Mick Remaining at Cincinnati

I could have stomached this little charade better if a legit basketball program was after him. But to pull this off with a freaking Mountain West school and swing back in here to declare he is staying put is a classic act of a pathetic person in my opinion and just makes him look weaker than he already looked. As someone else said, an already fractured relationship with the fans just got way worse.

yeah, man. what ever will mick do without the support of 9 people on a message board whom he never had a shot at winning over anyway?

the guy could walk on water and you'd claim it's because he can't swim.

He is not going to divulge his reasons for considering going to another program but thinking reasonably it was more then gaining attention. His father, brother, daughter and many friends reside here. Including this being where he went to school. There were issues I'm sure between him and the administration that at the time he felt were irreconcilable. He was prepared to leave but after all parties coming together he had a change of heart. Next chapter. Those trying to attack his character must never have held a job in their lives. I wish I had a dime for every time I thought to myself I m leaving this piece of shit job and I'll never work for this ******* again. Dusted off the old resume and even interviewed a few times. After a closed door meeting managed to clear the air and come to a understanding about some work related issues and stayed where I was. That's life in the work force.

He said he almost transferred from UC to UNLV in the 90s or sonething to get on the staff, but it fell through. Also vacations there often.

There is one saving grace Waite. When the officer talked me down off that Carew Tower ledge a few hours ago, he mentioned Washington, Caupain , Clark, Cumberland, etc. and it wasn't making a difference. I couldn't take it no more. But as a last resort, he said. "L-T, don't do it. What about Justin Jennifer?" On that note, I stepped down and gave the officer a hug and decided to move forward with optimism. :D

Lmao.

Has anyone considered that he may be betting against UC to win championships?

I just think about how happy I was to hear the news of Cronin back and I couldn't help but wonder how upset L-T and UCBearcats (among others) are for the same reason. So glad I get to be happy today.

I've been passing out popcorn and plain soft pretzels to anyone who wants something to soak up the salt with. Care for any?

I have pretty mixed feelings about it all. I'm happy for the players that they don't have to make serious life changes. I'm happy we don't have to potentially start over. The thought of a coaching search made me nervous but would've been kind of fun. And I'm not thrilled with the way Cronin handled this.

I am disappointed in myself. 3 or 4 threads on Cronin over a whole week and I couldn't t even get myself banned a single time. I'm losing it in my old age.

......and out of all of this me and Waite even bonded again. Who would have thunk it?

Incorrect. Mick confirmed UNLV was not offering more money as did the UNLV AD. He also confirmed this had nothing to do with facilities and he will NOT be getting a new contract.

Well the money part just confirms my statement that everything the last few days has been speculation. And my statement on him and the university being on the same page wasn't about them speeding up the arena or anything. I'm sure everyone sat down and the air was cleared for him to be staying so I think it's fair to speculate that hopefully everyone is on the same page and can focus on what they need to do to build the program. Bottom line is the arena project is a go, couldn't speed it up at this point probably anyway because they would have to already have the construction crews lined up because the original timeline was to have started in march 2016. I never bother with believing speculation. I don't know why he considered leaving and never will, but he's not gone so I'm hoping something good comes from it.

And if he wasn't offered more money then how the hell does UNLV negotiate? Seriously, you want to pry me from my hometown and a job I'm comfortable in you need to sweeten my pot.

Or you have become the equivalent of old man yelling at crowd, drawing only sympathy rather than ire.

Very happy day for the future of the UC basketball program. I know some on this board will not be happy, but let's all come together and root for our Bearcats for the sake of the program and the players.

Just saw the news, busy day today...I am really happy for UC. I am glad Bohn stepped up and it seemed liked Ono was on board from the start. Now to hold true to the promises.

I throw a big ditto at that. I was more afraid of starting over, that why i ******* panicked. Perfect way to sum it up though.

I feel the same way.

For next year, I'm hoping for a better season with the returning and incoming talent. Honestly, I don't expect much better. Regardless of the roster Mick has, they always seem to play hard on defense and lack cohesiveness on offense. We'll get 20-25 wins, top 3 or 4 in the league, 7-10 seed in the tournament, maybe get to the second round or possibly the sweet sixteen. By all accounts that's a good season. I'm just not sure Mick has a great season in him. For soccer fans, it's similar to what's happening to Manchester United, their decent enough to hang around for a top 4 spot but not challenge for the title, but they no longer intimidate and play an inspiring brand of soccer.

Was nothing more than a 3 year old throwing a tantrum in Walmart because his mother said he have to wait to open his toy.

Can't wait to see what big name 3-star players he signs in a week or two.
