I wouldnt cancel the series. I disagree about moving it downtown and think it should still be home and home as long as Xavier can keep things under control which at this point I think they would have a hard time doing. This may be the only option and if it needs to happen to keep the series going im fine with that.

I am hoping that this will be just a 2 year deal then back to home and home once Xavier cleans up their act.

I am sick of you calling Xavier fans and the University trash. I know a lot of good people who are Xavier fans. STOP IT!

Really? A messageboard trashing of Xavier and it's fans bothers you to this extent.

How do you feel about O$U and it;s fans because I could drive you over the edge!

I don't like Xavier and I don't like OSU. I think OSU has the worst fans but that doesn't mean they are all "trash." I know a bunch of good OSU fans. The lack of respect some people show here is bothersome. People complain about Xavier fans coming here and hijacking threads but what do you expect with comments like the ones from Ralph and BearcatMick? We want this board cleaned up and it starts with respect.

If someone other than bearcatmick said it, I agree with you. However, bearcatmick said it so its not even worth responding to.

Interesting tidbit on perception outside of Cincinnati. I was in New York last week to see the Reds play and during the first game vs. the Mets a blowhard Mets fan was behind us taunting our group of about 50. He started with asking us how we could treat Eric Davis so bad (I assume he saw the recent documentary where he called out Marge Schott) and yelling out Marge Schott's name. Then he started chanting Stanley Wilson. Then he asked us to do the Ickey Shuffle. Then he started chanting Yancy Gates, to which I turned around and said hey, that's my boy. Then I joined him when he chanted let's go Bearcats. So the average fan who obviously doesn't know much history about Cincinnati sports, sure knew who Yancy Gates was. The funny thing is Mike Leake was on the mound...he should've done his homework.

Haha good story. Yancy certainly made a name for himself, both schools got national attention in the wrong way.

I think one of the best gifts UC could give to their fans is to cancel the Xavier game and replace it with a better tri-state opponent yearly.

Nothing better than a parting slap to the Norwood U. Gangstateers.

How are you guys upset by this? I am thrilled.

I am very happy I get to see the game live every year. It is going to be a blast to go down before hand and have some drinks and talk smack at Holy Grail or the lagar house.

Downtown is so much better than clifton. No more games at Cintas that I cant go to.

This is awesome and is becoming more and more the trend in hoops. Atmosphere will be electric.

I agree. I'm happy the series is continuing. The re-branding as the "Cross Town Classic" over "Cross Town Shootout" seems like one of those silly boardroom decisions that will ultimately have zero impact but took hours to debate and will result in a handful of out of touch people patting themselves on the back.
