We have to find a shooter.

In the absence of a shooter you have to be able to get to the rim. I think KJ, TC, and Morman will give us a better group to do this. Along with Shaq. But strength to fnish will be huge. HUGE offseason.

I like that lineup, but like you said they need a shooter. KJ really came on strong with his shooting so hopefully he can be a high 30% shooter. Caupain seemed to go in the other direction. He needs to work hard on getting leaner and working on his outside shot. If both of those guys can be dangerous outside threats than UC will have a chance to be good...I'm counting on Shaq making a big improvement, so far he has underachieved.

Obviously the big question mark is on the inside. Nobody knows what Deberry and Strickland will give. I wouldn't count on a JUCO and a redshirt freshman providing significant contributions. Lawrence will need to improve greatly, but if he does it will give a whole different look to the team.

We just guys that can hit around 35-40% and shoot consistently. But if you add a guy that can hit 45-50% to that mix you really have something.

I really hope after Morman had a year to sit and watch SK and the success and stories around him all year after he was asked to redshirt that he comes out with the same mentality and something to prove

NC State, Nebraska, Xavier, Middle Tennessee State, Creighton/Mississippi, North Carolina Central, San Diego State, VCU, Morehead State, Eastern Illinois I believe are the current non-conf opponents. Pretty solid especially is we can add one more big game. Youngsters will have to grow up.

I know but I'm hoping KJ, TC can join that mix and maybe Mormon.

Agree. They all have the summer to work on their shots. We should see a more confident TC and KJ. At least during shoot around Morman seems to have a really nice stroke. Just need to add one more shooter in the spring signing period.

Other than the "5-Star label", I'm curious what most of you saw out of Lawrence this year that has shown that he will be ready to step right in and be worthy of being in the starting lineup next year.

I hope that he works hard this offseason and is ready in November to be a key member of the team, but I saw very little out of him since he returned from his injury that tells me he'll be ready to contribute next year. Even before the injury, while he shot looked pretty, his shooting percentage was significantly below 50%.

After seeing KJ's play over the past month, I am fairly confident in both Caupain and KJ playing 25+ minutes per game next year. I'm really excited about a backcourt of Caupain and KJ (along with Mormon) in a couple years. However, I still have my doubts with Lawrence.

For what it's worth, I predict the starting lineup at the start of the season next year will be:

-Caupain
-Johnson
-Thomas
-Sanders
-Deberry

Someone will need to step up in terms of scoring, and I hope it can be Sanders. It's time for him to take that leap from "role player" to a 10 to 12 points per game player. Same goes with Thomas. We'll need him to be in that 10-12 points per game range as well.

Hopefully guys like Lawrence and Clark and Moore will push for key minutes as well.

I think while lawrence struggled he was playing out of position most of the year. Not having a backup big man at all really hurt this team. Lawrence is not a center and he was forced to play the center when his name was called. Now idk if im looking for the same production jump as JJ. But last year(well 3 years) jj was playing out of position. I look for things to fall into place for JL next year. a year of experience and a full off season where he doesnt have to worry about rehabbing anything he can spend the whole time conditioning and in the weight room.

This! I think it is a minor miracle that UC was dominant defensive team with a fairly skinny 6' 7.5'' guy playing most of the minutes at center.

I've been saying this for a while too. The depth (unproven but depth none the less) on the frontline is something we haven't had in the Cronin era. The frontline with JL, Qaudri, Deberry, Clark, and Strickland could cause some matchup issues since we have a good mix of stretch type players and traditional low post players. It will take time to gel and there will be ups and downs but this will be a fun group to watch.

I agree with the previous poster that said guys were afraid to shoot and looked for SK. I think the same thing happened the year with Lance and Vaughn. They left and we had more success the next season as a team. KJ and TC are the future guards on this team and both look great. Add Morman in the mix and an experienced 3 in Shaq... The only questions will be the inexperienced post. Hopefully Sanders does something this offseason to be a much better contributor. Him and Guyn were pretty worthless the last couple games...

IMO next years team will be the best mick has ever had offensively now let's see what he does with that talent.
I think it has that potential. I'm excited by the potential of the next 3 years and know the staff feels good about who they potentially will be signing in '15. There are some transfers looking at UC too,and with 2 open schollys the final look of the '14-'15 Bearcats isn't set yet.

Guards
SR Ge'Lawn Guyn
SO Troy Caupain
SO Kevin Johnson
RS FR Deshaun Morman

Forwards
SO Jermaine Lawrence
SR Jermaine Sanders
RS JR Shaq Thomas
FR Gary Clark

Centers
JR Coreontae DeBerry
RS FR Jamaree Strickland
FR Quadri Moore

I had to write this out to actually see next years team... I thought we were more set with the guards than we are, but without JDIII and Morman going into his first season we could definitely use another recruit, transfer or JUCO. Maybe Sanders will step up and contribute more next year as a senior. I don't really see G or Sanders as the Senior leader types, but who knows. Obviously SK was the ideal leader and we'll be missing Rubles' and his leadership
