Maybe Waite, but I seem to remember this whole board trashing GG last year and guaranteeing he wouldn't hold off Caupain as the starter by year's end, but he did. I predict Caupain will still be the spark off the bench, unless Guyn is moved to the 2-guard. Note, this is my prediction, not my desire. I like Caupain better than Guyn. I'm not a big Guyn fan, but I believe Mick sees more in him than we do.
L-T if Caupain has closed the gap at all defensively from this year to last no way does GG start over him. I think he will get minutes but if TC can stay out of foul trouble he will get the majority of the run.

He may have closed the gap some, but the gap was wide. Defense will win out with Mick, but I hope you're right.

last year GG was forced to play big minutes at PG because he was the only experienced player we had. Caupain is a year older and wiser so it shouldn't be neccessary for Mick to give big minutes to GG at the point. He is much more suited as a off guard then a PG. Still think he will back up Caupin at the PG spot but he'll also see time at the 2. I'm very condfident saying Caupain will be starting PG. He'll need to play well and stay out of foul trouble but it is his job to lose this year. I also agree with Micks mandate that if you want to see the floor you better be guarding. Something Shaq better embrace if he wants major minutes.a wow play every now an again won't get you major minutes

Mick has had a pretty good record of suddenly producing a senior in his final season that exceeds expectations and finally reaches his potential. I think GG is a player that is capable of being extremely good if the pieces all come together. He has been through the wars. He's a veteran of two years in the Big East. He has been an integral part of 3 consecutive NCAA teams. That's a lot of great experience. I think GG and Troy each have a gap to close....Troys bing defense, and GGs being distribution of the rock. I think it's safe to say that we'll see a lot of both players and the one that closes their own personal gap the most will get the most minutes. The good news is that we have a lot of options at the point. We should be difficult to press. I think we'll have more options from the 3 this year with Cobb and the anticipated improvement from Caupain, Johnson and GG....plus a few of the big guys might be decent out there as well. We'll obviously have more possibilities inside as well. On paper, this looks like an exciting year. The schedule looks a little tougher. Hopefully the effort level and chemistry are good as well.

No comment on Shaq. He has been somewhat disappointing, especially considering he's had "3" years in the program. I hope this is his breakout year.

Remember that Creighton game where Shaq looked incredible? I really wish we could see that type of play nearly every game, he would be so dominant.

On another note, I think this team is very well balanced and will be extremely good if people like Deberry and Ellis come thru. Even with the 3 huge losses I still expect a great season.

I may have missed it, but nobody's really talking about Guyn being healed from his injury. Wasn't he playing all of last season hurt? I thought I read from one of the coaches on Twitter that Guyn has looked very impressive so far in practices now that he's finally healthy. I'm not sure he'll have a *breakout* year necessarily, but I think he and Caupain could be quite a duo. Troy is definitely the guy long-term, but I wouldn't be shocked to see the guys split the point around 50/50 this year, unless one really emerges. We just need GG to keep playing lock-down D, hit the 3 (which he's shown he's capable of when open and set), and distribute the ball a little better.

He played with a shoulder injury most of the year, that is supposedly the reason why he stopped driving to the basket midseason.

I am so excited to have an impact freshman. Not that we didn't have freshmen last season who contributed, but I really think Clark can step in and replace all of Rubles' production and some of JJ's as well. I won't be shocked if he averages 12 points and 8 rebounds. We have several different types of big men, which could give teams fits.

I am excited to see Clark and Sanders the most. I hope they both average 9+ ppg. I'm not that high on Guyn or Shaq. I think Strickland and Cobb will play the least but I doubt DeBerry and Moore log tons of minutes either. A core group of Caupain, KJ, Morman, Guyn, Shaq, Sanders, Clark, and Eliis with contributions from the DeBerry/Moore combo on the defensive glass could be tough to beat by Match.

Clark takes the spot in my starting line up at the 4 position. I think we will see the best line up earlier than I thought.

Caupain, Johnson, Thomas, Clark and Ellis. Guyn and Sanders will be the first two off the bench. I can't wait for the first exhibition game, and apparently I'm not alone. I've read that season tickets are up from last year by nearly 1,000!!!

shaq will log the most minutes and have the most ppg by seasons end, only other person that might compete in minutes per game will be ellis.

I saw that somewhere too. I read that both games they are showing the available season ticket seats and there is a way to get free tickets to the exhibition. I want to say I read that in the headlines thread on here.

EDIT: Here is the link to the article I saw. I guess if you say you're interested in getting season tickets you can get free tickets.

If Shaq is the leading scorer, I don't think we'll be very good. Mick has always had a strong scoring guard and I think KJ will be the only one over 12 ppg.

With football in a flux (both with the team and conference), I really hope we see the basketball attendance increase. I like to hear that we are at an 8 year high in season tickets. I am not expecting to sell out the season or anything, but there is no reason why Cincinnati shouldn't average 10,000 a game for OOC and 12,000 for conference games.
