ralph1950;38399[B said:]and Buckeyes fans faces [/B]should Washington and Stanford commit to UC after their official visit this weekend. Not saying it is going to happen but being the last official visit is a good thing as you get to make the last impression.
Non,
The Ohio State gets depth in their recruiting. Not just 1 or 2 guys
I have no information at all but I got to believe Stanford is in Washington's ear. The fact that Washington wants to visit UC after taking visits to Mich St, Bama, and OSU is amazing.
Washington would have the chance to be a Yancy Gates type of recruit for the football team. In fact, I hope the coaches get Adulphus and Stanford together with Yancy to talk about having pride in the hometown school.
True, rivals has the 2012 class at 22 overall.
Tough year for the Buckeyes
All you have to do is look at Notre Dame to see how recruiting services inflate rankings based on where a kid signs. OSU would kill to have Pead right now. Where was he ranked? I promise you he would have been at least a 4 star recruit if he went to OSU. Think about all the other "star" players on OSU's roster that are average at best. They were all top recruits for the most part. You can have your rivals ratings as far as I care.
Here is what I do not understand.
Why is that UC Football always tries to compare or better them selves than The Ohio State. I respect the UC Football program and my day is not made by them losing. When The Ohio State loses all the UC Football fans come out of the woodwork and make dumb remarks, like bUCkeye state, we would beat Ohio State, and so on. Worry about your own team and respect the programs around you. Ohio is breading grounds for college football coaches all over the country. A lot of Ohio players go to UC, The Ohio St and all the Mac schools in this state. Wish them all well.
It is fans like this that turn me away from UC Football

I agree with you on a lot of points ready2go. I hate when UC fans try to compare themselves to OSU fans. I think it would be really nice if Cincy can step its game up and then we could have two powers in Ohio.
Although I understand the concept I am about to share it is what really upsets me about OSU..
I can not stand people who just cheer for a team and not a program. It burns me up when UC bball fans are OSU football fans. Again, I understand it but I really wish people would support the university and program.
I actually feel that people would enjoy the college game if they had a program they could get behind and not just a team.
I don't know about others, but I've hated the cheaters at O$U long before I became a Bearcat.
Screw 'em.
UC is ranked higher than Ohio State. Ohio State is afraid to play UC, Ohio State canceled next years UC game to instead play Central Florida.
I don't think OSU fans hate UC. They get upset when they see comments about OSU being afriad to play UC or that UC is "Ohio's only BCS school".
In the same regard...
I think UC fans get upset when OSU fans refuse to acknowledge Cincy's success and show arrogance. Arrogance that UC fans feel is unwarrented.
I don't think it is going to stop honestly. Trust me, I get the idea of cheering for teams and not programs. I grew up a ND football fan as a kid but when I went to high school I became a fan of a program.
I am not going to say who you should or shouldn't root for. I went to Mount St. Joseph and I currently go to Xavier for grad school. I don't support either athletic program and some would argue that I should.
While I understand it I truely believe it is much more fun to pick one and get behind it in all sports, go to the games, go to the coaches shows, go to pre game activities. You get a hell of a lot more out of it then watching 10-12 games on TV and maybe going to 1 game a year.

Good debate going here. I for one understand UC is an up and comer and OSU is the top dog. Yeah we might finish ahead of them this year, but that doesn't mean our program is anywhere near where it needs to be to be considered on the same level as OSU's. I think the local bandwagon fans who joined UC's success the past few years are the type of fans who are just blindly biased to whatever is hot and not really knowledgable to everything. I think a lot of the OSU fans we would consider blowhards (or any other elite programs fans) are the same type of fans. They follow who is winning and don't really have loyalty to that program. Unfortunately these are usually the type of fans that are seen and heard most because they make ignorant comments. Any real fan of UC would not be dumb enough to compare itself to OSU. With that said we want to get there.
Ready2go, when you were there in the Tinker Keck era, I was one of the few in the stands cheering with you. I know how bad and where our program was just ten to fifteen years ago. As far as rooting against Ohio State, I fully do. I respect them as a program, but it does give me pleasure to see them not so high and mighty. And honestly, just because I don't want to see a team I hate do well. That's why I root for X to lose and why it pained me to see the Cardinals win the World Series. I am, as most know on here, an alum and have full allegiance to my Bearcats. Students of my day were kinda taught to hate OSU. Stems from the glory days of Huggins and them refusing to play us. OSU has a superiority complex in that they think they are the only big time program in the state of Ohio. While that was clearly true in football forever and ever it wasn't true in basketball and if they had played and lost to us it would kind of dismiss that whole notion. I wish we did play them in football on a somewhat regular basis. The best way for us to make a name for ourselves is to play and beat them. We fight for the same local recruits. That's why it upsets me we aren't playing them next year. Beating them on the field (not that we would, but if we did) would be the best way to get recruits to look at us on the same level as them and start winning some of those big recruits. I think that Xavier can tie the majority of its success to the fact that they were able to play and beat us. Beating the #1 team twice in such a short span and roughly splitting the series with us the past 15-20 years elevated their brand. Suddenly they got the pub of a decent program even though for years they were clearly inferior to us as a program. Now success in basketball is alot easier to attain than success in football as one or two good players can vault you to success. Winning the Big East is great but we need to beat (and realistically be able to beat) some of the elite programs to step up to the next level. Playing OSU is, IMO, the best and easiest way to do that. The next best way would to be actually winning some BCS games. I realize OSU won't play us regularly and honestly it doesn't make sense for them to. They gain nothing by beating us. I wish UC hadn't dropped that game. Next year could be the best chance to beat OSU in Columbus as they are down right now. I understand why they did, but I'm sure they could've dropped an Akron or a D-1AA school (FCS if you want to get technical) just as easy.
