After watching the Friars game yesterday, UC should win by at least 10 points. I'll say 75-64 Cats. I think they come out and play hard, I am hoping they see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Brooks is good. Put Bishop on him and pound it inside. Take advantage of our size. Play hard good defense like Wed. night and the game is doable.

Friars don't play defense so it shouldn't be a problem to score and I think UC's defense can shut down Brooks. Even if Brooks gets his points it will likely come at the expense of the rest of the team. I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't see UC losing this one.

Be careful about judging a team based on one game. Providence has a number very impressive performances at home this year. Nobody has beaten them by double digits at their place yet this year.

I'd like to think that after the Louisville game, this team understands the importance of playing for 40 minutes. That was the first game this year other than maybe the Dayton game that they brought intensity the entire game. With that said, and not to sound negative, I'll believe it when I see it. This game is a perfect opportunity for a letdown performance, lets hope we don't see it. Mental toughness is not something we've come to expect out of this team. Everyone says the seniors need to step up and lead the younger guys to play hard for 40 minutes. I think it's time for the younger guys to take over and forget about waiting for these seniors to be leaders. Cash and killa -- this is your team. Cash needs to just take over. Wednesday night he penetrated a few times to about 10-15 feet and used a screen to get off a nice shot. It looks like he's finally getting the team to move where he wants on the floor and realizes how to utilize that. Alot of people have criticized him when he slashes to the hoop and gets himself in trouble but the rest of the team usually just watches him and when he gets double or triple teamed, the guy who should be open doesn't move to a spot to take a pass and that leaves him out to dry. A pg can only be as good as his team around him. Cronin had no problem letting Vaughn do whatever he wanted with the ball, I think it's time to give that same freedom to Cash. If Cash can hold these other guys accountable and get them to be where he needs them to be on the floor he could be deadly. When you have a pg that can penetrate, shoot from deep or pull up for a midrange jumper you have to always have an eye on him whereever he is on the floor and the second he puts his head down, defenders will flock to him. This leaves guys open assuming they don't stand there and watch or move with their defender to the middle of the lane.

Providence is a team we should beat, even on the road. Play smart, defend hard and they should be OK. They need to keep Brooks from going off. To do that they need to keep him from getting the ball. Bishop is about the only defender we have that can shadow a guy on the floor. Once the ball is in the hands of a scorer it doesn't matter how you defend him, he'll find a way to score. Keep him from getting the ball and make the other guys beat you.

Mick has preached to Cash all year about just playing. Cash not doing that has never been because Mick restricted it. What Mick did do was simplify things for Cash so he doesn't have to think so much. Cash created his own issues by dribbling 35 feet from the basket and picking up his dribble. He also has a bad habit of driving with his head down. Let's not throw everything on the other players because a light bulb came on in Cash's head. When a point guard stands and dribbles the offense will stagnate and people will stop moving. He is the coach on the floor. Act like it!

I don't care who leads the team. Just lead it. It appears they are doing it as a whole and that's fine too. Accountability has to come from the players. Preached it all year long. It is a must to be a winning program.

I hear what you're saying and I agree, my point was more when he dribbles inside and no one moves to get open so he can dish. There are times you see him get to about five feet from the basket and look to dump it off and no one is open even though he has three guys on him. We all know the collective basketball IQ on this team is low. Our players don't really know how to position themselves without the ball to get open or they don't look for or expect a pass when someone penetrates the lane. I see players follow their defender into a double team rather than take a step back to get open. I by no means mean to give Cash a free pass, but I don't envy him being the pg of a team that has no idea how to space itself on the floor. Maybe some of that is his fault for not calling them out. I want to see him get in a guys face and tell him where he should've been if he is in the wrong place.

A good for instance of this came in the Louisville game when Wilks hustled up the floor to beat the defense on a fast break and the guy bringing the ball up (can't remember who it was) tried to give him the oop and he was looking for a rebound as opposed to the pass. Why beat the defense and not expect a pass and if your goal is to crash the boards its better to not be the first one down and be under the basket.

Never miss a chnace to take a shot do you?

Take a look at what TheLongHaul posted and you will see what I'm trying say. This has been the type of game that they have lost the past 3 years when their tourney hopes depended on it. I think the situation has set itself up for a major let down. With the committe basically looking for a reason to keep UC out of the field, this is a game they cannot lose, because I don't see them getting to 10 league wins if they lose (which is th only way they will get in, I don't care what anyone says 9-9 and this team will be left out, if that's all they have). Sorry if I am really nervous about the game.

I guess people like you and Jason should start your own forum or something where any skepticism based on facts is a shot at the coach. If you would have left it alone nothing would have happened but apparently you two are little girls with a crush on Mick or something. Sorry to break it to you but Ralph's already claimed him.

Its a fair point. Stating any skepticism automatically is a bash towards Mick around here. But ill assume fair points get you banned.

That's BS LL. Pure BS. I have been critical of Mick and called him out on the Yancy incident. I've questioned his game planning and his ability to bring a team together. The fact of the matter is there are some posters on here that simply do not like Mick Cronin and that is a fact. They will jump every word he says and every move he makes. SWG has also questioned Mick and I know other mods have as well.

You talk about fair points. To do that you have to be fair in all circumstances. That includes Mick Cronin. You can't complain about a guy when the team loses and not give him some props when the team wins. You can't have a team 20-6 and on the verge of playing in the NT and not give the coach some credit. To deny there is outright dislike and bashing by some on here would be a flat lie. To deny that some on here take every opportunity to be negative toward the program because of Mick Cronin would be a lie. If you think we don't see poster patterns and agendas you're flat wrong.

Some of you don't like when balance is brought to your argument. When it is you say people are Mick lovers. There is absolutely no basis for anybody to say that of me. There is also no reason for statements like the one Bearcat_NTS made about Jason and I. Another pattern on here is if you can't debate your point you resort to name calling. I've warned people I'm tired of it and I am.

Dear LL,

This is a fair point:

This is a personal attack:

I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, but do you see the difference? First half of the post is ok, second half of the post is so unacceptable that if we see it again we're probably talking about a lifetime ban.

Vegas has the game as a "pick'm."

This is not a gimme. Those that think so are uninformed. We'll need to play well to win.

Iv'e been a busy man. Havent been able to read all the posts but

Keep up the good play.

Now is the time to get on a roll. We've been haunted by terrible finishes under Mick. After an impressive win lets go on the road and get another solid victory.

Bring the fans back to the Shoe and get the NCAA committee to take note.
They seem to focus heavily on how teams finish a regular season

You are right about this. Didn't they say something about the NCAA Tourney Selection Committee was supposedly not looking at the final 10 games as a criteria any more? I thought they said this a couple years ago but every year it looks like they put a huge emphasis on it. Just seems a bit contradictory I guess. Either way, UC has to finish strong and that starts with a win tonight.

saw a stat the other day uc is 17-0 when scoring 63 or more. thats a very good stat, i expect that to continue
uc- 71
pc- 61

This is the sort of thing Mick has to deal with. He is the best coach in the nation and you are saying otherwise. Ed Jucker's days of having his name on the court are numbered. I think we are extremely privileged to have him at our university, I love him!!

Okay Ralphy, take your love elsewhere.
