So because of fear we MAY get worse we should just never try to get better? Real bunch of winners here.

No, it's just time you get realistic. I don't wanna see 5 years of rebuilding cuz I don't think whichever realistic candidate they bring in is going to suddenly vault UC into yearly final 4 contention.

Why hold this year’s team accountable for last year’s result? They simply didn’t have the talent this year to make a run. Let’s be real, in October if we said hey we made the tournament as a 7 seed our reaction would be “excellent year.” What changed? We simply didn’t have the horses this season.

They had the talent to beat Iowa. The Cats were a higher seed and expected to win.

What he did with this years team was one of the best coaching jobs in the country

People expected UC to be terrible this year preseason. Those expectations changed once the season got underway. They had the best player in the conference on their team. UC wasn't as bad as many people lead us to believe.

What? Yes, they had the talent but it was a 7/10 game, not far from a pick 'em. And if everyone expected UC to be terrible, finishing #2 in the regular season and winning the conference tournament would indeed qualify as a great coaching job. In fact he was frequently recognized throughout the season from the "experts" on the big networks. The loss is disappointing, but trying to diminish this season is a weak move.

Awesome post. Agree.

Throwing broome and jenifer under bus the way he did seemed fishy to me. Now i know. Rumors flying around Mick is done with us and ready move on. This was on radio and Chad basically called it 50/50 mick staying last night. Said now more than ever he thinks mick leaves

What are your sources for Mick leaving and him bashing Broome and Jennifer?

What did he say about JJ and cane?

Bingo. Pretty much what is said here over and over.

Agreed. Although he seems to have two separate countering points in the article. So he's saying Micks system doesn't work to show results in March and he's not willing to do anything different to put in a system that will show results in March.

But then in the same breath says there's no way anyone could ever be better than Mick. If these mid major coaches can get these kids at those schools why could no one else do it here while still getting the Evan's, Cumberlands, Clark's, etc?

I don't necessarily think he believes no one is"better" than Cronin, I just think he believes (like I do) that firing Mick would be a set back to the program. I've already seen that movie, don't wanna see it again. As far as the players he's talking about in the article, they end up at mid majors cuz the big boys won't recruit them. They want athletes and stars...I'll settle for 1 or 2 players that can make a zone pay. Cronin's system is flawed, no doubt, but I don't think it's unfixable.

It's unfixable in the aspect that Cronin appears to truly believe it's not flawed. He's done nothing to show over the past 10 years he's willing to do anything differently.

I mean how many of these "athletes" have ever turned out to be good players? Justin Jackson? Can't really think of anyone else.

We definitely don't get the same "athletes" as the upper elite programs. More raw, with potential. Jackson is a good example, think KW has a chance, and I guess we'll see with LoJo, diarra, etc.

Exactly though, Jackson was 5 years ago. That's not a good return

I hear you. I look at teams like FSU and LSU and get jealous. Freak athletes that can actually play. I'd kill to be a fly on the wall and listen to the AD and Mick's conversation. Like I said I'm cautiously optimistic that something clicks with Mick, but his stubborn ass comments following every early exit leave me questioning. That said, I still wouldn't be on board with a coaching change at this point. I love the high win totals, connference championships, and tournament births. I guess I'll be the a** hole with his fingers crossed that we get luckier come March...for now at least.

If mick left it would be interesting to see where he ended up. Like would anyone take his style of play or has his lack of march success make ADs think twice.

I do not think Cronin should be fired. At least not yet. But i am glad people are at least raising questions now. I hope that causes somewhat of a change, (doubt it will). I would like to see changes in recruiting or philosophy. And get rid of that stupid zone.
