I'm excited about hopefully having bigs that can store efficiently. Everything about Deberry sounds like he's an efficient scorer (and good FTs), also heard Quadri and Strickland have touch around the basket with Quadri being a bit mroe versatile. Add in Clark who could be dynamic and Lawrence who will hopefully have a healthy offseason and I believe they'll give us much more than JJ and Rub gave us.

Replacing SKs 20 per game will be by committee, I think KJ and TC increase their scoring volume, Thomas will add a few PPG and the bigs will increase the scoring down low. Bring in Graham and he could be our leading scorer immediately.

Barring huge improvements by Sanders and Guyn I'd rather just go young, take your lumps, and use it to build for '15-16. Those two aren't good enough players to get a huge bulk of the minutes like most Seniors do. Play the young guys and win the NIT if it comes to that.

You will see a concerted effort to sign a transfer point or sg. It may be juco or a 5th yr senior or an immediately eligible guy. Of course a freshman is possible as well but you'll see the energy in recruiting in that area.

Sanders might have to start. Are our youngsters talented enough for us to start 4 players who never played over 20+min game?

I agree with just starting the younger guys. Play the best players and if a senior is coming off the bench.... So be it. We are losing Dave who did not contribute anything and Rubles could not score unless it was a layup. Hopefully we have a much better offense next year

Need Graham and a bonafide shot blocker. None of our bugs are considered energy guys. We could use a top juco shot blocker to protect rim.

I really hope Sanders does not start. He had a high 3 pt % because he hardly played and shot wide open, selective shots. I think TC and Shaq are the only locks for starting positions at this point. Some will argue Guyn over TC, but at the end of games Troy was the one playing

Does Mick play Guyn and Sanders next year over Morman, Kj, Clark? Clark is early favorite out gate to get redshirted unless Deberry and Strickland are bums he should sit out year.

I agree 100%. I just can't see Mick starting basically 4 guys without significant experience in D1

There's no chance in hell Clark is redshirted. He is D1 ready and we need all the depth we can get at the 4 and 5.

The key to good offense is spacing and in order to create spacing there must be perimeter shooting threats on the floor. Smart teams this season were able to tilt the defense completely to Kilpatrick's side and didn't even bother to guard Rubles or Jackson when they set off ball screens. These are the keys to becoming a good offensive team to me.....

1. Land another guard that can shoot or score. Ideally Torian Graham but there will likely be some one year transfers that UC will pursue.

2. Hand the keys to Caupain to start at the point and play 25+ minutes. He is clearly the more naturally gifted passer and will learn how to be a leader of the team with the more minutes he plays.

3. By doing number 2, that will lead to a faster tempo. It is about damn time that Cincinnati actually plays like that. We've been hearing Mick talk about it for years. With Johnson and Caupain in the back court if it doesn't happen now, it won't ever happen. This will help Shaq Thomas get easy baskets before a defense can set up. Also with depth, there needs to be a press.

4. They are going to need at least 3 guys that can shoot over 35% from three. Candidates are spring signee, Sanders, Johnson, Caupain, Guyn and Morman. Good three point shooters help space the floor and break scoring droughts.

5. At least one guy is going to have to be able to score on the post. It will most likely be between DeBerry and Strickland. I'd like to think they'll at least be able to use their big bodies to make a lay-up or dunk. I also like that DeBerry is supposedly a good FT shooter.

6. Double digit scorers must emerge. I would like to see Thomas improve his half court game because he is pretty tough to guard in one on one situations. Lawrence needs to get his confidence back from the mid-range and he'll be a candidate as well. I expect Caupain, Sanders and Johnson all to be around that 7-10 point range.

If those 6 things materialize, there is no reason why Cincinnati cannot be a good offensive team. They will need it because the defense is going to take a step backwards losing 3 experienced players.

Sanders, Shaq, Clark, Moore, Strickland, Lawrence, DeBerry all can't get minutes next yr. I don't like it one bit but unless you ask Sanders too leave Clark or Moore will have to sit out

If we look back at the JUCO big guys coming in they always start from John Williamson to Toyloy. I think they experience and age of DeBerry gets him the automatic start. No D1 experience, but he isn't 18
Toyloy and Williamson started because they were only players on team

Sanders and Shaq play the 3, Clark plays the 4.

I agree. The only other person who will play the 3 would be morman if we did a 3 guard set. But clark and Lawrence are your 4s and Strickland deberry and Moore are down low. I don't really see Moore being a 4.

These three will probably not start together next year but I would love to see tc, kj, and morman get some minutes together in a three guard line up, those guys will get out and run. Morman is scary athletic. Put shaq at 4 and deberry at 5, I know it's small but could be very effective at times next year.
Most people on here think the starting 5 will be:
Troy
Kj, or a juco
Shaq
Lawrence
Deberry
I'm not disagreeing or saying it shouldn't be that but mick is very loyal to seniors and to think no seniors will start is hard. But unless they improve I agree they come off the bench, but the others will have to earn those spots. Could guyn have a jj like off season, he has the physical gifts to do so but needs to work on his handles, make moves going forward not side to side and learn to get to the hoop and finish, I hope he does but not sure.
Shaq-needs better handles and strength, time to take that step
Lawrece- strength an dedication, he has the potential just needs to go to work this summer on his body and game and it takes a commitment
Clark and morman will by young but factors, morman is a tough kid and will have a good year.
Main question is if we don't get torian who is the go to clutch player? Troy, shaq, and kevin are canadites maybe lawrence but he needs to improve
I think we will be very good again next year, yes young but young can win
