The ACC is a great fit right now... I am just worried that all the good football programs will be gone by the time we get there.

The Big 12 is going to have to get back to 12, we know the Big Ten is going to take at least two more, and there's a good chance the SEC will go to 16 as well. That's 6 schools, all of which are likely to be poached from the ACC.

The Big 12 is very obviously targeting Miami and FSU, and would probably settle for Clemson as well. UNC, Virginia, and Georgia Tech are all targets of the Big Ten, and I'm sure the SEC would love to get their hands on UNC as well. If UNC goes to the Big Ten, the SEC could target NC State, with Virginia Tech being a likely target as well. Take most or all of those schools out of the ACC and what are you left with? The old Big East. I suppose it's better than where we are now, but whatever version of the ACC we join will likely be gutted.

The ACC might end up looking something like this:

Boston College
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Louisville
Wake Forest
Duke
Georgia Tech or Virginia
Miami or Clemson
Cincinnati
UConn

Funny thing about realignment-how much different does this look from the old BE? I would also take it in a heartbeat, but this is why I think realignment is so dumb-you end up with roughly the same conferences you had before. Yes, there will be a few teams added to the B12, B10, and SEC, but how much different, as a whole, do those conferences look? The new BE, Conference USA 2.0, the ACC, BE 2.0, B12, pretty much the same conference, with a few extra teams from other conferences. I'm not bashing UC, just realignment as a whole. In fact, UC and UCONN are the scapegoats of realignment. If the BE wouldn't have fallen apart, ie they would've signed that nice TV deal a year or 2 back, UC would've stayed. What UC does is a result of realignment, not the other way around. If you listen to the national media or even a few in the local media, they will try to make it look as if UC is one of the big problems with realignment, they only care about football and basketball, blah, blah, blah. I tried to call in to Mike and Mike after those douches went off on UC, but I didn't get on. It just gets old listening to these morons who constantly bash us.............

Rumor flying this morning that UNC is headed to the SEC and Miami and FSU are headed to the Big 12. See if any of it materializes. I dont know if that is just from that tuxedo guy or another source though.

That response doesn't surprise me. You probably would say that Jermaine Lawrence isn't going to UC because he hasn't officially signed yet. Just like when you enlightened us that the BE is just fine. Looks pretty good right now, I love being in the new metro conference.

The new Metro is UC's home.

Maryland leaving the ACC has no meaning for the current ACC members. Replacing Maryland with Louisville was a plus athletically wise for the ACC, it made it a better sports conference.

The ACC breakup rumors are nothing more than mindless dribble from West Virginia fans and bloggers who are very upset that WVU is on a Big 12 island and fast becoming a Big 12 bottom feeder.

Ralph, would you agree with these 3 statements?

1. The Big Ten is a vastly superior football conference to the ACC, and can hold its own in basketball (in fact, was much stronger than the ACC this season)

2. The Big Ten is the premier conference for research universities, and a team jumping from the ACC would receive a boost in both research dollars and academic prestige.

3. In terms of TV money, the Big Ten can offer a significant amount more than the ACC (which is why Maryland jumped)

Nobody knows for sure what is going to happen, but when you consider these 3 things (I consider them fact, personally), it is foolish to claim there is no doubt whatsoever in your mind that a team will not leave the ACC before 2025. You are entitled to your opinion like everyone else, but you must admit that if you were the President of an ACC school, you would have to seriously take a long look at the Big Ten if Jim Delaney gives you the call.

Have you ever heard the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"? The meaning is it may look greener but if you take a step back and you are happy where you are, do not go to the other side of the fence.

Is UCLA a better basketball head coach job than Butler and VCU? UCLA is in one of the Power 5 Conferences, they have 11 National Championships, they have more money, you get to associate with movie stars, and the weather is great, no snow. So why did Stephens and Smart not crawl on their knees to UCLA instead of staying at Butler and VCU?

The ACC is an awesome conference. UNC, Duke, etc. have been members since 1953. All the schools are relatively close to one another, there are no road trips to Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois.

The ACC provides all any ACC school needs, and the culture of the ACC is the culture that the ACC schools want.

The President of Virgina when asked a couple months ago about UVA joining the Big Ten perhaps said it all with his reply, "there is no way UVA is going to join a Yankee Conference".

BS Ralph. The University of Virginia's president is a woman and SHE never made such remarks.

Hilarious.

I think deep down this Ralph guy knows that there's a lot more changes coming. He's just trying to get a rise out of people.

The changes among the Power 5 Conferences are done in my opinion. If the Big 10, Big 12, SEC want to expand they are going to have to do it with schools such as UC, UConn, Houston, SMU, Boise, USF, etc., those not currently in a Power 5.
