Help Support BearcatTalk:

Reading Iowa States forum is the strangest thing I've experienced. You would think they're 0-8 from the way they talk. That's what Bearcat D does though. Frustrates teams and fans to no end.

Just went through their post game forum. Sounds like the sky is falling lol.

We also doubled their to's.

So let's see. We double their to's, shoot 15 percent from 3, our 3 best players are held way under average, on the road in one of the most hostile environments, against a quality veteran team, and we win?

30 rebounds from 3 players were the difference imo. Clark is player of the game for absolutely sure!

not to mention clark ankle and washington and evans were clearly limping washington most of the second half and we still found a way to win

Still can't believe we didn't go 2 for 1 down 1.
Jacob we really don't have a player outside of Evans that can take a guy off the dribble in that situation and he seems reluctant to do it. The pnly guard who went to the hoop last night was the guy most want benched and that is KJ. If Evans would be a bit more aggressive TC wouldn't end up with the ball in his hands with 2 seconds on the shot clock and have to heave a difficult shot.

Another good thing about the win was it really looked as if Clark had woke up and wanted the ball on occasion. He actually shot a wide open 3. He made that shot last year and while I don't want him firing to many he can make it and should take it if wide open. It would lead to better shoots and we wouldn't be throwing up heaves As the shot clock runs down.

Great game and effort but I look for our offensive efficiency to be much better as the year goes on.

Clark is not Scott:::)

I kid, Scott while seeing limited time played well.

JJ played well in his short time as well. Both helped change the pace.

Washington got two passes from Clark for a dunk and an and-one in the second half
They were not going to let our bigs beat them. They played 4 guards they knew we would go inside it was to our advantage. They doubled who ever had the ball in the post the whole game. A bright spot offensively this year is the passing in the post by Washington and Clark we need more of it.

Well now the Butler game isn't as much of a must win. Playing with house money at Hinkle next Saturday.

Disagree with that mindset. Do you want to be on the fringe of the Top 25, or do you want to be soundly in it around 15? We can win at Butler. These games will determine if we're showing up on the bubble in February, or if we're getting a 4 or 5 seed.

This team needs to get it down low on every possession and set a lot of picks for Evans. Our bigs can pass the ball very well when they get doubled. We aren't a very good shooting team from 3...but we are very good at making 2s. Gary had the lowest attempts for the starters but good things happen when he's assertive. Getting the ball down low will take so much pressure off Troy and KJ.

Thankful we had Gary last night. I know we were optimistic if we were going to go without him, but wow he was so important.

Agreed. They need to get touches every possession.

We were so gassed in the second half but this team showed the desire to keep playing awesome D and continued to rebound.

Rebounding was fantastic, especially with the way the previous games had been. Gritty effort by Gary. Wasn't pretty, but it's a solid win on the resume.

I don't know if anyone realizes how incredible our defense played last night. That team was averaging almost 90 a game. They were at home. Their PG averages 6.5 assist a game and he had 5. The entire team had 7. Think back and recall how many open looks they had. I can count on one hand. How many run outs. Very few. This was a team that liked to get up and down the floor. we didn't just play good defense we played freaking great defense. We also hit some very clutch shots. Gary's in regulation, Evans 2 FT's and every time it looked like the game may get away KJ came through with a hoop to stop a run.

I disagree about his being reluctant to do it. Look at the last possession of OT when he got fouled and sank the two free throws. He baited that guy into the foul by dancing around the perimeter and using his ball handling. Evans was not looking to take a shot there. He was either getting fouled or going to the hole. It's not possible to do that every possession but I would like to see Jacob do it more. I think at money time, he puts his head down and drives quite a bit. I would like to see him start games that way and really put defenders on skates. This is nit picking a guy averaging 17 ppg but I think Jacob could be a 20 ppg guy THIS year. He will be next year.

Trying to figure out what is going on with Troy? Some of his shots weren't even close. I know he's not a sharp shooter but he's not THAT bad! I think he's pressing and thinking too much. He needs to let the game come to him and play within his ability.

He needs to do more of it. I don't want the ball in TC's hands with the shot clock running down. I agree Evans is doing very well. I want him to be a bit more assertive. Not just him but Clark as well. If he gets a wide open look on the perimeter he can't pass it back to TC with 5 seconds on the clock. Shoot the ball.

WH go back and re-watch the game and look at how many possesions ended with TC have to hoist up a shot. Creating off the dribble is not his strength. We have been trying to force that roll on him for 2 ears now. When others are open they need to shoot the ball. Clark finally took a 3 last night. he didn't make it but he has shown he can knock it down and needs to take it when its open. I' m not saying he should hoist it up with 25 seconds still on the shot clock but you have to be aware of the shot clock and what is a makeable shot. Hopefully this will come as the season goes on.

He didn't play well at all. However I agree that it looks worse that it probably was when he's the one shooting the late clock shots. UC has to feed the post better.

I disagree. He wasn't great but like most good players he didn't let a bad shooting night affect the rest of his game. Ten rebounds for a point guard, all defensive I think, went a long way to keep ISU getting offensive rebounds, which was an integral part of why they won. I know you'll disagree, because that's what you do, but he wasn't that bad overall.

I agree he's not the guy we need with the ball in his hands with 5 seconds left. Evans is that guy. And for god sakes...if you have the ball with 8 seconds... don't stand there and let it dwindle to 4 before you make a move.

With 8 seconds left you can make a move and still have time to kick it out if it doesn't work. With 4 seconds you basically become the only option.
