Crosstown Shootout at US Bank!

Help Support BearcatTalk:

How are you guys upset by this? I am thrilled.

I am very happy I get to see the game live every year. It is going to be a blast to go down before hand and have some drinks and talk smack at Holy Grail or the lagar house.

Downtown is so much better than clifton. No more games at Cintas that I cant go to.

This is awesome and is becoming more and more the trend in hoops. Atmosphere will be electric.

I hate the idea of punishing the fans (especially the students) for something that really didn't involve them, but it will still be a fun time.

I think part of the negativity comes from the PBS experience.

Looks like season ticket holders will be given to buy tickets to the game first. The thought is that there will not be any tickets available to the public after the season ticket holders buy them all up. Better get season tickets if you want to see the game live.

I think the tickets will be split 50/50, right? That means about 8500 tickets for each school, give or take? I really doubt there are 8500 season tickets sold for any Bearcat Season. There will be tickets available, has to. That goes for X too, I doubt they have 8500 season ticket holders out of the 10000 Cintas holds.

I agree. I'm happy the series is continuing. The re-branding as the "Cross Town Classic" over "Cross Town Shootout" seems like one of those silly boardroom decisions that will ultimately have zero impact but took hours to debate and will result in a handful of out of touch people patting themselves on the back.

Changing it from Shootout to Classic will subliminally change the thinking of all those gangstas at Norwood U. who like to brawl and tumble. Hopefully their players will get it in their heads it's a "Classic" and cut out the punk stuff they've been doing for years because it was called the "Shootout". I blame whoever named it originally. It caused these kids to want to go hurt someone. ;) :D

The XU students were the major cause of the problems that occurred, to say it did not involve them is ridiculous.

I will be the first to predict that the game will not sell out. As the game is not part of the season ticket package, season ticket holders will be reluctant to shell out another $50 or so a seat to go downtown. A lot of old season tickets holders, not me, are afraid to go downtown.

There will be plenty of tickets available, the game will not sell out.

Jason, the season ticket holders will not buy them up, there will be plenty of tickets available. There are a lot of tight old season ticket holders who will not spend the extra $50 or so a seat.

It's a stupid idea and a gross overreaction to a fight.

It is not the fight between the players that is causing the switch to US Bank, it is the behavior of XU fans, in particular XU students, that is the cause of the switch. UC will never again play at Cintas because of the XU fan bad behavior.

You guys are all forgetting about the number of students who will also have an opportunity to buy a ticket BEFORE the general public. Season ticket holders will, I'm sure, have an opportunity to buy an extra ticket per seat they have. I'll be surprised if there are a bunch of tickets available as Ralph claims.

IMO this has a lot more to do about moving events downtown than anything else. There really is no bigger collegiate sporting event in the tri-state than the Crosstown Shoo... er Classic. With the Banks downtown and with the city facing finacial peril now this is going to be the future folks. They want people down there to hit up the Holy Garil and the Lager House before and after the game.

If there's not going to be fights in the 50/50 crowd, there will be in the bars....or both. If USB Arena sells alochol, it will add fuel to the fire.

Let's start raising an army. In all seriousness, I don't think this is a good move. This is going to be more like a Bengals vs. Steelers crowd. The teams don't necessarily fight but there's always a few that break out in the stands.

Tickets wont last 1 day.

I know XAvier will sell out quick.

You be wrong on this one, they have a lot of old season ticket holders who are afraid to go downtown.

Also, there are more than a few who will not buy tickets because some of the proceeds are going to the Freedom Center. Many, many individuals believe the Freedom Center should never have been built and are upset that public money is used to support it.

Student tickets will more than likely be limited to 1,000, 500 for each school, and they will not be free. Student tickets will be priced about $20 to $25. Students will not buy because they will be mad that they have to pay.

Every UC football game is bigger than the UC/XU basketball game. UC football averaged over 30,000 last season. There has never been a college basketball game played in Cincinnati attended by 30,000.

The game is during winter break. Students will not be in session

There is a big portion of the student body that lives in the greater Cincinnati/Dayton/Columbus areas that will be at the game. They won't have any problems finding students to go to this game and yes, students will pay for tickets.

This is the second worst decision in recent UC basketball history.

Bunch of old idiots ruining a rivalry for the students. Well done jack@$$.
