What is everyone's opinion on Steve Forbes (ETSU) and Chris Jans (NMS)?

Jans record is impressive. But he took over a program that was already rolling. Hard to say after two years how much of that is his doing and how much the guys before him. Would like to see him sustain the success for another year or two. I wouldn't hate him, but I don't see anything that really separates him from the mid-major pack. - Besides his conduct at Bowling Green, which isn't a positive.

Pretty much the same thing for Forbes. He took over a slightly above average for their conference program (though they had just moved conferences) and made them into a upper tier team in their conference.

Are there any high major coaches that are at non traditional basketball schools that we could consider? Richard Pitino, Ed Cooley, Steve Prohm, Bobby Hurley, Shaka Smart, Scott Drew are some names that I would think could be interested in coming to a program with our tradition, facilities, and relative low pressure job.

Smart top 3 recruiter in country. We can't afford him

I can't remember a time in my sports fan life where I have been so emotional about anything. Not crying lol but just different emotions running through my head.

Natural feeling when we haven't had more than 2 coaches in 30 years. I don't count the 1 year with Kennedy. We are in a situation we are not used to being in. Change can be scary but I truly do believe UC will be just fine. I wish Mick nothing but the best. $24 mil is a lot to walk away from regardless of how loyal you are to a school.

Mentions having to call the two recruits UCLA has in the class, maybe he was careful with his words about Curtis, but worth noting.

Hopefully L.A. likes Mick's plaid sportcoats with a striped tie etc, his classic West Side Cincy fashion duds, and his cornpone speaking style. Can you see him sashaying the UCLA court in his new Beverly Hills Armani wardrobe lol? Just joking on Mick a little; he was always fun. But he's more like Beverly Hillbillies to be frank. It will be interesting to watch. He will improve their program though. That should be an relatively simple task from where they are. He'll have his usual hard nosed teams. But he's just been a miserable NCAA tourney coach year after year. Definitely can't get his guys right for those moments. Just go back a year to the ultimate 2'nd half collapse in Tourney history against Nevada. ugh. Happy for him though that he arranged a great position and opportunity for himself. John Wooden to Mick Cronin....that's kind of mind boggling.

Well that was sobering to say the least. Some points:

1. Discussed how it wasn't hard to chose to take UCLA job
2. Confident he can bring in the best players
3. Highlighted connections he has on the west coast
4. Lobbied for Savino to get the HC job here
5. Said Savino will be on his staff if he doesn't get a HC job
6. Mentioned the importance of the charter plane
7. Discussed his basketball philosophy
8. Hopes all UCLA players stay as well as the incoming recruits
9. Threw a little shade at UC when it came to pay big time assistants
10. Said he cried almost all day yesterday as did his players when he told them the news

UCLA fans are coming away very impressed with him. Lots are saying his press conference was a 100% home run

he's very good at saying the right things in press conferences. this is like when he nailed the one after the brawl. that one inspired the fanbase, this one appears to have done the same.

Like I've told others, I have this feeling he is going to be very successful there. I think he is going to show how well he can recruit with the resources he will have at UCLA. Hot take: the first recruit he will sign will be Cassius Stanley, who is waiting on his phone call.
