Brannen just announced it's on. They tried to play like it might not happen, but I think this was all to generate some publicity.

Crosstown Shootout Dec 6, 2020 Fifth Third Arena

UC very clearly didn't want to have their home game wasted this year on an empty arena.

Xavier said tough.

With Covid and no fans in the arena, I dont think this will be like any shootout we have ever seen. For me it was weird to watch the Libscom game with no fans, It was like watching my cousins jr high games with just family in attendance. I think it will be weird for all involved this year because the fans make the rivalry so intense and every time we score the crowd goes nuts. Also with Mick gone i feel like a lot of the hate has died. I feel like for the last 10 years it has always felt like Xavier vs Mick. I absolutely despise that school in norwood but this year just feels different (for an obvious reason). We have only played on game and xavier has played 5 so who the hell knows what's gonna happen Sunday. Also the 3pm time slot on a Sunday is BS, competing with the NFL.

With only one game under its’ belt, it’s like the
Bearcats are walking into a dark room. X, with
five games at least knows where the furniture
is. Also, IMO, the talent disparity seems to favor
X this year. Unfortunately, could be ugly.

67-64 good guys

Keith Williams breast feeds Paul Scruggs and makes him beg for more.

After this game Travis Steele formally changes his name to Travis Brittle because the metal industry is embarrassed to be associated with such softness.

Hehe, would like nothing more.
From what I saw the other night (I know it’s early),
X has 3 other guards that likely will have greater
Impact on the game than Scruggs. Gonna hope
Tandy & Odom are the bad side of their
inconsistency.

They’ve only won by a couple points in 3 of their games, they’re nothing special

I expect we are going to have to use one or two of these 3 players a lot. Eason, Dou, Dav. As long as two perform decent (or one really good) and we can avoid super cold shooting by us or super hot shooting by them. I think we win this game...

The biggest concern is our defense, Lipscomb had quite a bit of success with their guards driving to the basket and Xavier's guards are significantly better. Xavier's big men aren't exactly all that big, but they can shoot it from three. I'm guessing the are basically going to play a 5 out motion on offense and force Rap/Vogt to guard the perimeter (or go to the bench). Our guards are going to need to play D without any big backing them up in the paint if they make a mistake.

On the other side, Vogt/Rap need to really pound it in the interior to take advantage of their size. Given our shooting last game, don't be surprised if Xavier plays zone to try to take Vogt/Rap out of the game and force our guards to show they can hit threes. Somebody needs to hit some threes to prevent them from just collapsing the interior.

Rap has less of a size advantage of offense then he did last game and he didn't do particularly well of taking advantage of the mismatch. Vogt has a pretty big size mismatch though, so one major story of the game is going to be Freemantle/Vogt, who can score on the other and who can guard the other.

As Waterhead says, we probably need Eason, Dou or Davenport to have a good game. One or more of them is going to be called on if Rap/Vogt struggle in their matchup or if our defense struggles to guard the paint. I'm hoping for a close game that goes UC's way.

Eason has dialed down the mistakes a little. Saunders was good.

Harvey barely played. WTF is up there? Attitude?

Idc we have a lot of talent on this team. They just gotta learn to gel, especially on defense. That’s my biggest concern this year.

We have missed open 3's, they have missed open 3's. Not a lot of defense is being played. Xavier's biggest weakness has been TO's, we've gotten a lot of fast break points.

Keith put up some I’ll advised 3s. Raps shot looks horrendous. Just take good set 3s off the pass and they will go in
