he certainly has struggled offensively that is for sure. Thought he played well tonight though. Between him,Shaq and Cobb all three are very lose with the ball. Factor in our Biggs being tour over prone and it is not a pretty picture. If the ball is not in Troy's hands I'm nervous.

Cobb had some tonight but he's not even close to KJ and Thomas overall...and lately KJ has been downright atrocious

Am I posting something against the rules. If not why don't you stop. I'll tell you what go take a vote with the other moderators. Explained!! You make comments and like everyone are know expert. You don't explain anything to me. You can debate but explain. Laughable.

I don't even know what this means. People have explained to you what they mean when they say Jenifer should play around 10 minutes per game on several occasions, but you refuse to hear it and then make comments about Jenifer "not getting his 10 minutes". Whether it's intentional, or you just don't understand the point, you are continuing to misrepresent the point that several people are making. I'm asking you to stop doing that. I doubt you would appreciate someone doing that to you.

That's the problem. ..he's had 13 turnovers in his last 5 games. He can make 3s but his % isn't great. Not sure his D makes up for what he lacks on the other end

He's only played 34 minutes last 2 games...I'd like for it to stay that way.

The team has to stop this sleep walking through the first 5 minutes. And it has nothing to do with tempo, it has everything to do with being ready to play when the ball tips. I don't know if it will take a change in starting lineup or what, but coming out all flat and getting down double digits right off the bat is embarrassing.

I did like how once we settled in we actually had movement on offense. There was spacing, there were picks being made off the ball. We isolated Evans multiple times and let him work. This kind of thing must continue.

Agreed.

Where are all the people that like to use the cheesie cliche of "it's not how you start but how you finish". Hopefully they have realized now over the past two year that how you start is critical. UC for the past couple years have been slow out of the gate. This to me is on Cronin. Time to change the lineup. Bring Shaq off the bench and start Evans. He is simply better in every aspect of the game than Shaq.

This team and coach is unbelievably frustrating. Right now everyone with the exception of Evans is playing below their potential. Ellis has been a complete disappointment this season. As has Clark and DeBerry. I really expected better out of DeBerry but somehow his finishing has gone south. Ellis has become soft and Clark is non-existent for 75% of games.

And for coaching, what was that out of a TO to try to tie/win the game? Troy could have done that w/o having a TO and the defense not being set. Why call a TO for that? Interesting Mick has chosen to call a TO on offense but not defense. I would lean the other way. And why wait until the 8 minute mark to play JJ for the first time? He put in JJ, KJ, DeBerry, and Evans in at the same time. What on earth was he thinking.

Though I'd like to argue that JJ should get more minutes, once again, he comes in and does terrible. Gives up two 3 pointers and takes a horrible 3 himself. Why doesn't Mick get it through to him that his role as a freshman is to facilitate the offense and not to be the offense?

Sorry for the long post but it's so frustrating. I know they only have 3 losses and all are to top 10 teams, but they should be better than this and the season has the looks of another very disappointing season.

Tight games going forward my minutes. ..

Caupain...35
Evans...32.5
Clark...30
Ellis...27.5
Cobb...27.5
Deberry...17.5
Thomas...17.5
KJ...17.5

I know that's 200 but Jenifer and Moore can work in there for 5 minutes somewhere.

I'm good with that.

I was talking specifically about the beginning of the games. And more specifically, the big games. The beginning tonight where we went down 14-2. The beginning where Xavier went up 10-1. We get out of the gate slow. All the time in these games. Turnovers always seem to be a problem in the halfcourt...so why insist on being so slow and deliberate the first 10 minutes of every big game? How can we expect to not dig a hole? How can we reasonably expect to ever be the ones up 14-2 or 10-1? We complain about our own transition defense, but never make the opponent play transition defense until the 2nd half when we're down by double digits. Sleepy starts filled with turnovers are a chronic problem. Doing the same thing and hoping for better results does nothing to fix the problem.
jacob we came back because we ran offense and got to the foul line in half court not by pushing the ball. We isolated Evans and him and Troy got to the rim or created some good looks for others. Look as stated I love uptempo but that is not what is holding us back. With Shaq on the floor the opposition doesn't have to guard him. That defender can double are Biggs and it usually results in a TO. If you want to eliminate back starts put Evans in the game from the behgining and sub Shaq at the 3 and 4 when needed. That will open the lane for our post players and create more driving lanes. I do not know what Mick is thinking.

Actually his last 6 games because he had 0 in his last game...but 13 turnovers in 108 minutes equals about 5 turnovers per 40 minutes played. Just horrible when you aren't getting a lot of assists or points to make up for it

Agree very much about Evans. I think the whole team will benefit with him on the floor. Creates much better spacing. He is getting the minutes anyway. Start him.

KJ can occasionally hit the open 3 but that's about it. His ball handling and passing aren't good enough to warrant solid minutes on a good D1 team. Be different if he was a 6'6" wing, but he is a 6'3" SG.

I've noticed Cobb struggles under pressure and tends to make very poor decisions when the game is tense. Not sure why but when the crowd really gets into it he seems to make some head scratching decisions.

Your missing my point. Saying someone should get so many minutes a game without knowing how the game is going or what the situations our is not that hard to understand. If you don't want me to respond to you post I will not but your statement is wrong. Here is a thought it may be you who doesn't understand. I'm asking you to stop.

We struggle early in the game because we try to run the offense through Ellis. Once we get into the flow we start playing much better...

I was shocked that we weren't going with high ball screens for Caupain early. I agree that establishing Ellis is the post is wasted effort.

I understand what you're saying just fine. You just keep going back to saying the minutes can't be predetermined...a point that no one is arguing.

If Jenifer got 2 minutes tonight, great. That's fine. I don't care. I just hope that means he gets more in a game against UCF, USF, ECU, Tulane, etc. Then after the next 18 games, it spits out that he averaged about 10 minutes per game.

I know Mick says it doesn't matter who starts, but the starters going down big certainly matters. Evans is a stud, I think he deserves to start.

I agree now 100%. The same thing happened when we started playing troy and Cobb together at the end of the season last year. We looked better. We were offsetting their minutes for much of the year.

When you put your best 5 players on the court together at the same time...the D has to figure out who to focus on. The more you have to focus on at one time the harder it is on the D. Simple. The 6th man phenomenon is only good when your 6th guy is as good as your 5th man

X won. Just thought I would send everyone to bed with some bad news.

Not enjoying our mediocrity

Trying to establish the inside game is not a bad they no but when Shaq.s defender drops down to help and the opposition doesn't have to concern themselves with defending him on perimeter it leaves little room to operate. I have also not seen Elllis represent a good passing big man. He's flashed but nothing consistent. His travel call with virtually no one near him on a very crucial possession was a killer. It's also been a norm
