Bowlsby on expansion talk: "I don’t think our position has changed one iota. ... We're going to stay at the 10 for the foreseeable future."

If the Big 12 expands, I like our chances. All we can do is put ourselves in the best position possible for the call-up. I don't expect Bowlsby or anyone else in the Big 12 camp to do anything other than deny expansion. It is in their best interest to deny it, and even though I think expansion could be good for the conference, I am convinced the Big 12 is, at best, divided on the issue. So I will take everything with a grain of salt and hope for the best.

Since 2000

Oklahoma
1 One loss season
1 Perfect season

Texas
3 One loss seasons
1 Perfect season

6 seasons in 15 years
If they don't expand and CFP stays at 4, the Big XII must like to gamble

Agreed. Im just guessing that if Baylor or TCU would have been Texas or Oklahoma this season then perhaps we'd not see OSU? Just speculating based on program prestige of those two schools.

LOL. Jeff Long specifically said Wednesday that prestige was not a factor for OSU getting in...

TOSU has had a great year. Lost 2 QB's! They dismantled the Badgers with the 3rd QB in conference championship game. The have gotten better as season has gone on and deserve to be in the top 4. The didn't get there by reputation. They are a good team.

They have gotten better as the season has gone, starting with Cincinnati!!!

I am interested in how the B1G does in the bowl games against other conferences. All of their big OOC opponents they lost to. I think Nebraska beating Miami may be B1g's best OOC win.

I am pretty sure that the B1G is the underdog in every bowl game this season.

Interesting material on this website regarding the Town Hall meeting last night:

http://cincyontheprowl.com/2014/12/12/tweetcap-university-cincinnati-town-hall/

Some key tweets were, Mick doesn't want to play Dayton and Miami-OH, he wants to play Kentucky and Kansas.

Mick contacted Jay Wright to play Nova but Wright wants to play in New Jersey, Mick wants home and home.

Gene Smith AD of OSU still wont play UC in basketball per Mick.

Entire 16-17 season will be played at NKU, Cincy Gardens or US Bank Arena during renovation

Assertions such as that stated are irrelevant at this point. Whether or not they plan to expand they will always deny it at this preliminary stage. You don't have to be John Stuart Mill to figure that out.

At X was an option given as well which met a very loud boo. People got to vote by show of hands and X drew no interest except one guy later said he wants to play there. The Gardens drew very few hands. NKU and US Bank got the best support.

Mick's comments on Miami and Dayton when asked why we don't play them were "that benefits Miami and Dayton, not Cincinnati" then he said "I want to play Kentucky and Kansas". He also said when someone grilled him about better non-conference opponents that he has never turned down anybody that wanted a home-and-home (big time programs) and was pretty emphatic about it. That's when he mentioned Villanova and said him and Jay Wright were discussing a deal for a home-and-home and Wright said he wanted a nuetral game in New Jersey, then he laughed and said that's a home game for them.

The town hall meeting was pretty interesting, it mostly dealt with the new arena and answering questions regarding that. It seems as if it is a go. The main thing I picked up on it were 6,000 of the current seats at 5/3rd are the upperdeck bleacher seats and they recognize that is a huge problem. Also only something like 2400 are lower level seats. The new configuration will be 10,504 seats I believe and roughly 2/3rds will be lower bowl/premium seats. Bohn said they looked at turning the court but basically the endzone seats would be at a bad angle for viewing the game so they couldn't go forward with that plan. One cool thing they are doing which I didn't see from the survey is opening up the UCats club with no glass and attaching seats in front. Also Bohn said that structurally they have to keep within the confines of the box and the current structure and the roof will stay the same. He also said they wanted to have this be the last year at the current arena and play elsewhere next year, but due to the laws of having time for open bids for the project it had to be held off another year. He was kind of running his mouth about some stuff too and was getting looks from some of the other athletic people not to say what he was saying when talking about future opponents. He leaked that we are playing in a preseason tournament in MSG next year and was quickly told that hasn't been announced yet. He also alluded to some football opponents in the future. He said Nebraska was coming to Nippert which I think I remember hearing on here a while back, also said a "west coast team that starts with an A". He didn't seem as if anything was in the works about a change of conference only that they understand the need to be in a power conference. He was really carefully wording himself on the matter as obviously that's what everyone wanted to know about. If he knows something he sure wasn't going to leak it. One other interesting thing he said was regarding Michigan. He said we're supposed to get a home-and-home for basketball which we all knew in return for playing football up there but he said they are delaying any talks of setting up dates for the basketball games, saying they are waiting for us to be in a down period. Mick, too, when talking about non-conference opponents said that now that we're not in the Big East playing tougher opponents in league we have to look outside of conference to strengthen the schedule. He said this year's non-conference slate is easily the toughest in his time here, including his time as an assistant. He said next year he wants to have the toughest non-conference schedule in the country.

Was this meeting open to season ticket holders? I've never heard of them holding something like this, but it is very interesting

What's this supposed to mean? "He said we're supposed to get a home-and-home for basketball which we all knew in return for playing football up there but he said they are delaying any talks of setting up dates for the basketball games, saying they are waiting for us to be in a down period."

Are they waiting for us to be a paid-off cupcake to not make them look bad? I hope punching of the face occurred if this is so.

They sent an invitation out to select/random ucats members. From what I understand they've had them before for high donors only. This time they allowed a variety of donors. There were maybe 200 people there.

That's kind of what he implied. You can tell bohn is passionate about his job and he talks to you like a regular guy, not pc at all. I doubt they came right out and told him they're waiting for us to be down, but he didn't hide at all his feelings that's the impression he's getting from them because they're putting off setting dates.

Well then I guess they will never get a chance to schedule us and we should cash on the breach of contract right now then woohoo go cats!

Honestly it could just be bohn trying to rally the crowd. I think Michigan is smart enough to see we're a program on the rise and there's no reason to believe we'll be worse in a few years than we are now. If that were the case they should've scheduled us this year early since we're young and rebuilding. I just thought it was interesting he said it.

Thanks David! Really good info and it's much appreciated. Also really exciting stuff for us fans!

If that's the case, you shouldn't run around and make noise about OSU doing the exact same thing. Frankly, when it comes to scheduling, I think he should be more realistic and concerned about attendance. This investment in the arena, and for that matter, his salary, are not justified based on his record of generating interest in his program. I think it's sad that there is a proposed 20% decrease in capacity, basically an admission that there is no strategy for getting attendance back to the levels experienced when Huggs was here.

Also, by not going downtown, I think they are missing out on a huge opportunity to position the brand. I.e., Xavier plays on campus, but the University of Cincinnati plays on the river, next to the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. Louisville (with the Yum Center) is the perfect example of what the program should strive to become.
