@theuconnblog: The estimated cost of attendance for 85 UConn football players on scholarship is $3.475 million. More than Big East TV contract.
This deal is horrible

Same old useless and meaningless speculation. The Big 10 has wanted ND since the Big 10 started, the Irish ain't joining. UNC, UVa, Duke, and GT have all recently said no to the Big 10, all are 100% committed to the ACC. All are so committed to the ACC that all 4 voted to raise the ACC exit fee to $52 million.
You keep saying they are committed, why have they not signed a G.O.R then?

Voting for a $52 million exit fee is better than a GOR.
You also keep saying that they have all said no to the B1G but have yet to produce a link or any proof of that you just revert back to another question to dodge it.
In order to keep from derailing, on bearcat banter we have yet another person claiming their "connections" to the Louisville athletic department saying we are 100% next in line for an invite and not UCONN.
If you think Maryland is going to pay $52 million dollars to exit the ACC, I have some beachfront property in North Dakota to sell you
Maryland voted against the $52 million exit fee. FSU voted against also. FSU would only leave for Big 10 or SEC. Big 10 does not want FSU as they are not AAU, SEC does not want FSU because they already have Florida.
UNC, Duke, UVa, GT voted for the $52 million exit fee, thus UNC, Duke, GT, & UVA all showed their 100% committment to the ACC.
In the fall Jim Delany's phone calls were in this order:
1) To UNC "Do you want to join the Big 10"; UNC President "NO"
2) To Duke "Do you want to join the Big 10"; Duke President "NO"
3) To UVa "Do you want to join the Big 10"; UVa President "NO"
4) To GT "Do you want to join the Big 10"; GT President "NO"
5) To Maryland "Do you want to join the Big 10"; Maryland President "Yes"
6) To Rutgers "Do you want to join the Big 10" Rutgers President "Yes"
And again Ralph, how do you know this? All you have to do is show us where you read it and we would all believe you and you could stop having to defend yourself on some stuff over and over. But that's right these are your thoughts and opinions and you are trying to make them fact.
And I'll go ahead and save you the trouble, you are going to respond to this with "Do you really think Maryland was the first choice?" Well that doesn't matter and has nothing to do at all with what I'm asking so save your self the time and start digging for real information.
With that said, we really should try and just skip over everything Ralph has to say as if it's not there and carry on with true information like the OP had hoped for. I realize I'm a bad culprit with this as well, but from here on out I'm just gonna skip over all his nonsense and it'd be interesting to see if everybody could do the same and he might stop.
I tend to think of him as a Andy Kaufman like character who intentionally does these things to get a rise out of people. My favorite is when he cites his own posts as a credible news source when justifying his opinions.
This North Dakota beach is great. Its right on the pacific, indian, and atlantic ocean. 80 degrees all year and the people are friendly.
There is no way Maryland will end up paying the full 52mil
Maryland paying or not paying $52 million has absolutely nothing to do with UNC, Duke, UVa, or GT. All 4 are 100% committed to the ACC, they are not leaving the ACC even if Maryland settles for a $1 exit fee.
Commitment is commitment.
Yup, and Syracuse, Rutgers, Pitt., Louisville, the Catholic 7, etc. are all committed to the BE. Come on, Ralphy, time to live in reality. It is conference realignment, everyone wants to move because no one wants to be left behind. It is thinking like this by Greg Williams that has UC stuck in the BE and just now trying to leave.
Famous Ralph quote:
"The bball only schools will never leave the BE. They can't make nearly the amount of money they are making in the big east with football schools"
Now the c7 teams are expected to make 3 mil per team.
So he was wrong 7 times over and then he's wrong on his payment figure.
There is a major difference between the Big East and the ACC. The ACC is rich in tradition that the Big East never had. Trying to compare schools leaving the Big East to ACC schools is camparing apples to oranges, there is no comparison.
The ACC is one of the Power 5 Conferences, being in the ACC you "are not left behind".
