be interesting if he is redshirted. I think Mick is holding his feet to the fire to see if he improves the way Parked did after his soph year. Nice player, has talent makes too many unforced errors.

UC won the fast break stat 19-0 tonight. If they get about 20 points a game on the break this year, UC will be tough to beat.

Do you go Sanders or Jerry at this point?

I'd bet Sanders is way ahead of JDIII at this point. As much as Mick likes to talk about a full out running team, he values the ball too much too allow it to happen. In the first two games they really haven't been a run and gun team. So even though JDIII is much faster and better at pushing the tempo than Sanders, Sanders plays it safe and will get the nod in Mick's eyes.

According to everyone Sanders is way ahead.... But if we are being honest. Sanders doesnt do much on the court... He doesnt make mistakes. Thats his best asset!? Show me something.

JDIII makes his mistakes but at least he has showed the ability to push the tempo and make some shots.

I really like the potential of JDIII but Mick prefers guys who do not turn the ball over and that person is Sanders for the most part. It's the same reason Guyn is the backup to Cash. Guyn plays good defense but that is about it. He doesn't have a good shot, doesn't have great court vision, and frankly IMO, just isn't really a PG, but he plays it safe and doesn't turn the ball over too much.

Some of you guys are really funny. You based all these opinions off of two exhibition games? Don't even tell me that you based it off of their freshman years because that would be even more laughable.

oh, so you haven't formed any opinions on any of the new guys or last year's new guys?

Dont be ridiculous football guy... Look Freshman year ill say Jerry outplayed Sanders.... How is that laughable? Its just a fact. And Yes, TWO games in Sanders looks the exact same as last year, minus 10 pounds.

Look I like Sanders, his numbers in high school speak volumes... My only concern is that he will never make the next step. He was a scorer in high school, why cant he score now? Why doesnt he look to score. Why doesnt he look to take over? ESPECIALLY in scrimmages.
