The rebounding was amazing last night! The entire first half, Iowa St, with their players crashing the boards, had 0 offensive rebounds! Crazy! The offensive rebounding is what kept them in the game in the first half and, of course, defense travels.

Definitely helped that Iowa State tried so hard to spread us out. They ran some sets with a guy in each corner and have no post game at all.

Another reason why taking 8+ seconds to get the ball up the floor hurts us. We seriously have 18 seconds to get anything done by the time the first pass is made.

Even though we played slow last night, I didn't think that was the case. Troy did sometimes walk up the floor to help everyone catch their breath (which I thought was necessary, given how winded everyone was), but he generally got bast half court at around 26 or 25 left on the clock. That's plenty of time to get open looks.

WH there is a certain continuity to running a offense. Plus it requires confidence and skills that are different then playing defense.

When you mention we need to take open shots it sounds so easy. When I mention it things sound a lot more complicated...lol!

After Lipscomb coach mentioned Tre did a great job of getting in there and setting picks to get guys open. Was the best the offense worked all season in the second half. Somehow a freshman figured out the vast complexity of pick setting.

I think you are making excuses. I just want the offense to work better and i don't think some of these things are complicated at all. Certainly not as complicated as his defensive scheme.

26 or 25? That happened a few times. More often than not the clock was under 20 by the time we even made a pass.

I get why we played slower. It just shouldn't be a surprise that we aren't getting consistent looks. I do agree that we did pass up on some though.

I said it last season that he needed to tweak his form. I also wonder why he needs to lead the team in the bench press. His shooting has been bad for a long time now. Doubt it improves much.

It has been bad but he has shot over 40 percent in one year. This is why I think there is something mental going on. He's a career 34 percent shooter...not 24 percent

His first couple years he only shot open step-in 3s. He has a completely different shot on anything else. And we've seen that as he's become a volume shooter.

Take out the year he shot 40 percent. He shot 33 and 32 the other two years. He's 10 points below that right now. He had to take late shot clocks last year too. I expect it will improve...but it's time to figure out what is going on. I think he's pressing in his last year. He's not going to the NBA but he can play professional. Right now the team needs him to do his part for a great season.

His only volume year he shot 32 percent. I think he got off to a bad start too. I agree his volume needs to go down with other options on the court that are better... probably at least 3 of them.

I think he'll obviously raise his % some. But FG% in the 30s and 3pt % high 20s/low 30s isn't what we were looking for this year.

Why would I need to make excuses. I want the offense to perform better as well. I do think it is tougher to learn and execute offense then defense.

Waite, someone pointed out that they scored 130 on Citadel and only averaged 73 otherwise (even less now).

They averaged 89 before this game. Two games well over 100. They have that potential which could come in handy if they get hot in March. Obviously they are streaky.

Learning and executing a complicated offense may be tough. Taking open shots, setting picks, and being aggressive when you have the ball are not complicated.

i think he will improve if he don't have to jack up shots with the clock about to go off. Otherwise I don't think you will see much improvement

By the way jake and WH I'm telling my wife it was your fault I didn't get the plant beds raked out today.
