I didn't say he did, I said that he was fairly well known in coaching circles, and that he had chose to stay in the HS ranks for longer than he needed to. And fwiw, Bob is the one that helped get him that job at Northeastern.

I'm not missing any point, as I actually agreed with you. I even said that I thought what helped Cronin the most was not one particular coaches name, but to have both of them listed on his resume. My point was, no matter how much we all debate how they got there, the fact remains that Huggs has mentored 3 major conference college head coaches.

Pitino has quite a few more assistants as head coaches. And many of them have had a lot of success. I would say you are clearly wrong about the bolded.

I sure can. As I clearly stated in the post, "while working under Huggins". Frank Martin and AK were not working under Huggins when they were hired. I guess you could argue that Martin was. Even so, it should have been fairly obvious that my point was that assistants under Huggins were not getting opportunities while under Huggins. Plus, Martin and Kennedy were after Cronin leaving anyway.

You have no idea if Martin was going to get a head coaching job while under Huggins. There is very little evidence to support such a thing happening. Who are the coaches that got a head coaching job while working under Huggins?

What are you even arguing about. It's like you've started your own argument and went on your own tangent. Since when were we arguing about whether there are current head coaches that was at one point was an assistant under Huggins? The whole argument was about Mick leaving. Read the thread and then get a clue.

Gonna have to agree with Long Haul here. His point is that ADs wouldn't give Huggins' assistants looks (no matter how good or qualified they were) unless they were forced to. It was obvious that Mick had to get experience under another coach to get a serious look at a D-1 head coaching job. So he left.

Either way, you guys are disagreeing on semantics. Mick left to gain experience and get his shot, and neither of you blame him for it. Isn't that the gist of each of your points?

As BearcatJeff has mentioned in an earlier thread, it good to have someone like you on this forum. Why? Because it the politically correct thing to say, of course. It good to have a women on these boards, regardless of how much basketball knowledge they have. Why, if it wasn't for you, germaine topics such as why doesn't Mick recruit white players, or why leaving for Louisville should always be held against him, or why there is a movement to get rid of Mike Thomas and Mick Cronin would never have been discussed here. All these topics were presented to this community by you for further discussion. There's an element of the cincinnati.com comments section that you have brought to this site, and we should all be thanking you for it. As we all know, that is the best site for any UC fan to visit and post under. Your 'why does Mick Cronin not recruit white players' was taken directly from a poster there. So if anyone has called you a hater, ignorant, stupid, or racist, my sincerest apoligies. Just one last thing. When Ralph accused you of posting (after the SJU game) on cincinnati.com comments section that you had given up your fandome, and were done being a UC fan, was this true? If it is, I guess I should rescind the apology for anyone calling you stupid.

While others post their respectful disagreements, you make certain that a good old fashion character assassination accompanies them. Being a fans outside of the "blindspot", my wife and I see things as they are and she simply brings that honest insight to the table in my view. A question was asked, an opinion was offerred. You can agree or disagree. My wife's opinion differs from most but that is what a forum is all about isn't it? I agree that this is a very superior site when compared to others, most notibly BCN, but arrogant little snots like yourself do little to give it justice at times. Rick Pitino is the only coach to take 3 programs to the final four and he has won a national championship. I'd say that's a good guy to be around, as was Bob Huggins. Mick has got to see two HoF coaches up close and learn from them.

Mick was already a really good recruiter before he went to UofL. Notice the drop off in UC's talent level after he was gone.

Well, considering your post was yet another pissing contest with anbuc, there was no real rebuttal to be had. No offense, but it be great if you did all of us a favor and took that stuff to pm. It makes my head hurt even trying to skim over it, **** is ridiculous. And for whatever it may be worth, I blame anbuc equally, if not more. JP's posts, while seemingly not always the most popular, seem ok to me. But all this other stuff is a joke. I think we all get none of you like eachother, and don't agree, so I'm not sure why anbuc felt the need to rip your wife over the same tired argument for 100th time, and I'm not sure why you're taking such offense to cincinnati insanity quoting you, and weighing in.

Different situation here. Wife turned me into a fan years ago. While basketball is not my 1st love, I enjoy listening to my wife scream at the television with each and every point scored by the Bearcats. Makes for a peaceful night. She is definitely passionate about her Cats.

I have made attempts discussing this with him via PM. He choses to discuss this in open forums so I oblige. And out of curiousity, why is it that when he assaults posters, nothing is said? Yet when a defense is made, people start getting involved? Seems odd to me. And you are reading the same "crap" because one continues to make things personal. I made an agreement with the mods to ignore the gentleman's post some time ago. Which I did. I was given the understanding the said belligerent was given the same instructions. If any conflicts have arisen, it is of his doing, not mine. If he wants to make it personal, which he has, he should expect a response. And a response is what he will get.

Let me preface this by clearly stating that I have no dog in this fight. However, don't you think that your responses feed into this? The said belligerent as you call him doesn't exactly scream of civility does it?

In reference to the bolded part above....anbuc88 has a solid reputation both here and at BCN. His posts can sometimes get personal during the back and forth but, for the most part, he keeps it on point and wants to debate the issue about UC basketball.

And, IMO, JP is absolutely a willing participant in the back and forth. I credit her for coming on here and stating her opinion knowing that it might be a minority one. I have gone back and forth with her at times and find her to be knowledgeable and passionate about UC hoops. My only issue with her is her sticking point about Cronin going to UL. But I hope she and you continue to post here as I think you both add to the discussion. However, to come here and act is if she is an innocent victim at the hands of the savage anbuc is baseless at best and probably more absurd than anything else.

I allow some back and forth but there are some "couples" i.e. LL/Ralph and JP/Anbuc that really cross the line. We do pm people when they get out of line and ban people as well. The defensive responses bother me more because you could ignore the other poster and not escalate things. Somebody needs to be the bigger, better person. Otherwise we have no choice but to reprimand both. Also, I'm harder on people that continually look back and base all their takes on what was. Simply feel it is way past time to move on and that there are plenty of good things happening in the present we can focus on.
