I honestly think TC should be playing the 2 guard. I think his TO rate would go way down. He does not have the handles to play PG at the level we need a PG to play. He dribbles way to high and is a little too slow to break his man or the D down off the dribble. He's long and is a good passer so he gets away with having average handles for a PG. When he does get past his man going to the bucket he's pretty good at using his body in the lane.

I really hope Jenifer is the real deal at PG (I think he is or will be). That would solve 2 problems at the same time. If Evans can shoot and is a capable slasher it solves 2 more problems.

I know that is a lot riding on the frosh...but a fan can dream right? I'm not even sure if the coaches would consider moving Troy to the 2 guard but I think if Jenifer is ready the team might perform better in that type of lineup

That's interesting. What if we went...

Jenifer/Cobb
Caupain/KJ
Shaq/Evans
Clark/Moore
Ellis/DeBerry

I'd like to see us beat the crap out of bad teams next year so we can bring our freshman along. I mean, this year Moore got reamed out by everyone and accused of costing us the game bc he took a shot. 1 shot. He was a borderline top 100 guy and 25% through his college career, and we can't even afford to have him take a single shot. That's terrible. And imo, not his fault. Get rid of the zone defense. What if Evans can't play at the bottom of the zone effectively? Is he benched all year? I just don't even want to go down that road. Stop the zone to stop low possession, tight, 52-50 style games. And if you do, you can beat the bad teams like you should and get the young guys more game experience. Then maybe we won't have to kill these guys for having the nerve to shoot the ball a couple times if/when we need them out there in big moments.

We had an excuse to play zone last year to start the year as a young team. Closer to the end we were down Guyn, Strickland, Moore (at one point) as well as Morman. That 10 man rotation does look strong, and any little bit our incoming freshman contribute is just gravy. We're already a solid team coming back and if the current players grow and each one comes out a little stronger next year then we make our deep run and get that 3rd NCAA championship... I expect Troy to take a big leap and be closer to 14 PPG. Gary and Ellis should be close to averaging a double double. KJ and Cobb really need to get their 3 pt % up. I don't expect much from Shaq, but if he can consistently get us 8-12 I would be happy. It would be the best surprise ever if he has a Justin Jackson type offseason and comes out a completely different player.

This first year we really used zone majority of time. Go back to man on man wearing teams down.

Does Evans play over kj? Cobb, Shaq, TC go play probably over 30min. Where does kj, Evans and jenifer get minutes?

You think Shaq and Cobb get that many minutes? I bet they will in some key games, but a lot of the time I bet/hope we won't need our key guys to rack up a ton of minutes like that.

Yeah I'd say Troy, Clark and Ellis all need to play 30+ minutes next year. The rest is up for grabs. DeBerry showed us all something in the tournament and his minutes need to increase next year. Wish we had him longer... We changed our lineup a couple times this year Cobb over KJ and Sanders over Shaq and I bet we have several lineups next year too

I like that better because TC has shown he can make a good % and he's got better height for set shooting over defenders. He's longer and can make better entry passes to the block too. Cobb likes to work off the dribble and is a little short to get off all his shots by just standing there and receiving passes. It's tough to make entry passes with his size too.

I think they can play both positions when they are both out there...but when Jenifer is in...they would only play the 2 guard. That's what I like about what Jenifer brings...pure PG...he will not be mistaken for anything else.

Yeah Cobb is dependable, quiet and listens to instructions, he's Mick type of player. Shaq is going to dominate next year if we open up offense and he works on corner 3.

Shaq will never dominate. He's pretty good in transition but even then he can't finish and can't hit midrange jumpers. And what's the obsession with the corner 3? Is it better than other 3's?

Yes, the corner three is the most efficient shot in basketball (easiest to shoot, worth the most).

NM, not sure if you edited your post but I missed the last part. Either way, Shaq will never be a good 3 point shooter.

Efficient as in highest percentage? Why?

It is a shorter distance to the basket than a three pointer from the top of the key. It has become really popular in NBA analytic discussions.

It’s a bedrock principle of modern NBA offense that the corner 3 is one of the more desirable shots in the game. The numbers bear this out as the league as a whole shot 39% from the corner as compared to 35.3% above the break. While at first glance that might not seem like a huge gap, in terms of per possession efficiency it’s roughly equivalent to the gap between the best and worst (non-Philadelphia division) offenses in the NBA last season.

That Alston Davis kid just kills corner 3s in his highlight video. I wish we'd keep guys stationed there sometimes too to let Troy and Ellis or Clark run a spacier 2 man game.

We used to run that with Field Williams in the corner but we would need a specialist (3 point shooter) to really make that work.

The NBA line has to square off along the sidelines due to having to have space for you to be able to be in bounds and get a shot behind the line. In college its a shorter line and a true arc if I'm not mistaken. Therefor a corner 3 in college is the same distance as any other 3. I will say it's easier to get a man open for a corner 3 so I wouldn't be surprised if the shooting percentages are still higher.

Sanders was stationed in corner a lot. Clark and shaq have to hit that shot next year. The floor has more spacing with shooters in corner.

I don't know about Clark shooting the 3, but Shaq needs to improve on it to stretch the defense more. I don't cringe as much when Shaq shoots it, compared to when Titus Rubles used to. Hopefully Evans gives us that at the 3
