I knew that was going to be the response, "what does that have to do with anything?" Yes, people can have an opinion, but is it a well informed opinion? In other words, it is like you having an opinion about how the doctor performed his heart by-pass surgery. Yes, an opinion, but worthless. I cannot believe the number of people, so uninformed, spewing out opinions about stuff they know nothing about. Sometimes you say the dumbest ass stuff I have heard. Just my opinion!
You know, I haven't posted on here in quite awhile. It's been a few years I think. (Not that you should care, but it's not for lack of, or a decrease in interest, as much as it lack of time)
Anyhoo, this is of course is my first post in quite some time. I guess the point of me pointing this out is that you should feel special. Yup, you. You're special. So special in fact, that this post is such a disaster that it compelled me to login and comment on it. No one has managed to do that in a long time. You're the big winner!
Your analogy is all sorts of awful. I'm not even sure where to start there. Your thought process is completely flawed, and your writing (the eloquent rebuttal you just graced us all with) reeks of pure bs.
You say you knew what he was going to say? Guess what? Everybody knew where you were going with that loaded question. You want to talk about a predictable stance? Look at that tired, bs logic you just spewed out. Everyone has heard that stupid, simpleton stance a million times before.
First of all, being able to critique a coaches performance is nowhere near as difficult for a laymen to do as is critiquing a doctor's open heart surgery. I'm sure this much is even obvious to you, but we might as well get that outta of the way just in case. I wouldn't use the argument that because my friend can't recite every single state capitol off the top of his head he's incapable of telling me what is the biggest state. They're completely unrelated questions, and, IMO, they're differing degrees of difficulty. They're as idiotically paired as what you just offered.
You don't need to be an expert on something to have an opinion. And sometimes you don't need to be an expert on something to have the right opinion either.
I know jack squat about refrigerators. Never even attempted to fix one. Don't know anything about their parts. But I do know when it's not cooling.
I don't know much about cars. I'm not a mechanic. But I can tell when my clutch is slipping or my brakes are going bad.
There are countless, perfectly qualified to give their opinion, commentators in the world of sports, who never played at a high level or coached. Heck, there's a lot of guys in front offices, making on the field decision, that never played or coached at a high level.
I don't care whether you played in the Pro Bowl or you never made it past JV ball, you don't have to be an expert to realize that things aren't great right now. Unless you're both blind and deaf, you had to have seen some of the crowd's reactions last week. They weren't the most positive.
You can gripe all you want about the average fan being misinformed, of about them saying "dumbest ass stuff". The fact of the matter is a lot of those fans are the same, or similar to, the people who drive this program. The people who spend money, give donations, show up. They're also known as customers.
From a business sense, and make no mistake, this is a business, their opinion matters. Collectively, the fanbases opinion matter almost more than any other one thing.
If you're going to convince anyone that they're wrong or misinformed, if you hope to change anyone's mind, you're going to have to a whole lot better than "nana, nana, nana you didn't play". You sound like a child.
If things don't get turned around soon, and I mean winning out and creating some goodwill and excitement, I'm afraid you'll see more and more frustration from the fans. If you want to bury your head in the sand and act like that's not a big deal then more power to you.
This program has gotten blown out way too much of late. And not against cream of the crop programs. We're not even competing for titles in the AAC, while campaigning for Big 12. These are problems. A good number of fans are pissed. Turn on any talk radio program or read any forum, or blog, or comment section for proof. That's a problem.
We're nowhere near the level of when Brian Kelly was here. We're not where we were with Butch Jones. And I'm not sure we're not currently worse now than when Dantonio was here either. All problems. Recruiting is a big problem. Local recruiting is a problem.
What's the solution? You tell me. Is it a wait till... solution. Is it all part of some bigger plan? Specifically, how do things get better or improve? Why should some of us be more confident or content with where we are? Convince me.
