Cincinnati received 21 votes in the AP Poll, good for #30. If Cincinnati sweeps this week, they will most likely be ranked.

EDIT: Cincinnati received 18 votes in the Coaches Poll, ranked #28.
Temple will be a tough game. Would love to see us have our usual good defensive game. Cut down on our TO's and be a bit more consistent offensively. This is what being a fan is all about. Every game from here on out is huge. League title, conference seeding,NCAA seeding it is all on the line from here to selection Sunday.

so you would rather we lose and be unranked heading into the X game he asks scratching his head.

No not at all. It just makes me a little uneasy for that particular game.

This team is very young and playing as a ranked team for the first time in a heated and emotional rivaly game just gives an uncomfortable feel.

I would not want to lose to Temple just so we could play Xavier unranked.

In fact, if someone held a gun to my head telling me that UC has to go 1-1 against Temple (tomorrow night) and Xavier, I would choose the Temple win and Xavier loss 11 out of 10 times.

I understand. I would rather win the Temple game as well. That said, I will be very disappointed if we don't win both. This team has played hard most of the year and came up big in big games. Hope that trend continues because all the games from here on out are big.

This team has taken small steps forward all year. They replaced 3 main pieces of the team from last year and integrated many new comers. Roles and rotation have been established along the way. It is time to develope some consistency. We seem to play down to our competition and that is a bad thing to do this time of year with so much at stake. One thing I can always say about Cronin teams is they play hard. I have moments with this group when I have my doubts. Along with Consistency we need to have that killer mentality against teams we should be shellacking. Its time we shift into the beast mode and begin playing the best basketball of our year. One of the group needs to step forward and assume the role of go to guy. Put the ball in my hands and I'll make something happen. Do we have that guy on this Team????

 no way

Once we're in good shape for the tourney, the next thing I care about is the shootout. It's a great rivalry and lately has been a chance for a good win. Besides, winning the 2 biggest home games of the year (UConn/X) would be great for the fans.

My thought it is never a bad time to be in the top 25.

Yep. It'd be great for the program to have a number by our name on national TV, in front of a huge crowd. I'd also be happy for our players bc they've worked and worked all year. They deserve it.

I hear what you're saying but a Temple loss could be the difference bewtween winning the AAC for the second straight year or receiving a 3 seed and possibly getting paired up with UCONN in our first game of the conferecne tournament on their home court.

RPI remains at 28. KenPom dropped 7 spots to #40. 106.2 offensively (85th) and 93.5 defensively (35th). Huge swing for a game so late in the season.

That KemPom drop has to be due to the defense. We were I believe 18th in the country before that game. To fall to 35th in one night...that'll do it.

1.28 PPP to a Temple team that came into the game ranked in the 220's in AdjO efficiency will do that.

I may be wrong but I didn't think the selection committee used KenPom as a means of making thier decisions do they?

Updated...
The conference tournament begins one month from this Thursday. I will be posting KenPom, RPI, Sagarin, AP/Coaches Poll, Bracket Projections from now on.

As of 2/12/15
Live-RPI: 29 (OOC SOS 18; Overall SOS 38)
KenPom: 40
-Adj Offense Efficiency: 106.2 (83rd)
-Adj Defense Efficiency: 93.2 (35th)
Sagarin: 49
ESPN BPI: 54
AP/Coaches Poll: RV/RV
Bracket Projection: 8 seed (29 overall)
**NCAA Mock Selection Committee: 7 seed (27 overall)**

Look at ESPN's current bracket projection. 10 seed vs Indiana in Pittsburgh with Villanova as the 2 seed. That would be a very good draw for us. Compare that to Xavier which is a 9 seed against MSU with Kentucky as the 1 seed.

That would be great. I noticed the Cats were on the ESPN list of last 4 byes. They need to close strong to avoid more serious bubble talk.

Usually, the impact of 1 game is overstated in relation to the bubble. But I think for UC, we've officially reached the point where every game is crucial. Even 1 more loss before Hartford will make things scary on selection sunday.

I'll give an unpopular opinion though... I wouldn't hate playing in Dayton. This team is running out of time to pull together and find a rhythm. Maybe it happens the last 5 games. Maybe in Hartford. To have an extra game against a beatable team to help us get kick-started would be OK in some ways. Obviously a loss would suck though lol

Doing some quick RPI comparison's using CBS's tool. Cincinnati is head and shoulders above all teams currently in the first 4 out and next 4 out. The 3 top 25 RPI wins alone, puts Cincinnati in good position. It is all about avoiding bad losses.
