You said take his scholarship

It's rare when Jason and I agree but he is correct. i definitely dont agree with the calipari's, Mack's, lavin's, and pitino's of the world that oversign and treat kids like statistics.

Please stop, you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I worded it a little weird looking back, but you know what I mean-if he isn't going to develop, he should explore other options. Whatever, lets move on. It's just a "what-if" scenario anyways. Hopefully, he can play tuesday, would like to see him build on a solid last exhibition game.

It doesn't. Achiuwa is still on scholarship and adding Lawrence still takes another scholly. Might make SJU more attractive to Lawrence but only if he's a one and done. Otherwise you have a logjam when Achiuwa comes back a year later.

I think I answered your question in there somewhere.:p

I know the scholarship situation. My point was (and I think you repeated it in your last sentence) that Aciuwa plays the same position as Lawrence. If Achiuwa doesn't redshirt this year that opens up PF playing time for Lawrence. If Achiuwa does redshirt that means that Lawrence will have to compete with Achiuwa for playing time. I'm sure they are different players and from I know Lawrence is more of a face up PF but it would still eat into his playing time.

It's much easier if you just ignore him. He's very much into the ad hominem attacks.

Yeah, BearcatMick is taking this a bit over the top. Almost trying to pick a fight.

I think Mick is classy not running players off or overrecruiting and then running them off. The only players to leave were Crowell, who knew he might have to. And Mitchell and Ellis, who both got into trouble.

This is one of those seasons where UC is loaded in the upperclasses. Mbodj (sr.), Nyarsuk (jr.), Jackson (jr.), Rubles (jr.), S K (jr.), Wright (sr.), Parker (sr.). That's 7 of your 13 that are upper classmen. It's going to be hard for true freshmen, redshirt frosh, and some sophomores to see much playing time unless they serve a key role, such as Guyn at backup PG. And Guyn is the heir apparent to Wright for next season, so experience would be well served in prep for next season.

The rotation appears set with Mbodj and Nyarsuk at center, Rubles/Jackson at PF, Wright/Guyn at PG, and then S K/Parker at the 2 and 3, with Sanders and JDIII their key backups. Thomas isn't going to see the floor much this season. And neither is Gaines.

Gaines time will come next season when Mbodj is gone.

Jermaine Lawrence ought to take a serious look at UC considering Rubles/Jackson will be seniors next year, and he'd step right in his sophomore season if he is what the hype says.

That's fine. He will develop though

I personally think Shaq will see more playing time than JDIII, / and rubles wont just be a power forward, he will be a PF, SF, and a SG at times.

I really don't see Gaines ever doing much. He could maybe help Tennessee Martin out though. He has no emotion and it seems no drive either.

I still think Gaines will help this year. He won't get a lot of minutes. He will help by giving some extra fouls. Everybody on this team can run. Gaines will continue to improve. It has taken longer than all of us had hoped, but I really think he can still help. Mbjo(sp) looks like a different player. Our frontcourt will contest a lot of shots, and get some rebounds. With our guards, they do not have to dominate... I still have faith..

Well, I disagree.

1. Shaq looks completely lost to me. And his shot is too forced, no arc, along with poor shot selection. His lack of defense will keep him off the court.

2. It's pretty clear that Mbodj and Nyarsuk are going to rotate at the 5. And pretty clear that Jackson and Rubles are going to rotate at the 4. And not only is it clear, it makes the most sense.

3. Also very clear that Guyn is the backup at PG. I think if Guyn goes down with injury then Parker backs up Wright.

4. Also very clear that JDIII rotates in for Parker or S K. Sure, if they want both JJ and Rubles in the game, then Rubles maybe subs for S K. But I don't think you'll see the three amigos (S K, Wright, Parker) not in together for most challenging tight games.

I've seen way more out of JDIII than I have Thomas, or even Sanders at this point.

I think Mick wants Sanders to be S K's backup, but he isn't doing much right now.

I agree about Shaq not playing this year, but I think he will be an excellent player next year. Games like tonight and the one we just played are the games that will help these young guards out the most. Players like Shaq just need time to adjust and, in shaq's case, put on weight. If he adds 15-20 more pounds, he will be physically ready. Playing in games will only help him. His skill set is one of the best on the team, he can get to the rim and finish. He is one of those natural scorers, just needs 1 more year.

Watching Obekpa dominate right now-9 minutes in, and he has a dunk and 4 blocks. Damn, would've been nice to have him. Oh well, just gotta spank them this year to show him he made the wrong choice.
