Has coaching become secondary?

Your drunk. Kansas was not the only team who backed of Lance. Maryland also tried to throw lance under the bus. UC had zero shot at Lance until late in the recruiting season. If I recall a yahoo article stating "lance running out of options with teams backing off."

I think all that BS that people found on lance was a load of crap, he has been nothing but a great student athlete for UC. Im extremely glad we picked up him, congrats on Mick. But Lance fell into our hands, to think otherwise is absurd.

I would not say he fell into UC's hands, he certainly had other options, his friendship with Sean Kilpatrick may have had something to do with it. Huggins paid Delonte Hill $400,000 to bring Mike Beasley to K-State. I wonder if Beasley got any of the 400K?

This has nothing to do with anything... shits weak ralphy.

And yes outside of maryland, florida international, memphis... Lance was running out of options. Get real people.

Just because a free rivals search shows them as only offering doesnt mean anything. Ha please.

I'm interested to know how you and NOT GUILTY each have the inside scoop on who offered Lance. Is this just opinion or do you have any facts to back this up?

Our coach said as much. As did Mike DeCourcy.

That left several other schools recruiting Stephenson, including St. John's and Maryland. Florida also recruited Stephenson and, a source said, still was pursuing him as recently as this weekend.

In radio interviews both Mike and Mick commented on how busy Lance's phone was while he was on campus this summer. So either they are both liars, or a lot of schools were trying to keep it quiet while they were recruiting Lance.

Hell, even a source close to the UC program denied recruiting Lance last spring to Adam Zagoria. Looking back now, we all know that is false as Mick has said that they recruited him hard once Kansas initially backed off. Basically, we weren't lucky to get Lance. Our staff worked their ass off to get him and made him feel really comfortable in Cincinnati. They deserve credit for it as he is now a cornerstone of our team, not ridicule from our own fan base that suggests we got lucky.

Lucky...

Mick said other schools where all over him. The same mick who said lance is a number 1 pick in the nba, and the greatest talent at UC, since the big O?

Sorry, ill take MULTIPLE articles written about Lances lack of options, rivals listed scholarships over a bunch of clowns who dont know anything. UC lucked into being an option for lance. That option was pursued by UC staff. Now stop being clowns and thinking otherwise.

Then Mick Cronin out smarted every coach in America by taking a chance that has worked out.

Every team in America would love to have lance. He is a mature and skilled player that needs to improve in some areas.

absolutely, mick was thrown a good card and played it...

Lance is a great talent, and all has caused zero problems thus far. Brilliant "chance" mick took.

Whatever, it is pointless to debate this with you. You are not only calling our coach a liar, you are also calling Mike DeCourcy a liar.

Basically, you are trying to take credit away from our coaching staff. Shocking...

There is NO debate. Do some freaking research, you have no clue what your posting. Your just throwing random garbage into a "debate". Get real.

"Lincoln HS basketball star Lance Stephenson is slowly running out of options. Maryland is no longer recruiting the Coney Island standout, a source close to Terrapins coach Gary Williams has confirmed. Lincoln HS coach Dwayne Morton says "Memphis has been calling" and remains interested. Arizona and playing in Europe also remain options."

"Looks like Memphis is the only other rumored school, and Lance has supposedly not responded well to that option. There's semi-pro leagues in the states, aren't there?"

"In one of the more ironic recruitments in recent history, top-10 prospect Lance Stephenson's school list is shrinking. And it is not because Stephenson is cutting schools off his list. Rather, it is the schools that are eliminating Stephenson as a recruit." ~ Rivals.

"Lance still without a school...St. John's, who would seem desperate for a New York-based savior, withdrew its interest. As of today, Florida International's Isiah Thomas has dropped the issue. The only coach still actively recruiting Stephenson appears to be Memphis's Josh Pastner"

Adam Zagoria reported this on April 17th:

Despite rumors that Lance Stephenson has reached out to Cincinnati and Rutgers, both schools emphatically deny that that is the case.

“We haven’t talked to Lance,” said a source within the Cincinnati program. “I don’t know how that got put out there. We’ve never talked to Lance or his dad.”

Sources at Rutgers said the same thing.

Do you believe that too?

I took 5 minutes and found article after article from high end sources, yahoo, rivals, zags, NY daily... O, not to mention direct quotes from lance talking about "Europe" and "pro teams in the states". Put your ego aside and finally admit your wrong.

Answer the question. Do you believe Zagoria's Cincinnati sources?

In case you were wondering, the reason Zagoria reached out to his Cincinnati source was because the_one had stated that there was a very good chance UC was going to land Lance Stephenson. A UC fan (or multiple) asked Zagoria if there were anything to the rumors. Look at the first comment in the article I posted. A guy at least used to post at BCN under that user name.

Schools had 3 reasons to publicly deny recruiting Lance:

1.) He had a pending legal charge and if something bad came of it, they wouldn't want to look bad too.

2.) They didn't want to look bad if he didn't choose them.

3.) He had already told a school no and they wanted to look like a coach who had withdrawn interest in another job when in reality that position had been denied to him.

And in UC's case, its become really clear that our staff likes to be really quiet when they recruit Lance. CLEARLY, the source close to our progoram lied in early April. We were obviously recruiting Lance, just like other programs lied as well. That is how the recruiting process works.

You can't speak logic to the deaf.
