Just sayin all the apologist throw out the same junk about being a great recruiter, rebuilding a program, beating good programs... yet when you look at what matters he hasnt done squat. I'm prepared at this point to get dominated by uconn, memphis, and possibly temple and smu year in and year out under this leadership.... but hey fourth or fifth isn't last, right?

Just like they were dominated by Pitt, Uconn, Louisville, Marquette, and Georgetown the last two years. Get the #%^& outta here. Just a crazy assertion given the recent history.

Indiana has made back to back Sweet 16's as a 1 and 4 seed, not exactly amazing results. Besides one Dwyane Wade led year, Crean has had no tournament success...

That's why his seat is getting hotter and hotter. You need much better results when you have all those advantages at your disposal.

If you want to talk about recent history last season included losses to louisville, uconn, pitt, and 2 losses to gtown and 2 to notre dame....

just sayin

Also included wins against pitt and uconn. Beat Louisville the year before, gtown twice, and ND. WHAT DOMINATION!!!!!!

You'll see uconn and louisville again this year...then what will you say next year...UH HEY GUYS>>>THREE YEARS AGO WE BEAT LOUISVILLE...

I'm done with this topic...just difference of opinions and time will tell who is right...

I understand the frustration. At this point in the season I think it does our team, who has a lot of games left, a disservice to be harping on this right now. I know many of you or most will be at the games which is good. We have a lot of BB to play so finding SOME way to focus on the positives and less on the negatives is best IMO for the team. If that is defense fine...if that is watching our freshman grow fine.

Can we wait until later in the year or after the season to bash the coach...he isn't going to be fired anytime soon for those who want that to happen now. The coach that is being criticized so much is also the guy who brought our recruits in...or is bringing in. Those players don't need to hear about this kind of stuff right now.

If I say that you can make fun of me then, however, for the time being your original assertion was completely asinine in suggesting we are going to be dominated by SMU and Temple. Just asking for a rational argument based on what recent history has shown. LT and UCbearcats are making the assertion that UC will not get back to where this program was when Huggins was at his peak as long as Mick is running things. They have an argument since Mick has not achieved that as head coach. To say we are going to get dominated by squads that have not been even very relevant when compared to us not getting dominated by some of the best programs in the country is just dramatic and illogical. That is the point I was trying to make.

Wrong again. Chane's mom moved him out of Cincinnati to Bowling Green because he was running with the "wrong crowd". She refused to let him return to Cincinnati for fear that he would renew his old acquaintances. There was nothing Mick could do in this situation to keep Chane coming to UC.

So, she had no faith in Mick being able to give him the discipline he needed?

His name shouldn't have been mentioned in the first place, because the two situations aren't comparable. If Mick had a top 10 budget (IU spent $9,264,091 last year) and outstanding fan support (IU finished 5th in attendance last year-17,412 per game), then I'd absolutely agree that one Sweet 16 wouldn't be enough. Unfortunately, UC athletics don't live in that world. The lack of money is not a death knell, as we saw the program get great results in the early 90's, but it took a HOF level coach to get that much more out of less. Good luck finding another one of those guys though. That doesn't mean that we should just stick with Mick until he decides to retire, but I have a hard time holding him to elite results when nothing about the support of the program (budget/arena/fan support) is elite.

Right now this is a pretty good program, with pretty good support, that is getting pretty good results.

We were in worse shape than that in the 80s. It was done once. It can be done again. To believe anything less is just sad.

Oh Jack I couldn't possibly say that around the house. Him and my youngest daughter are buckeyes and they are completely ate up with it. My oldest is a UD grad. The only one who followed in Dads footsteps was the oldest boy who joined the Marrines. Myself I'm a Rollins college grad. Unfortunately the reds just traded aaway one of our alums, Ryan Hannigan. They fired one as well Jim Bowden. As you can imagine there is plenty of arguements over at our place. lol been a UC fan all my life. Went to Purcell High School which gave us Derrick Dickey. Grew up in Norwood which is not the home of Xavier University no matter what some may think.

Strike two, go Roger Bacon! Just kidding, my whole family went to Purcell, but I am a Baconator!

The reason they play a whole season is things can change...certain players can respond (or not) etc. I remember a few years back most of the fans wrote off the chance to make the dance because we lost a number of games toward the end of the season only to rip off about 5 of 6 to close it out (at the time this was one of the biggest knocks on Mick...his record was horrid at end of season). A classic case of losing all hope and not believing it COULD happen. Heck...I think I was one of them...and that is why I say let them play most of the season before we hyperventilate too early.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" (this is a movie reference in case you want to challenge my history knowledge)

Bruce Pearl has coached in Division I for 10 years and made the NCAA tournament his eight times including 3 Sweet 16's and an Elite 8. He is a good coach, probably better than Mick (speaking as an actual coach). I would be a bit concerned with his program building as it looks like the bottom fell out that last year with ineligible players, guys being dismissed, etc. If you told me UC would get him if they got rid of Mick I would probably make that trade.

With that being said it is all just in fun as Mick has 100% support from the administration, and has accomplished a lot for UC.

No thanks, I prefer to win the right way without a complete jackass as the coach. While the results may be good, the end doesn't justify the means. Pearl does have some good qualities, but we don't want to travel this road. I'd rather take the gradual success that Mick has attained versus the Bruce Pearl way. Mick has plenty of flaws, but he has done a nice job and it is nice to not have to worry about losing a coach after he succeeds here. Stability is the key and I think Mick will continue to upgrade the talent. Hopefully, he will stop being so hard-headed and hire a real big man coach instead of an AAU coach (Antwon Jackson) and maybe a better offensive-minded assistant who can help our offense actually have some rhythm and flow to it.

Indian Hill is the only academic school in Cincinnati that matters...

Academics, while important, aren't the only thing required to have a good education. Having a well-rounded education with strong parental support is what is most important.

Just ran up to Kroger to grab a 6-pack (because I'm going to need it).

I was listening to the pre-game show on 700 WLW.

Dan Hoard: "Mick, what does the team need to do to be more efficient on offense tonight?"

Mick Cronin: "Well, first of all, we need to play better defense..."

*Bashes head into steering wheel*
