If Gaines is close to graduating, he can go play immediately somewhere else. Go back to the state of Florida, or go across the river to NKU. And in all honesty, Sanders is not a high major player. He should go to the likes of Manhattan, Iona, something closer to NYC. Thought he would be similar to Bishop, not even close though. Shaq is the answer at the 3. Big Dave can develop. He has way more potential than Gaines. He single handily won us the game at Pitt. Give him another year in the weight room, you may get twenty productive minutes a game out of him.

I don't think Gaines will ever be the star I envisioned. But lets be realistic-I should've realized, he only averaged 10 ppg in HS. He never will develop into a big time scorer, but I could see him being as good as Cheikh. If he can be that good, if David can buff up a bit and gain more stamina, I like our bigs, especially with Stricklands low post game. Sanders is much better than you state, he has shown flashes of being a Rashad Bishop type player. I think he will gain more consistency with more consistent playing time. Guyn is okay, but I will be curious to see where JD3 is at. I think he could be the starter, with Caupain and Guyn sharing backup duties. Lawrence is a monster, he will make an immediate impact.

Who leaves then from the current roster if SK returns?

I see Sanders as the odd man out. I don't think Mick will run anyone off. But I see someone playing PG, S K playing SG, Thomas playing SF, and possibly Lawrence playing PF, but more like a SF. And then a true low post player. I don't ever see Sanders getting alot of minutes. And frankly, I'm not that impressed with him.

I'd be happy seeing alot of new blood on the floor next season.

I mean honestly, Rubles, Thomas and Lawrence will all be ahead of Sanders.

Nyarsuk only has one more year. I let him have it and hope he hits the weight room.

Gaines? I'm fine either way. I think he could definitely give you the same a Mbodj did. But I don't see much offense.

Sanders isn't even close to Bishop. Bishops ball skills were much better and his D was excellent. Sanders isn't even close. Gaines has 2 years of eligibility left. He isn't Modj and in my opinion never will be. His FT shooting is terrible and his hands are nowhere near Modj.

Either Morman doesn't qualify or Guyn leaves. We have plenty of guards, I would be happy with JD3 starting, Caupain/KJ backing him up and having KJ/Morman back up SK. I would say Gaines, because I like Guyn more, but we need the big body. Again, I still think Gaines could be decent, but Guyn showed some improvement this year. Tough call........

Gaines isn't even close to Modj level. Sanders is a NYC kid. He isn't being asked to leave. Mick wants to keep that pipeline going. His skills near work but Gaines isn't even close to his level.

Sanders can score and our team cannot. He showed flashes of being the reliable 4th scorer we needed. When he gets hot, he is a good shooter, but as Mick said, he played timid at times because he didn't want to take shots from SK. He could be a great combo with Shaq at the 3, because he can shoot and Shaq can drive. It is too bad Guyn isn't bigger, because I think he would be a good SG. He makes too many dumb mistakes to be a starting point guard. Caupain and KJ could fill the void of losing him, IMO.

As the only PG with playing time Guyn isn't leaving.JD3 starting where? Mick played Guyn at PG their freshman year because Guyn was the better PG. we need a big body that can play. Gaines can't and never will at this level. The 5 minutes will go to Jackson.Strickland and Narsuk.

Gaines has gotten better, he was the only big on our team this year that knew how to set a legal screen. Offensively, he won't do much, but he could be a solid backup, which in a perfect situation, Cheikh would've been.

That is what confused me about your Bishop comparison. If you can't guard you can't play for Mick. He made a few 3's but missed a bunch as well. The others may take Guyns place but not until they prove it. Also Sanders has never showed he was reliable.

JD3 will be the point guard. I like him better than Guyn. Guyn might have more potential, but JD3 doesn't make the dumb mistakes. I wouldn't mind Gaines leaving, either, but the smarter move would be asking Guyn to go. I would love to see Gaines leave and have us run 4 guard up-tempo offense, but I have come to the realization that it cannot be effective with Micks coaching style.

yes, Gaines has worked his way up to being bad. He can't catch a cold and the only thing he'll hit from the free throw line is the floor. He is useless on this team. With Narsuk,Jackson and Strickland he will be no help .time to realize he was a waste of time.

I don't think it is necessarily that he can't guard, but rather, that he was still adjusting to the speed of the game. It took Bishop a little while to adjust also, I think Sanders isn't finished developing.

nonsense, about micks style. Mick plays
To his personnel. A beer says JDIii doesn't play the point. He hasn't since he's been here. Another beer says Guyn Is here next year.

Dream scenario-Gaines and Guyn leave, Morman qualifies, and we get Jaren Sina.

Bishop was a good defender from day 1. Yes the speed of the game hurts sanders because he is God awful slow. Don't know how many back cuts he got beat on but I'll bet he led the team.
