Wouldn't be a bad $100 bet to make. On the off chance they did win it, that $10,000 would be a nice return :)

BearCats vs. UConn (2015-16)

85% chance this is our starting line-up barring some very unforeseeable events:

Sterling Gibbs (Sr/GS)
Rodney Purvis (Jr)
Daniel Hamilton (Soph)
Shonn Miller (Sr/GS)
Amida Brimah (Jr)

Key Reserves:

Jaylen Adams (Frosh. consensus Top 25 recruit on several sites)
Omar Calhoun (Sr.)
Phil Nolan (Sr.)
Terrence Samuel (Jr.)
Steve Enoch (Frosh 4**** recruit)

What are your thoughts on how our teams match-up? Are both E8 or Final4 caliber teams? I think we both are.

I like our chances! Glad UConn will have a solid team coming back as well. We need all the help we can get in the American. Luckily you guys give us 1 National Championship for our new conference, and a rich basketball history. Looking forward to our teams facing off

I think uconn will be a very good team next year, much much improved. Jaylen adams is a great incoming freshman and Gibbs is a great addition, these two with your returning guys makes you a tough team. This has become a great rivalry and will be fun to watch next year. I expect a great overall season from the aac every team should be better next year

Always close games between these two programs. Over the last 12-13 games I believe overall points are nearly identical.

With UConn, I think it all comes down to leadership. They had more than enough talent to make the tournament last year, but something was obviously missing. No offense to Ryan Boatright, but I feel he wasn't the leader that folks thought he would be. If leadership emerges, UConn should easily be a tournament team.

I agree with you on this as it relates to Boatright. To be honest assuming we land Gibbs which I expect to happen within the next couple weeks...it will be interesting to see how the Purvis/Gibbs dynamic plays out from a leadership perspective. Locker room problems surfaced at Seton Hall over these exact issues. If leadership and good chemistry emerges we will fight it out with Cinci for the top spot in the AAC.

Who is the leader right now for the BearCats? Any 1 player in particular? As an outsider it seems to me it would clearly be Troy.

As far as the leadership role goes I would say Troy definitely. It is more of a group thing though with our seniors Ellis, Shaq, Cobb and DeBerry. I look for Troy to take that leadership role over, with the others plus Gary Clark and Kevin Johnson stepping up as well

Yeah, I would say this is Troy's team, but I think that role is shared more as opposed to, say, Sean Kilpatrick or Shabazz Napier who were the undisputed leaders of their teams. It might be more like that in Troy's senior year, but next year I think the seniors plus Gary Clark (more through his actions than words) will share a lot of the role.

10. Villanova 11. Cal 12. Indiana 13. Gonzaga 14. Michigan 15. West Virginia 16. SMU 17. UConn 18. Georgetown 19. Arizona 20. Cincinnati

^released his Top 25 this morning. #20 sure beats being unranked.

At some point I think we will be in the top 10 next year, we might not stay there long but we should be around a 4 seed come tourney time

I think SMU is overrated despite the return of Kennedy & Moore. They lost a lot in the front court. The AAC will be an outright hoops war at the top with the BearCats and UConn. Tulsa is the sleeper in my opinion to win it. UConn needs team chemistry to develop with the addition of Gibbs. Our roster is stacked and UConn has a rep for coming back big after NIT seasons. I still think the AAC could get 5 bids this year. OOC performance is key and UConn has a mean OOC and I know the BearCats play Iowa State at home. Who else do you have?

This is my predicted order of finish:

1) Cincinnati (deference to your returning core with Final4 aspirations)
2) Connecticut (IF chemistry comes together could win it all)
3) Tulsa (returns everyone)
4) & 5) Tied in the standings Memphis/SMU

I think you are underestimating SMU. They along with UC and UConn will be in the mix to win the league.

Our OOC opponents as of now are: Iowa State, @Xavier, @VCU, Butler, Barclay's Classic in Brooklyn against 2 of Nebraska, George Washington and Tennessee. It's a decent schedule but I'd like us to add one more marquee opponent along with the solid mid-majors we've had recently.

I agree about SMU. Tulsa will need some offensive balance. UConn will be likely to be picked as league favorite and I think that it will be them and UC fighting for the league crown. Huskies v. UC has developed into a helluva rivalry.

As long as Memphis has the head coach they have it's hard for me to pick them for anything.

Bulldog is right about Clark having same skill set as millsap. Clark needs to develop his shot and handles in the half court instead of just backing people into the post, but I totally agree with that comparison.
