Jesus Christ. If it's that bad, find the nearest bridge, and well, ya know. No one, and I mean no one, likes someone who is negative 1,000% of the time.

get over yourself - it's a comment about the flimsiness of immediate decision making in the aftermath of a stressful event.

lance is coming back too.

"Get over yourself"

I'm sorry I didn't realize I was talking to recent high school graduate girl about UC basketball.

Here's one, grow up. This board is filled with "fans" like yourself, ya know, the "whoa is me" pessimistic crowd. It's annoying and quite frankly, true fans like myself, wish the pessimistic crowd go crawl back in a hole. Add something useful to the conversation or don't quote my comments.

Samari Curtis to report to UC in June and wasn't shocked Cronin left and understands it's a business. According to Xenia coach Kent Anderson

So while this doesn't mean its a done deal, this is encouraging first reaction. Saw that Mick expected to call him today...sure hope Samari is more Bearcat than Mick's guy.

Lots can change, but it's smart for Samari to stay committed and wait to see who next coach is. Really nervous about Samari, LoJo, and to a lesser degree Cumberland.

I think Cumberland stick around. The other 2 I would have bet would decommit and transfer, respectively. So I hope we keep both, but even 1 would be terrific.

Also Van Exel has openly expressed interest in the UC HC position

for the people that want Brannen they should really check out Casey Alexander. He would be the better candidate of the 2. Alexander pulled in multiple top 100 wins this year at Lipscomb, I dont think Brannen has any in the past 2 years at nku.
I agree. I'd prefer a mid-major coach with sustained success over a Van Exel type. Some others I would consider:

Russ Turner (UC Irvine)
Steve Forbes (E Tenn St)
Bob Richey (Furman)
John Becker (Vermont)
Scott Nagy (Wright St, previously S Dakota St)
Mark Schmidt (St Bonaventure)

A UCLA fan asked what to expect with Cronin...this was the response.

"You’ll have potentially the best defense in conference. Probably one of the worst offenses. You’ll get recruits your coach can’t coach. And your offseason begins after the round of 32"

I'll miss Mick, but this made me laugh.

What about Wes Miller (UNCG)?

This reminds me a lot of the Butch Jones departure. We may lose some stability but it’s not earth shattering. You don’t really want the guy to leave but at the same time, is it that terrible? All is good as long as we don’t have Tubberville 2.0.

Mick seriously struggles offensively. This has gotten us burned so many times. His defense has led to success but it under Mick we would never have gotten the right guys to get us over this offensive mountain we have to climb. That’s just reality.

Also, this talk about Nick Van Exel. Can he even be hired? I’m not sure he has a bachelors degree. I read an article about him being in the process of finishing studies at Texas Southern but there’s no mention of him actually graduating.

I fully expect UC to do a "budget hire". Find someone cheap or keep Savino. Something that won't get anyone overly excited.

Always find this funny. People claim to be big UC fans. They get all upset when anyone criticized the coach. Then the coach leaves and they say stuff like this.

Obviously this wasn’t Micks dream job... cause there really aren’t many of those and $ trumps all.

Well I mean have the fan base wanted him out.

I'm not sold on him. He was awful his first four years there, and has been decent in the last few. He's never had a top 100 offense, which I think should turn off a lot of our fans looking for something fresh.

Not really. They wanted some changes...and he seemed incapable of making those changes. He's a solid coach...seemed to have plateaued at UC though.

The Bearcats could be worse off or better off...all depending on this hire. Lots of pressure for sure and change is hard. With Mick we knew what we would have. Now we don't. Might be worse, might be better. Sure hope it's the latter.

Interesting. Will dig more. Thanks for the perspective.

Kind of random but, I’m suprised Cronin left at all but for completely different reasons. I believe he has a daughter and is divorced. Unless he has full custody and the courts allow him to take her across state lines...... Well, that alone surprises me as a reason to leave. Let alone the lawyers who are already filing to up the child/spousal support now that there is more money to go after.

Not attacking Cronin at all, I just think there’s more to these decisions than basketball.
