Former Bearcats

Two of his old teammates from Prolific Prep are there. That was likely a big deciding factor.

They return 2 starters and a 6th man that averaged 11 ppg from a team that went 22-5 and won the Big West last season (also finished 58th in Ken Pom).

They've won 20+ games for the past 4 seasons. They're a good program in a bad conference.

Right, but I expected him to get some power 5 offers that would wanna take a chance on a former top 50 guy.

Jaevin Cumberland named assistant coach at springboro high school... love to see it, kid can flat out shoot the ball and I am happy to see him getting a shot at coaching

Nysier Brooks transferred to Ole Miss. I forgot that he had to sit a year when he went to Miami despite the coaching change here. So I don't know what to think about Koval's waiver.

Rumor was that Brooks wanted to sit out a year. He's trying to take advantage of the system to essentially give himself 7/8 free years of college. Guess it is a good plan if he doesn't want to go pro internationally.

Although Nsoseme also didn't get a waiver. Hardnett and LoJo did.

Rumor is that the NCAA may make it harder to get a waiver now. I hope Koval gets a waiver (don't think he's worth it if he doesn't), but it doesn't seem like a sure thing.

That makes sense. Maybe Brooks and Nsoseme didn't even apply for waivers.

I believe Nsoseme applied and was rejected. Not positive on that.

Hardnett (forced out by Brannen) and LoJo (family medical reasons) had reasons outside the coaching change to get a waiver.

Kenny Satterfield was just named the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Hughes HS.

I believe his son was a standout sophomore at Oak Hills this past season.

Ah, good catch. Those 6th year players slipped right under my nose.

Zach Harvey (UCSB) and Quill Hardnett will also be in action tonight.

Hardnett's Buffalo squad was picked to win the MAC and will face off against #6 Michigan in their first game.

ESPN/ESPN+ recently published an "Early 2021-22 men's college basketball transfer scorecard: Who has surprised, who has disappointed?"

Under the "Best of the best" column:

Tari Eason, LSU:

Eason showed flashes of his potential last season at Cincinnati, but saw inconsistent minutes and rarely had a chance to show his true ceiling. That hasn't been an issue this season -- despite coming off the bench in every game. Eason has been one of the best defensive players in the country, while also averaging 15.8 points and 7.4 rebounds. He was outstanding against Georgia Tech last weekend, finishing with 23 points and six boards on 9-for-13 shooting.

Tre Scott scored his first NBA points last night for the Cavs in a blowout win over the Raptors.

He finished with 6 points and 2 rebounds on 3-6 shooting over 9 minutes.
