Mick Remaining at Cincinnati

If what WCPO reported is the truth then everything Mick said on the radio today (in between referring to himself in the 3rd person a dozen times) was a bold faced lie.

But if a contract was reworked, wont it have to made public at some point?

I'd just like to know what changed.

It absolutely would. So I guess we'll see what changes were made at some point. You'd better believe the Equirer already has their lawyers frothing at the mouth over the comments that UC declined to comment on changes made to Mick's contract.

yep and people have to realize even things like more money for recruiting would have to be re worked in the contract. you can be rest assured the papers and web sites around town have already done a public records request for his new contract

Ok so what im reading is that before Bohn was hired, Mick was promised an upgraded locker room on the 2nd floor of the athletic building. However when Bohn was hired and renovations were talked about, they decided to renovate the exiting locker rooms in the arena when all the other renovations were being done.

So thats why Mick was upset about the locker rooms:He was promised something and then they changed the plan.

"That person wants to remain anonymous because the process is still ongoing, but told FOX19 NOW Sports the original locker room renovation project was agreed upon before Mike Bohn started as athletic director. The plan included an expanded and upgraded locker room on the second floor of the athletic building. However, once Bohn began work towards renovating Fifth Third Arena, they decided it was best to renovate the existing locker room already in place when they renovate the building to lump all of the renovation work into one project."

it sounds like that was just part of it he probably just wanted the arena guaranteed in writing and more money for recruiting and travel. im sure his biggest concern along with the arena and all that was his recruiting budger and all that would have to be re worked in his contract seems like people trying to hard to find dirt

That doesn't make much sense to me if Mick was actually mad about this. What would you rather have, a locker room on the second floor of a building that is a fairly long walk from the arena or a brand new locker room in a brand new arena? I find it hard to believe whoever this source is and that Mick would be upset about this.

Anyone who heard Mick on the radio today heard him clearly state this had nothing to do with facilities. He said the new arena is coming and that when it does he believes we'll have the finest on campus facility in the country hands down.

This is a little OT, but does anyone think Chris Mack will leave X? I know right now there isn't really good opportunities besides Pitt but in the near future? I want him gone but it seems like he is here to stay... I believe someone said he is only make 1.1 mil? You would think that is going to change one way or another.

The locker rooms will get done when the arena gets renovated. Why on God's green earth would UC pay to upgrade locker rooms right now when they're a year away from gutting the arena and completely redoing it? I mean......c'mon man.

Does anyone else find it troubling that Locker Room updates are a concern? We are trying to get into a P5 conference and we simply can't upgrade a locker room or 2? I mean it sounds so Division 3 to me.

I think Mick was at odds with the administration and went out to UNLV as a angry employee. It would have always been tough for him to leave. He always intended to give UC last chance and that's how it worked out. I'm not buying the whole mid life crisis thing but if others see it that way fine. They are not going to air their dirty laundry in public. Again my opinion and I have no inside info. just drawing on my own real life experiences. UNLV was leaking information since They met in Washington.. They have no one to blame but themselves for the egg on their face. They have a dumpster fire of their own. Players are up and arms because they want Stacey Augmon and have made it clear that if he isn't hired they are leaving. Again I have no inside info just giving my opinion. Glad things turned out as they did but like most could have lived without the drama.

Based on the 2nd bolded part, you can kind of just make up whatever you want and pass it off.

Bottom line for me is I only roll with the Bearcats so I HAVE to be down with Cronin now. In my Terrell Owens crying voice........."that's my coach".

much of that has to do with the coach. Our perception was formed awhile ago. When I lived away from Cincy it was all about Huggins. You coulD hear his 4 letter expletives when coaching his players in the cheap seats. It was a running joke how the older fans in the stands would just shutter. When Eric Martin was throw off the bench in the middle of the game was another issue. It also didn't help when video surfaced and reports came out that. he was caught and let go after being falling down drunk behind the wheel. Our graduation rate sucked. We had players carrying guns and torturing other students and quite a few others. It wasn't just about one incident. There were many but we all loved winning and looked the other way. Huggins was colorful. In many ways we earned our reputation. Heck I think it worked to our advantage in so,e circles. I know I bragged how tough our coach was and you didn't mess with the Bearcats. Much younger and dumber in those years I guess. That's one reason I always get tickled when people say Mick is whiney. The conduct of our coach and players is light years better then when BOb was here. We may not be as talented but we definitely are better behaved. For some that matter for others it is a non issue.

One has nothing to do with the other. You're allowed to say everything you said about the Huggins era AND find Cronin's whining to be annoying.

UC is a public Univeristy therefore nothing of substance regarding Mick's contract or any promises of upgrades could be kept secret. If UC agreed to hire Sammy a tutor to help her with her math problems in order to free up Mick for more recruiting there would have to be a public record of it.

What possible closed door deal could they have agreed upon that would have any impact on Mick staying? I'm not sure why it's so hard for people to understand that Mick had personal reasons that lead him to UNLV and in he end he decided to stay. It's a perfectly reasonable explanation.

PS - Mo Egger is a pair of clown shoes

Way more fun to make up an "opinion" to support what you hope happened.

I think I said it was my opinion. What am I passing off. My opinion. You lost me.did you think I had inside info? I said its my opinion. I didn't try to mislead anyone. What is your point? By the way I still think we are being given BS. But again that's my opinion. Here I'll say it again for you its my opinion.

Is that your opinion because I don't find him annoying. I wish he'd win more but that's another subject.

doubt it im sure it has more to do with the arena and recruiting trips and stuff like that where he would be compensated more without it or something like that. everyone saying it wasnt about the money even mike bohn theres no reason to lie about it . i honestly dont see why everyone is so worried about it anyway. if you guys honestly think he did all that to get 100k more a year ur out of your minds it obviously wasnt about his salary. i personally think he did take the unlv job then when he came back here uc wooed him i mean it is what it is hes our coach thats what matters the rest is for the haters to moan about. You guys also got to remember him getting more money for recruiting would also have to be reworked in his contract.

Wooed him how?

And Jake I could give a rats behind if people posting her like my opinion. Actually it's better to have diverse opinions. Be real boring without the banter. All I know is Mock is back and the returning roster will remain intact for another year which is a good thing in my OPINION.
